The Extreme-Q Vaporizer

I am constantly changing up my routine... Basically I turn in up all the way with just the cyclone bowl on and turn the fan on 1 for about 5-8 minutes just to speed up the heating process.. Then I usually load the cyclone bowl and I usually load fatties .3 or a little more when im using my Q. I do not elbow pack often unless im smoking a small bowl ( but then i usually dont use my Q) but i keep it all in the cyclone bowl and i pull really hard for the first second or two. This pulls a lot of herb and basically packs an elbow for you and the rest sits at the bottom like normal. after 2 or 3 puffs with that herb in the elbow i do a quick blowback through to knock it out of the elbow and down with the rest of the herb and then suck another elbow up (sometimes I pulse hit it it to stir the herb without taking off the elbow to stir) and continue this method till vapor dies. Also you can lift your cyclone bowl up and off the unit when you blow back I knw many are concerned with their heating element getting dirty and whatnot. and just rinse and repeat. When vapor dies you can unload into your hand and recrush the herb to get the last out of it. That is just how I use it, but i have experimented in many ways... for people who like to draw harder i find elbows or my method of multiple elbows in one bowl nice for peoplle like my grandma who doesn't have a lot of lung power i recommend bigger bowls in the bottom of the cyclone bowl (raise the screen a little if you dont like to stir) and take slow and steady draws for nice vapor. Whatever your method its a pretty fail-proof vape just turn it on, let it heat, and then blow clouds...

Dude, first off...more air makes it harsher and dry and makes it harder for you to hold...therefore cyclobowl technique would be harder for thick hits

.3 alone imo is a lot...

I too tried many many technique and I only figured it out about a year or more...and because of FC

My technique was pretty close to the perfect(IMO) technique most of the people use here

Pack your elbow with no more than .2 (IMO) and try to pack it loosely as possible (some strains can hold .2 and some only .17 until its too much IMO)

Power it up and leave it on for about 15-17 mins, then gently pull one hit ... after that you're all set and you'll get the thickest vapor you can achieve without modding or so...

I don't use my extreme for conservation haha I have many other vapes that are far better suited for that.... I know .3 is a lot but that is the only time i use my exq is to smoke a fatty to be honest it isnt in my regular daily line up anymore.... and the cyclone bowl with a properly raised screen and the glass heated up and I think you will be surprised how much it can hit like the elbow or harder.... especially because my loads in the Q are much bigger than your elbow packs... and if you read i kind of do pack my elbows just using the suction from the whip and then continue to suck up other elbow packs within the same bowl.... and raising the screen i dont consider much of a mod..

Getting the EQ up to temperature seems to be the key. First to let it heat up for at least 10-15 minutes, then to let the herb get warm in either the cyclone bowl or the elbow. Would you mind sharing your technique?
My technique is to turn it on and leave it on as long as it will stay on, occassionally turning it off to turn it back on (4 hr as I recall) and basically keep puting more in during the day. absolutely let it get hot before hitting it. I'm a "between 190 and 220" but try to keep on the lower end for a different high. I often elbow-pack and keep emptying into the cyclone chamber and repacking the elbow. I would guess that I never hit it before it's been on at least 10 minutes with cyclone bowl on, elbow joint on top of that as it warms. I'm not afraid to put the herb in right as I start - if I stop getting the vaporization I want i just add more. I keep my ABV separated by the heat I vaped it, although to be honest I usually end up just throwing ABV out, but I'm not at risk of running out (yet!) and would throw ABV into cannabutter if I was making it and had some ABV around...

Hello everyone!

I just received my Extreme Q ("new" version that is black) today in the mail and just fired up my first bag. Due to my career, I haven't been able to use cannabis in over 10 years. Rules changed at work a few weeks ago, and they are no longer submitting employees to random testing!

So here I am, celebrating my return to the herb with my new toy and a bag full of Sour Diesel vapor. Talk about coming back with a bang, huh? I'm flying right now!

I just wanted to thank everyone who contributed to this thread. Over the last week (in anticipation of my EQ arriving), I've read through the entire thread, post by post. I learned a lot from you guys and I feel like I'm already a pro with my EQ. Last year I switched from cigarettes to vaping, so I decided not to even waste my time/cannabis/health with combustion.

Looking forward to getting to know you guys!

Welcome. And compliments on being smart to take the time needed to slog thru this entire thread. We always encourage that, it really accelerates the learning curve and saves everyone a lot of time, not to speak of improving the new user experience. Enjoy your new world of vaping, just be careful about being bitten by the VAS bug, or even worse yet, the GAS bug!

I've been using the Q all day! I kinda found out what I prefer. As of right now its a bag at 190, a bag at 210, and a bag at 230 right before bed (all using the same cyclone bowl of cannabis). The differences in each of the 3 sessions is notable.

The 1st session (190 with fresh herb) tastes amazing! Doesn't produce a ton of vapor but gives me a nice "zippy" high. I did the dishes, started laundry, and decided to clean out a closet. It was very nice and motivating.

The 2nd session (210) didn't taste as fresh . . . was a combo of the nice pine freshness of session 1 and a little bit of popcorn taste creeping in. Got munchies about 3 min after the bag was gone. Nice to sit in front of the TV and relax. Nice cerebral high with some minor sedation and heavy eyelids.

The 3rd session (230, which I just finished about 5 min ago) has me ready for bed. Taste was all popcorn. Not bad, but 100% different then the first session. Very heavy eyelids, tons of sedation and pain relief. I am going to have a hard time peeling myself out of my computer chair to go to bed.

I was high all day and only used .2 grams of cannabis (Sour Diesel).

Amazing.

Hey guys i just received my Extreme Q. I wanted to know how one takes off the elbow and mouthpiece so that i may attach the pieces to another tube. I seem to be having difficulty taking off the pieces and i did not to break the pieces

It might need a little heat. Try putting it on the Q (without herb) and turn up the heat and the fan for 10 min or so and see if it comes out then. Don't twist the tube in the glass elbow though, as it can crack the glass.

You could also try putting it into a hot pot of water or run a hairdryer over it for a bit.

I've found razor blades to be the easiest solution.

:peace:

I think I'm going to order some replacement tubing soon. I have a feeling I'm not going to want to clean it out all the time and would rather just cut a new piece when needed. I haven't used the whip much yet though, so it might be awhile before I need it.

I used to be a big proponent of cleaning tubing, but I can't be bothered anymore. Buy a nice long length of food grade silicon and you're set. One tip I picked up is to cut individual whips longer than you usually need, then when the end nearest the packing elbow gets really dirty, you can just snip that area off and the rest of your whip will seem fairly clean.

Thats a pretty good idea. Do you have a favorite vendor for the silicon tubing?

This is exactly what I do with mine, no point in throwing out the whole whip when just the first few inches near the elbow get the dirtiest.

Just got my Q on Monday, extremely happy with it. Finished reading the thread before it arrived so had a good idea of how to use it before it arrived. Elbow packing rocks, and silicone tubing is our friend. Now on the lookout for a bubbler, but the ones I've been interested in use a 14mm connection, thought I read that someone was selling tubing to 14mm connectors but can't for the life of me find that link. Will do some more searches.

Thanks to all for your posts, really helped in my decision process.

hey new member here. O.K so I have had my extreme q for months now , and when I first bought it, the bags it produced were amazingly thick, tasty and would be pretty even all the way through and a nice high to go with it. Now when I turn on the fan at best I get a pretty wispy bag of vapour that has little effect on me. I can still smoke the whip and get CLOUDS of vapour but it makes me cough too much. Am I doing something wrong? my temp is set at 195, finely ground, aaa bud, and i still get pathetic bags, and at this point I am smoking more weight in the vape than I am with the bong which shouldn't make sense. What can I do to get a more efficient hit again? I went to saving money on weed to wasting more than I was originally. with this thin vapour it takes me 6+ bags to get high and wastes a lot of weed....2 thick ones used to have me happy for an hour

I guess the first obvious question would be, have you changed anything at all in your bag blowing technique? For example, if you use a fine grind and a small-medium cyclone load with fan 3, the fan may blow thru the center of the herb and, unless you're stirring frequently, you may get thin vapor. I generally load about half-way to the teflon shield and use fan 2; have you checked the elbow screen to make sure it's not being clogged?

Thanks for the quick reply, and yes, I regularly clean the screens (especially the top one for elbow gets clogged) I have always used fan 3 no matter what because I am impatient. I have tried fan 1 and 2 and they didn't seem (at the time at least) to give any thicker of a bag and takes forever. I always grind up my weed very fine in a coffee grinder and mix the kief back in with the pile instead of conserving it. Sometimes I get a great bag that looks like it almost has smoke in it but others, will just fill up super wispy, and the second, third bag don't make up for it either. There must be something with the fan I am not getting, but anyways, weed is always high quality, ground fine, filled halfway, fan 3. Does maybe having a semi dirty elbow piece have any effect? like attracting more vapour to be deposited since it is so sticky maybe? although i've cleaned it once already and seen little difference, I miss those first thick bags, they saved me so much money, now I waste as much if not more as if I never had purchased a vape,

If you are grinding very fine plus adding kief powder back in, you may be clogging the screen without realizing it especially if using fan 3. Looking into the bowl you may see a small crater in the center where the air is blowing thru the load because the material is so fine and lightweight. One and especially both of those effects can result in a much lighter bag.

Try grinding less fine and not adding in the kief. Use fresh clean screens with fan 2 - it takes only a few minutes longer than fan 3 - and stop it at least twice to stir the cyclone plus clean out any build-up in the elbow. The fact that your results are inconsistent, sometimes good sometimes not while the raw material is the same, really suggest an issue with your technique.

If your unit makes enough heat and screens not clogged, then I can only think of some leaks. If you don'tsee any vapor leaks, it's possible that the hot air leaks out before it can hit herbs. It happened in my EQ. I haven't noticed it for a long time because I don't use bags anymore and use fan only for pre-heating. Once I chcked the temp and found out that the hot air is leaking just as it leaves the fan. Cause of this problem was the heater cover moved slithly up, so it didn't have airtight seal with the fan anymore.
