PALE BLUE DOT
What about swapping the batteries? especially if you have 2 units, take them both apart and swap and see what happens. Could be a battery issue could be something else. unscrew top cap, open 4 screws on the bottom, take battery cover off with small screwdriver, and unplug. pretty easy to swap if you're handy.

took myself about 10 mins max to remove the battery. it may void the warranty so be warned.

Could also send it to Arizer as it does have a 2 yr warranty, no point in tossing it. The power adapter works great though, I have one and I used to charge the Solo once a day, after the PA it dropped to every 3 days that it needed a charge at the same level. It also seems to heat up quicker?

GOOD IDEAL!

For a second there I was thinking "I swear I just typed that" but I guess it coudl be in my head, until I saw your reply

and I'm sober...not good

Its been a tough week smoking out of a bowl as my Solo is getting replaced

Only tip is use a proper small screwdriver so you don't strip the screws, but the whole casing slides right up.

For more info look for Centizen's battery replacement thread, has some pics too

Whered you buy it from? Some vendors take care of the warranty, other times you have to send it ot Arizer

You're also in the UK so it would have to pretty clean to be shipped overseas

I agree on having an alternative before shippign it out

Ok, so I just got my Solo, charged it up, and its ready to go. What should I do/need to know before using it the first time?

ANd am I right in thinking that you have to pack your herb in the bottom side of the glass stems? So the herb pretty much just sits in the holding area where the heater is at (since my herb won't stay packed in the stem)?

My technique is to let the solo get to temp and just to vaccuum the herb up with the stem and press it down lightly. Generally thats enough to hold it in there. Then turn the solo upside down and slide the stem inside. (You might want to try inserting the empty stem a few times before firing it up since it takes a couple of insertions to loosen it.) let the stem sit on the bowl for a minute or so, then draw slowly. I like starting low for best flavor, at around 3. Hold the solo upside down when you remove the stem as well. I also use small screens to reduce the amount of particulates.

Thanks for the info. So I was right in thinking that the herb sorta just rests in the heating element cavity. Makes sense. Now my questions is, where do you get the screens to go inside the glass slides at?

Head shops usually have small ones. Otherwise, scissors will correct your screen size issues.

.5" stainless steel screens locally if possible. I buy mine at a headshop

the .5" are slightly too big, either you can just push them down and shape them with a small tool, or cut them and drop them right on.

I've done both, too lazy to cut now, just push them in and straighten them out with a small key

THE GLORIES OF A GONG

I had previously taken some of y'alls' suggestion and boiled clean my gong stems in milk. That's a nifty way to make a chai. But until now, I hadn't manually scraped out my gong stems in order to redeposit back in the heater-facing end of the stem. Long story short.. just did it. Let me put it this way.. I'm thinking very hard about typing this sentence. Lordy. There's a gold mine smeared on the inside of that stem. Reminds me of my prehistory when I'd be implement scraping in order to gather hunks of nasty, headache inducing resin to smoke when nothing else was available. This is like that, in that you scrape your previously used implement. But the main difference is that instead of scraping out pure nastiness.. you get a GOLDMINE OF FABULOUSNESS.. did I just use all caps? Woops.

JDR

EDIT: As always, your results may vary. In my case, I've put all sorts of meltable stuff in there and wondered how it just seems to disappear sometimes. I wonder where it went. Now I know. It went into my Goldmind of Fabulousness.

Hey

I have recently quit smoking after almost 20yrs and started vaping exclusively, got a MFLB I've had for years so started using that, except it was just not giving me enough. Then I found the Solo...

Oh my Gosh! What a life changer.. I've had my Solo for 4 weeks now, got it from eBay M1D version, and have been using it every evening and wkend since. Anyway I don't need to tell you all how great the solo is, you already know! So this brings me to my question..

Just recently the stem has become quite wobbly inside the heating chamber when it was solidly placed before, so loose infact that its so easy to pull it out with sticky lips! Im using my preferred straight stem not the bent stem so I put the bent stem in to see how that was and it was even looser! It seems like the glass has shrunk a fraction, but I didn't think glass did that!

So im just wondering if anyone can give me any advise on what to do/any fixes/hints that can stop this.

Thanks

Hello all

ive been lurking this forum for a quite a few months now and finally decide to join when I had a question that i havent seen asked in this thread. The other day I was trying to think of ways to reclaim the oil from a PVHES that was long over due for a cleaning (im not that turned on by the idea of boiling it in milk lol) anyways so i put the solo upto to 6 and put the stem in with no herbs, after a minute or so i was getting decent hits off the empty stem. has anyone else out there tried this?

There is a pretty easy solution for sticky lips as I believe the loose stems are not a problem. Arizer has stated in the past that looser stems have better airflow and my experience suggests the same so... Anyway you can always place the rubber cap against the stem and hold it there by resting your index finger on it... It feels so natural that I can't believe Arizer didn't place it exactly there for this purpose!

After hearing a lot more about battery/indicator issues, I'm considering sending mine back to Randy at puffitup. I e-mailed him my issues with the battery life/indicator and he said to send it in for him to have a look. He also said I can leave it a little while as I have the 2 year warranty so if need be I have some more time to enjoy it. I'm going to keep testing it as the battery seems to have slightly improved since I first got it. I'm not certain on that one though. If I still feel dissatisfied with the battery after a month or two more I'll send it back.

Does anyone know if there is a way to make the stems fit snug again? I've had my solo for just about 3 weeks now and the stock stems are already very loose.

I have found that Ed's stem is a little bigger than my PVHES. With extended use, it will make the glass ones fit loosely. To make it tight again, I unscrew the cap of the Solo and press that Teflon ring against something firm. I use a stone coaster, counter top, or whatever is handy. I just apply pressure and kind of roll it around on that ring for minute or so. Works best if it has been heated recently. Viola! Glass is tight again!

My stems are also very loose. I've gotten used to it and it doesn't bother me TOO much. Happytrails mentioned earlier in the thread rolling the O-ring against a hard surface. To do this you'd need to unscrew the cap, and you'll see a raised ring in the bowl. Just take that out. You might want message them and ask how it's done as I've not done it myself.

I'm surprised 6 is high enough to vaporize the reclaim. A number of people have mentioned that they torch their stems when they get dirty and hit it like they are dabbing.
