This is what I am liking about the SSV...you control the temp with your draw speed. Off my new ssv is at about 7 as well and I believe that is how the videos show it so I leave it there. I also don't turn it off cause Vito said not to, I just put the temp all the way down right before the click when I go to sleep as suggested. I use mine at a much lower temp then most since coughing is not good for me. I have mine set to almost 12. I can easily adjust the temp I want but if the air is coming in to cool I let it sit. It is cold now so cold air is going in the air hole. I hold the wand on the heating element longer then I had to last week to get a bit higher temp or I just draw slower. Even a slow draw with an ssv is faster then other vapes so it isn't a big deal. One of the videos said you should hear that wisping sound from the air hole. Ok that is fine but I have done it both ways with no issue. It really is a matter of muscle/breathing memory to use the SSV the way you need. I love it:love:

not a laser pointer.. a laser tempreture gauge.. it shoots a laser at it and takes the tempreture . sort of high tech.. I use them in my work sometimes.. I am thinking i just might get mine and make a chart of temps to time clock positions for the ssv.. could be handy for other

But where are you going to measure?

I'm pretty sure the element gets way hotter than the air temp at the herb, and I don't know if the HC would be any better of a reference point.

Lol sorry I may have confused you by saying pointer I know what you are referencing i have used mine to read surface temperature of my nail after heating with a torch for dabbing. The laser temp reader is what I was referring too when I said the temp readings can also vary depending on the emissivity of the material your measuring i.e. copper will read differently then aluminum because one reflects more or less back to your laser gun. I am also familiar with using FLIR technology where it can read heat signatures and show them on your display like the police use to see grow lights in a home. Very handy to see what wrong with your homes insulation, roof, heating and air equipment, etc pretty slick stuff.

My original question stands where would you point the laser for your measurement? At the element? That's not the temp of the air at your wand..... Nor is the glass heat cover shielding your element..... It's all all a heat transfer thing. Any change in draw or compaction of the load from stirring causing a slightly lower rate of air over the load will change the temperature. I just can't think of a way short of computer controlling the temp of the element to the rate of air flow and input air temperature like the cloud does. :2c:

I suggest some soft high temp silicone tubing from Mcmaster Carr. doesnt taste bad like the stuff that comes with it and is much softer though you can not see through it. that doesnt bother me and even i am very visual

edit: Keep in mind i am special in that im very chemically sensitive. so not everybody may even notice the taste of the included tubing from 7th Floor. However the SOFT high temperature silicone from Mcmaster is pretty soft. in fact sometimes even too soft in that it collapses on itself, kinks really, and cuts off airflow. Now Im thinking I need to experiment with their SEMI-SOFT high temp silicone tubing.... :science:

Softer really wow. The SSV tubing is pretty soft. That is good to know that Mcmasters is as soft or even softer. I don't taste the tubing any more then other tubing but that isn't to say it doesn't have taste. It just is not strong enough to bother me or take away the herb taste.

hmm..didnt think of that..i was of course buzzed when i posted earlier... i guess I will just have to learn much like i did with the MFLB..
trial and error

I'm thinking about switching to a 24mm HC/W and I noticed they offer a "tension clip" style stand. Anyone have this type and if so, how are they compared to the shim type?

BoldtVapor,
i did that for the mflb but I was thinking since the temp is able to be set up better and have the same results...now i guess maybe jst ask the settings....someone listed it earlier..

so how about what dial position and what effect do you get...

also ABV...I have a lot of it and I have smoked it(I can hear the collective..yuck)..it works fast and knocks me out..but tastes terrible..is the best way to make a ticnture?

I too was wondring about this heater cover. Looks badass, I am curious how well it performs. Let us know what you think,if you do you get it.. I don't know anything about the stand though:\

Just received another Standard HC and Wand for back-up. After I broke my SGG HC I'm afraid if I break my last HC then I'd be without a vaporizer, :ugh:.

So I installed my new HC and cannot get it too give me much vapor. I have it installed the same exact way as my other HC, being sure that the heater is as far up into the HC as it will go.

I remember reading some others having a similar issue and maybe the air intake hole being too big being the issue. Has anyone experienced this?

Has anyone here tried using a vapor tamer? Im looking through 7th Floor's Black Friday Deals and was wondering if they are a descent investment. Thanks.

If you have an issue with the heat of vapor, then they are totally worth it.
They don't really help with the dryness of vapor though. I found that the inhale would feel really cool/smooth, but the back of my throat would tickle a bit, and on the exhale, I'd feel the irritation from dryness.
There is some slight moisturizing effect from the condensation inside, but it's pretty negligible.

You might not use it every session, but I can't see you regretting the purchase
(all of the above is IMO/IME)

Thanks for the input, i'm trying to decide between the $245 wave rider deal or the $300 bundle deal that they are having for Black Friday.

Am in the market for a new vape atm im thinking the Thermovape Cera may be the one to go for then i started reading about this again. i like the fact they dont break easy like the PD. :)
i have a PD & MFLB is this better?
i suppose what im trying to say is , does it perform better than the PD ?
Does it have a glass option and no plastics?
Are the metals used completly safe?
Is ceramic like in the Thermovape Cera just as bad or better than metals?

It really depends on what you want. The MFLB and PD (i hear) are some of the most efficient vapes. The ssv requires a larger bowl size, thus delivering much thicker hits, while not potentially being as efficient. The ssv can be efficient, but it encourages you to load more to get the most satisfying hit. It has a completely safe airpath. If you do get it I don't think you will be disappointed, as long as you don't expect pd size bowls to produce thick vapor.

The custom heater cover i posted earlier has this issue, the hole was way bigger than my others. You have to turn the heat up and pull extra slow to get decent-ish ( but still not as good as my others) vapor. I was a little disappointed after waiting 8 weeks:\.

Did they said they would replace it? You've been waiting 8 weeks for a replacement?

Edit: I'm guessing you mean 8 weeks for a custom order?

Here is mine:

The intake is ~9mm.

In the email from Chris, he said that this hole needs to be smaller than the size of the tube. Makes sense.

You ask about the TV Cera, and mention the PD amnd MFLB to ask for comparison.
This is the SSV thread, and it would be more likely you would find answers in the Thermovape thread.
(unless you are asking about the SSV, and I missed it).
If that was the case.... the SSV is an undeniably great vape!

Say, would one of those fit in a Solo stem or Ed's Solo stems? They, being ceramic, might be a bit difficult to shave down.

JDR
They do not fit in a solo stem, but they do fit into an eds solo stem.... BUT they fill it up all the way, and are very porous... too porous to serve a real purpose in the stem... I use cotton to hold and vape oils... works well!

yup thats what i ment by "then i started reading about this again" sorry for not making it more obvious though , i wonder why they only rate this 9th in list of best vapes, mind you who's opinion is that etc...
this is the list anyway bet most of you have seen before...
