Help! Best Vaporizer for Me? (more detailed)

I know there are a lot of threads on here that ask about the most "efficient" vaporizer, but no original poster seems to state what they mean by this. I am in pursuit of the most efficient vaporizer, and for me, that entitles the biggest conservation of herb, while achieving the same effect. Originally I was looking at the "Da Buddha", but I found out that it was not quite the most efficient vape, as it trades efficiency for milkier, thicker hits. I heard that the PD (Purple Days) Vaporizer has been know as the best vape for conserving (however they are now out of business), so I am looking for a vaporizer comparable to this. I would like to know some of the top vapes for this purpose, reguardless of other factors, but idealy, I am looking for a vaporizer that:

-Conserves as much herb as possible (For example, the "Da Buddha" about haves your consumption compared to combusting, however, the PD about halves what you need compared to the "Da Buddha" (effectively quadrupling the efficiency compared to combusting) while giving the same effect.
-Allows me to smoke with a few others (1-3 other people)
-Is under $200
-Has a warranty

Log vapes in general usually have better efficiency as opposed to other vapes within the same caliber.
Most log vapes on the market nowadays have usurped the throne that Purple Days left.
Underdog vapes or Wychwood would be my top two for log vapes.
The only problem is that if you want extreme efficiency, the log vape is the way to go, but they were not designed to be passed around. From reading around here, it seems like a stem will be extremely flavorful but will only last a few hits -- no more than for one person.
I suppose you could always reload stems...

To your point:
I, personally, have only owned the Vapir NO2, so I can only be empirical when it comes to said unit.
But... it definitely meets all 4 criteria.

1. Converses herb: I use 0.1 grams per chamber. Logs pack about 0.025 per stem, but they get 3 -5 hits. Someone correct me if I'm mistaken. As for the NO2, direct draw can get me upwards of 15 hits on 0.1 and with a bong attached, it's around 8 milked vapor rips (10 inch bong)

2. Pass around: I've used the NO2 many times in groups of 3 and 4. Direct draw: around 5 hits per person. Bong: 3 per person before I have to up the temp.

3. Under $200: I ordered from the manufacturer with the discount code HOLIDAYS and I got 40% off the unit. Ended up being $117 (the manufacturer is in Cali and so am I so I had to pay tax)

4: Has warranty: Comes with a 90 day warranty on the battery and a year for the unit

I really enjoyed this reply, it was very well thought out and answered. I have looked into the NO2 just a little, I'll look up a deeper review tomorrow morning and see what I think. In the meantime, more suggestions and feedback are welcome!

or use multiple stems--one for each person...

Lets keep this thread going, I'm interested in hearing people's opinion! I looked into the NO2 Vapir, and currently it is my number 1 choice, just above an underdog log vape. Does anyone have any more suggestions or experiences with the NO2? I have heard it can have a slight plastic taste to the vapor.

I personally like my solo, i average .2 in a bowl and will produce about 10 mins of good solid vapor, its portable and can be shared in a sheshionn nicely. I bought my M106 for $186 with a vapecase on ebay, so i don't think i have a warranty, but im not fully sure on that.

This was addressed in the NO2 thread. Older models and china knock-off models had this issue.
Those who ordered from the manufacturer did not. Heeding the lesson, I ordered from the manufacturer and I had no such issues.

The Solo is a great choice as well!
Plus it's glass on glass. So if the brass chamber and high-grade plastic scare you off, the Solo's all-glass system is great.
I've never used a glass-centric vape, but I'm sure it would accentuate the taste some.
From what I've read, it out-classes the NO2 in terms of vapor density and taste.
But the Solo can't be used while charging, and the temperature scale isn't by degrees but by numbered settings (which isn't really a big deal, anyways).

I know you want the warranty, so I'm guessing you'll be dishing out the full price for whatever you buy (unless there's a sale or discount or something). For $225, you won't regret your decision for a second.
Just because I picked the NO2 (for nit-picky, small reasons) over the Solo doesn't mean anything.
It just had some stuff that the Solo didn't that I just so happened to want.

In the end, there is no "best" vaporizer. The best is the one that suits your needs best.

The DBV is as efficient as you make it. Just because it promotes big hits doesn't mean you have to have to use it that way. Vapes usually described as 'efficient' just have smaller bowls, forcing you to take smaller, more managable hits. I've used the SSV, DBV, and PD for years, and how they encourage you vape is not the same as their capabilites. Halving, quadrupling, etc. are not innate to the vapes (don't know where you even get those numbers). It's just how the design prompts the user to consume. I can connect a waterpipe to a log vape and waste a lot vapor if I decide to crank up the hits. I can also take small hits from a DBV and really stretch my supply.

Just to be accurate, a "knock-off" model would not be a Vapir and would have nothing to do with the N02. Where you buy would also not be an issue. Any legit reseller is going to have the same product as the manufacturer.

the smallest amount for the largest effect is either the gnome, or the ubie, or any other freebase style pieces.

typical useage is around .025 grams

Don't know about the newer logs, but 0.025g is what I load up in one PD stem. Considering I can get toasted on that for 2 nights with my current stash, you may want to consider a log vape, that is if the newer ones are as efficient.

I don't think any bowl is as small as the PD. I know the Rockzap (CRZ) has a considerably deeper one.

I am in the same boat as you. Waiting for my very first vape to arrive (DBV), and trying to figure out the best way to use it as a one hitter. I have never vaped before. One suggestion made was to use stoppers in each end of the wand afterward to keep things fresh and ready for next time. Any other hints you have regarding taking the smallest hits possible wtih the DBV would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

Another alternative with the SSV is to get a miniwand from vaporbros, the smaller bowl will more easily allow you to save and you still have the big hitter capacity with the regular wand. It is a bit tight to make the 200$ limit..

If you want something portable that can also be used with friends although not always, the Solo is one of your best options IMO. Not as small bowl as a typical log and the taste is inferior although not by much really, but you win on the portability if that is important for you.

Either a log or a Solo are my choices, considering your number one factor: efficiency. I think the DBV/SSV type will get you with friend higher at a higher speed, but it is easier to splurge and lose on efficiency.

Lwien, it is 0,025g of total capacity with each method of filling? Do you use the stem like a spoon or a straw to fill it?

Well, I don't know about being in the same boat, since I don't use any of the vapes I mentioned anymore, and I don't try to hit small from a big hitter, but the best way to take the smallest hit (especially with a vape that has a large bowl) is to load a very small amount. The problem is that there'll be a lot of air and so little vapor that you won't feel the hit or see any vapor on exhale. You'll just have to wait for the effects, in order to know you're getting the vapor hit. It's no different than taking a micro hit off the Magic Flight box in that respect, except that the MF design makes it a lot easier to accept the 'undetectable hit', while the DBV (and any full size whip model) is geared to the big hit you can feel and see. It's like having a car that'll get from 0 to 60 in 4 seconds, but driving it slow and easy in order to maximize gas mileage-kind of frustrating. Most people that want the option to get both big and small hits, depending on the mood/situation, end up with a big hitter like the DBV, and a small capacity vape that makes tiny hits easy to achieve and less frustrating. These days I use an Aromazap CRZ and the Cloud to serve both purposes. You can use the DBV for those tiny, easy to manage hits, but you won't find it satisfying in that mode. If I were you I'd be looking for a complementary vape to the DBV, so you can enjoy both big and small hits, as you like.

One suggestion made was to use stoppers in each end of the wand afterward to keep things fresh and ready for next time.
That will prevent any spills, but how fresh can a partially vaped bowl be? I seriously doubt you'd notice any difference between just setting the bowl down, as is, and stopping up each end. You may cut down on the ambiant odor from the partially vaped bowl a little too, but I don't see how it would help efficiency in any way.

I suck it in (use the stem like a straw) and then use my finger to push in any that is overflowing the stem.

Dear Max (and whoever else wants to chime in):

Fate appears to have intervened in my choice of vapes. I have just learned that my DBV is backordered and has not shipped. So I am back to square one regarding choosing a vape. I initially focused on the DBV because of the overwhelmingly positive reviews, especially as a "first vape." I have never even tried vaping, so I am literally starting from scratch.

Max's comments makie a lot of sense, given my anticipated needs: "It's like having a car that'll get from 0 to 60 in 4 seconds, but driving it slow and easy in order to maximize gas mileage-kind of frustrating." What turned me off to log vapes was the very long warm up times. Given my sporadic use, I do not want something that needs to be on all the time. Nor is portability a big issue. 90% of the time, it will be used at home. Nor is size/hideability an issue; it's my house.

I imagine my ideal vape as being able to heat up quickly, and then efficiently use a relatively small bowl. Like a one-hitter. The idea of bags leaves me cold. It will rarely, if ever, be a shared event. I will be solo 98% of the time. Price is not a huge factor, as long as it is not over-the-top.

Thank you all for your suggestions and comments. I would like to make my decision and place my order today, as I wil be travelling and wouild love to come home to my new vape. Thanks again.

I would recommend the Vapolution. It gives you the ability to load really small amounts (especially after the bowl attains a little 'stickiness' to keep a tiny amount in place), as well as get some satisfying hits, should you should choose. I used this model (original version) for a couple of years and was quite happy with it. It's not quite as easy to use as a log vape, since you do have to watch the temp and your draw speed, but you get more flexibility, including portability if you want it. If you get the AIW bowl with it, you've got a 100% all glass vapor path as well. You may be able to get the special price from Vapolution too- $100 including the AIW bowl. At that price it's a leading contender for the best vape buy on the market. http://fuckcombustion.com/threads/vapolution-2-0.4940/

I like the Arizer solo a lot and it would seem to address your stated needs of being quick to heat up and its bowl is pretty small. Its also very highly reviewed and the flavor is excellent because of a short pathway and stainless steel bowl to glass. They are about $160 at puffitup.

Portability being not necessary then i would choose a log over the Solo, despite i use my Solo when i'm in the living room and the log in the room.

About the logs, there are some who take 30min but many take 15-20min, like the Underdog Twigs. The HI has a quicker warm up time, 5min, but you have to wait in line to get it.

The WW also takes about the same as the UD Twigs.

I don't own a Vapolution so i can't compare them. But between my DBV and my log, i use the log more often because it is more pratical to use and manipulate without potential accidents.

I honestly believe you would be best served with a log like the twig or the WW. Solo use, efficency is paramount, great taste and very sturdy and durable due to the simplicity of the design. The only thing is the heat up time, but IMO it would be much more significant if you were a regular user, 15min go by in a jiffy.

Well, I took the plunge and ordered a Vapolution. I read the FC thread on it (http://fuckcombustion.com/threads/vapolution-2-0.4940/) and it seems like what I need. Thanks again, Max. I never would have found it without your help. The HI might be up my alley as well, vorrange. But this is my very first vape, and I am anxious to get started. I would rather not wait in line, or have to ship from overseas, as with the WW. However, they are both on my radar screen as my next vapes. Plus if I read the Vapolution thread correctly, this is a very "log like" vape. Thanks again to all who responded and have taken the time to show a novice The Way. I will post my impressions when it arrives.
