It certainly does. Thank you. I really like your idea of plugging up the wand and just keeping it in there until it is done. Does anyone have any hints on a way to do this well? I am guessing something airtight. Thanks again, hop.

Once you get your dbv, take the wand to a hardware store. Most have corks in a variety of sizes. See if you can find one that fits just right. Might set you back 50 cents or so.

Hello All:

This is my very first post. I am totally new to the vape thing. My DBV arrives this afternoon, and I am psyched to spend my Friday night getting to know one another. :D I chose the DBV based on the rave reviews on this and other forums. I just want to say a quick thanks to the members here for running a top notch site. It seems like a wonderful community and the sum total of the knowledge and experience here is truly staggering.

So there are mainly two things I am wondering about, and both relate to the same issue: I am a total lightweight. My past experience, for years, has been to take either one, or at most two tokes off a small pipe. That's all I need to be all set. The spousal unit does not partake, so 99% of the time, it is just me The pipe has a screw on lid, so I would just keep everything in there until I could no longer get a hit. Then it was out with the ashes and in with a new bit of bud. I have never used a grinder. I would only pinch off what would fit in the bowl and go.

Now all that is going to change. From reading various posts here I have learned that for efficient vaping, I need to grind. Then comes the load. I have read that so long as I can cover the screen, I should be OK. I just wonder if that will be too much material for my solitary tokes. Ideally, I would have liked to find the DBV equivalent of a one-hitter. I looked at some of the log style vapes, but they seemed to have very long warm up times and were best plugged in all the time. I am a super light user, and only
partake once or twice per week. So I wanted something that would heat up fast when the time came. (Kind of sounds like a Cialis commercial, doesn't it?) Is it possible to use the DVB as a single or double hitter? And is it possible to only grind enough for 1-2 hits, so I don't have staleness to contend with?

My second question relates to what to do with the material left in the chamber after my one or two hits. I have read about being able to reuse it. Do people keep a second stash of "used" weed? I also read about cooking with it, but I will bet I never get to that. I just want to be as efficient as possible with my vaping.

So any hints you can throw me regarding being a micro-user would be greatly appreciated. I realize my particular situation might have possibly led me to a different choice of a vape, but I am confident I can make the DBV work beautifully if I have some guidance. And thanks again to all of you for being so generous with your time and experience.

When I combusted my habits were similar to yours; I would only smoke 2-4 one-hits at a time. When I first got my DBV I struggled a bit to find the perfect setup. I tried many different options. The setup I now use is to load only enough to cover the screen and lightly inhale when I insert the wand (to keep the product on the screen) and I use the DBV at a high temperature (around 2-2:30 on my dial). Since there is such a small amount of product in the bowl, I use by DBV wand like people use the SSV. Instead of locking it into place, I gently rotate the wand in the ground glass connection as I am taking a hit. This will produce a bigger hit with a small amount of product. It should be noted that this MAY wear down the ground glass connection (I have an extra HC and wand).

Perfect. Or perhaps a rubber stopper, a la high school chemistry class?

I have found with my DBV that loading a little amount isn't really that good. I would load the whip around half way(.2 or so). I figured I got about 20 big hits with about .2 of material. So it sounds like a .2 filled whip would last you weeks! Because you can take your one or two hits and then just place the wand down. The herb most of the time won't fall out as your have heat activated it and usually its kind of all stuck together anyways(you could always use some saran wrap? Let it cool down though). You'll have to figure out where on the dial and your draw speed that suits you the best. Good luck!

I owned this vape before getting an Extreme Q. Honestly not nearly as good as the EQ in my opinion. Heres why:

-The horizontal loading of the whip means it can easily fall out of the vape and spill contents everywhere
-The horizontal loading of the whip means the herb tends to fall over when in the vape, and not stay a nice flat layer for thick vape action
-The temperature control is analog, and there is no thermostat, so burning the herb is as easy as pulling too slow, and then it can spontaneously ignite, and taste like complete nastiness
-There is no screen to prevent herb from going into the heating element when a light puff of air is blown into the whip

And these are the reasons why I love my extreme q. The vertical loading means no spilled bowls. The fine dome mesh screen is the best at stopping particles from going through, and can be elbow packed with ground up hash or herb. Most importantly though is the digital temp control and thermostat. I never burn nug in the EQ because of the digital temp control. If you pull too hard or too slow, the unit will adjust the heat level to maintain proper temperature.

IMHO the extreme q is the best desktop vaporizer out there; especially when you consider that it costs less than $150 on ebay

Ive had the Buddha for years and when properly used I have NEVER had any of the issues you mention. I've also had an EQ as well as an EXQ and all I have to say is that they were great vaporizers - but to be very candid with you - I sold em both. I do however still have my DBV. Thanks for your review - maybe I have to get myself another Q. :D

Would anyone happen to know the diameter of the wand, at each end? I am in a place where I can get stoppers now, but not for the rest of the weekend. Any info would be helpful. Thank you.

Never a problem for me or the majority of buyers, from all reports.

Analog or digital- makes no difference as long as the temp isn't set too high. I've used the DBV quite a bit, and the SSV for years (same exact electronics and heater), and never combusted. You have to turn the temp way up to be in any danger of combustion.

There is no screen to prevent herb from going into the heating element when a light puff of air is blown into the whip
Anyone that can't learn to breathe out only, when the whip is to the lips, has no business using a vape or other household appliances. And if some particles get into the heater cover once in a while, so what? They easily burn off the heating element, and glass can be cleaned.

The Extreme has a temp cutoff. You couldn't combust if you wanted to.

The only way to get rich hits from the Extreme is to pack the elbow screen, and it wasn't designed for that. So you end up with quite a chore, getting that screen cleaned, compared to the typical whip screen. If direct draw is the goal, the DBV gets recommended over the Extreme by the vast majority of those who have used both. Glad you like the E so much for direct draw, but vs. the 7th Floor models or good box vapes, you're in the minority. Like the herbalAire, the Extreme is best for those who want both direct draw and bag fill.

I would never disparage the EQ, it was my first desktop vape and continues to perform very well. But for the poster's stated needs I feel the DBV is a better choice and here's why. Bogart was specifically looking for a desktop vape to replace his one hitter pipe, and i think the dbv better fits the descrption of a one hitter than the EQ. The dbv heats up in half the time or less than the EQ, and its much easier to cap off the dbv wand and save it for later than with the EQ elbow. And you cant save herb for a later session in the cyclone bowl since it stays warm and you will waste most of what you leave in there. The dbv wand does not easily fall out. If you have it inserted all the way and unless you fill the wand past half full, herb will not spill onto the heating element. Unless you crank the dbv past noon, which i never do anyway, you will not burn your herb. And no matter how you hit it at lower temps it will not burn. You do have to be careful not to exhale into the dbv mouthpiece, however. Ive done in and the smell is nasty and takes a while to burn off. Its not easy to get it out. I do like the eq and if i have the time i will fire it up, and it has the advantage of bags, which some people like. But considering that bogart was coming from a one hitting pipe, i think the dbv was a stronger choice for him.

OK, so I'm not trying to start a war, and I'm not trying to solicit vaporizers for my benefit; I am trying to educate the consumers out there about other options. I used to own a DBV, and I loved it while I had it and I thought it was the best vape under the sun. Then my friend got an extreme q and I instantly realized how it was superior to my DBV in every way that I could imagine, so I bought one and sold my DBV, and then I bought another extreme q for two frequently traveled locations since I liked my purchase so much.

Yes, the DBV can make some nice vapor clouds, but it's not perfect, in fact, its a little crude for a vape. But that is nice cause it is only ceramic and glass. But honestly, I believe the extreme q to be superior in every way.

And if you don't think you can get thick rips of the extreme q, you're wrong. This thing rips if you let it warm up properly. Check out this video I made of vaping bubble hash out of a bong with the EQ and you decide for yourself...

they are pretty similar in results though remarkably different in design. EQ is much more sophisticated electronically, with a remote control and a digital readout. Da Buddha is simplicity itself and about as analog as you can get. DBV heats up faster, EQ looks more cool somehow. I like using both. But my favorite at the moment is the Solo for portability, flavor and convenience. I don't think you have to hate one or love just one. They're both fine vapes. I do think theres a little more technique involved in getting the most out of the EQ, though. Just my opinion.

It should arrive today.
I will post with my impressions when it does.

I have this unit that plugs into a wall socket and it has a 1 mtr. cord with a dimmer dial so it just goes through that.
Not a problem.
What I was thinking though is since the 220's run hotter than the 110's and they both use the same dimmer unit, I think the 220 dimmers should be twice the 'power' resistance of the 110's to have the same range.
Does that make sense?

Hey Bandoo,

Ok good luck mate :)

I haven't actually queried this with 7th Floor, it was just assumed this is how the units are as the ones we have always had all seem to be similar.

This separate dimmer thing sounds funky, how do you hook that up to the main unit?

EDIT TO AVOID DOUBLE POST:
I just read some previous comments comparing the ExtremeQ to the DBV... I have used both extensively and hands down the DBV is a MUCH better unit. It lacks any of the features that fail on the ExtremeQ and the simple design ensures YEARS of durable and reliable use. The ExtremeQ is very feature rich... but they are pointless features!

Remote control? really? arms to short? was that the point of it? Does the remote load it for you and take the hit too, lol?

Temperature Readout? what is that for? i have a knob, i turn it to the right to go hotter and to the left to go cooler... what do i care about a number...

Blue LED lighting... does the light get you higher..?

...and then lastly... there's the 'balloon'... if you have never used or seen what the balloon looks like it's an incredibly cheap looking/feeling glass stem with a bag tied around it, held in place by a rubber band... there is no quick release valve or mouthpiece

I feel like the ExtremeQ tries to do too many things, and regrettably doesn't do any of them particularly well

You Can head over to Home Hardware or any food/restaurant supply store and buy the tubing there. Just ask for food grade tubing and it is literally the same stuff. I believe its used in running lines for beer kegs etc. i would suggest snip an inch off the end when you go in to make sure its the same width etc.

Hardware stores usually carry the more rigid tubing. You want silicon. Its used a lot by home brewers so a home brewing store should have it. You can also buy silicon tubing online

So I just got my ass kicked by some sourD via the Buddha - never disappointing! Btw - I just cleaned my glass and realized that the water was way to warm for my session - I don't know if anyone has tried filling their bubbler with warm water but man, as weird as it feels - its kinda pleasing.

The Extreme Q.... "Jack of all trades... yetr masyter of none!"
I get my tubing ONLY from 7th floor.
After a search of many years, and a relationship with three tubing producers(including US Plastics)
I found SSV/DBV tubing the best ( I have bought over 300 feet of SSV tubing, and over 100 of "Tygon" heat safe tubing from USPlastics)
There is no comparison, and you will only save pennies on the dollar!
Hardware store tubing is NOT FOOD AND BEVERAGE GARDE... nor is it MEDICAL GRADE, as you can buy at US Plastics.... Then......
US Plastics tube is stiff and crude compared to DBV/SSV tubing from 7th floor...
7th Floor LLC, liked Tygon Tubing, but wanted an even safer and more flexible/supple alternative.
In order to have one of the worlds largest tubing manufacturer prosduce a special formula available ONLY to 7th Floor LLC., they had to commission enough tubing to go around the earth 9 times!
That a,mount has been consumed by the Vaporists of the world, and they are now on their next batch of special tubing.... commissioned to circle the globe 9 times~
I use nothing else for SSV/DBV sized tubing needs!
