Don't forget the pax, from what we were told, was made for tobacco. I would be these issues that arise from the way you use the pax wouldn't happen with tobacco. So unless ploom makes it for herb it will always have some issues.
After winning at the Cannabis Cup and being there to accept the award they may have trouble in claiming that its only for tobacco in a warranty situation I would assume.

EDIT: Sorry highly medicated and read that wrong. You were just giving facts. My bad brother!

If they have it wasn't the Cannabis Cup. The 2012 Cannabis Cup hasn't been awarded yet. Pax wasn't around for the 2011.

My apologizes if I offended anyone with my question. There just seemed to be technical problems from my initial reading.

I'm happy I was wrong though, as honestly this seems like slickest portable vape on the market (IMO). I just love how you can carry it with you so easily and that it is so discrete. This will be mine within a couple months

also... what happens if a company stays in business but revamps their product line completely and sells off old inventory to the point they don't have it anymore. what will a warranty do for that person??

10 years is a LONG time especially in the technology business. if i bought a PAX today and it broke in 7 years, even if Ploom is still in business, i bet the PAX will have been phased out by then

I'll use Iolte as an example. They improved/revamped the Iolite and when my old/original one died they replaced it with the newest model. So if a company is in existence when you need warantee, I wouldn't be concerned that they only ship the latest and greatest and not the old thing that broke. My 2 cents.

We're here to fuck shit up.
The Pax is supposed to be for pipe tobacco use. Pipe tobacco causes some serious resins itself. I think Ploom's best advice is that a clean Pax is a happy Pax. The only problem is that they give shitty instructions on how to clean the Pax.

Its like they knew people were gonna complain so thats what they went with for a slogan 'Clean Pax is a happy Pax.' Now say it 1000 times until it is drilled in your head!!!

According to the ploom cleaning instructional video, all you gotta do is run a moist pipe cleaner in and out the vapor tube about 3 times and your done! lol

Ah im waiting on my pax (ordered yesterday via priority also) and its killing me. Just so i kno so i can vape as quick as possible as soon as i get it, do i hav to charge it when i first get it or at least should i? also is it a good idea to do a pre heat of the oven to burn off any chemicals left in the oven/airpath during manufacture?

Man, the Pax design really lends itself very well to add-ons. I envision an extended mouthpiece, a mouthpiece with a moisturizer, a glass mouthpiece. So many possibilities.

Yeah, I dropped mine Saturday night at the drop zone on the pavement. Mouthpiece went flying, oven door popped off and the brick fell out but I was able to save 3/4 of the brick and continued to use it. The Pax will take a drop and still cause you to cough!

I just recently bought a Pax, and my first experience was not very positive. The first time I heated it up after charging the battery, I didn't get any vapor at all, but I kept trying until the thing got too hot to hold or put to my lips. The second time, I put more herbs in the oven, and it did seem to work, although the vapor was not nearly as strong as my last vaporizer, which was the NO2 Vapir. I did however, feel the effects of the herbal remedy.

So, I wouldn't mind getting some input from the forum here, but my general thoughts on the Pax is that it is not as great as the guy at the shop described it to be. My main two issues are: 1) It just gets too hot after it's been on for a few minutes. When it worked, the first few hits after the green light were good, but after a few more hits, the mouthpiece gets hot to the point where you can't keep your lips on it long enough to take a decent hit. 2) I may change my thoughts on this, but it doesn't seem very efficient. The size of the oven is pretty large, and that much herb in my Vapir would have been enough for several experiences. That may be the case with the Pax, but I haven't used it enough to make that call yet.

I would appreciate any comments on my experiences, and also if anyone knows of an additional mouth piece for the Pax. All the other models I've seen have some kind of tube, or straw like attachment to keep the mouth farther from the device, and maybe the lack of that in the Pax is a design drawback.

From what I have read and seen personally, the device gets warm but never hot. (unless u touch the inside of the oven lid then you might burn yourself) The mouthpiece issue i never had before only a little whistling because of moist bud (someone here said thats why it whistles at you) As far as clouds, I get clouds even on low. Taste however suffers after the first 5-6 pulls.

Also its best not to pull on it like your trying to face a cigarette in one pull.
Slow and steady wins the race, tell your friends. :)

Yeah it does get too hot, I've got to suck the mouthpiece a certain way or I burn the inside of my cheek.

Wow, I sure don't. I didn't get any vapor production at all until high...

Perhaps we're slowly figuring out each pax is slightly different?

Taking a slower pull will make the vapour cooler and thicker.

I'm aware thank you :) , didn't make a tremendous amount of difference. I find the mouthpiece is pretty restrictive, pretty much forces you to draw slowly anyway.

Norlin,
I bought my Pax directly thought Ploom so that I would be sure to get the remodeled mouthpiece. Could that be the difference? My mouthpiece can get a little warm at times, especially if I try to pull too fast. In fact, I've noticed that if I start pulling to fast, I can feel the mouthpiece warming up, and if I slow my draw, I can feel it cool down again. Still, even while experimenting with different methods, the mouthpiece never heated up enough to be too uncomfortable on my lips.

As for clouds, something it definitely not right. I get huge clouds on medium and get easily visible vapor on low. My Pax so far is VERY reliable on what it gives me. My preferred method right now is to pack the oven pretty tight (I have noticed that loose ovens do not produce nearly as much as packed ovens) and set it to medium. Every time, I get 5-7 milky hits, enough to make me cough if I overdo it. When the vapor starts thinning out, I stir. At this point, the abv is darkish brown with spots of yellow. I then switch to high and every time, I get another 3-4 milky hits, although by hit 2 usually the popcorn sets in. After this second session, the abv is uniformly dark brown to black and very crumbly. I have been incredibly impressed with how consistent this has been from oven to oven.

If you aren't getting production out of your Pax, either your method is problematic or something is amiss with your unit. This thing CAN produce like gangbusters.

Wow, I didnt realize that people had this issue. I was told from Vapeworld that they did ship me out the Pax with the remodeled MP. Maybe that is why my unit is fine and I dont get any heat at all on my MP. I prefer the unit getting warm (never hot, or too hot to hold) because my hand is freezing from the brisk wind, so it actually helps me hold the Pax while I take a long hit outside.

Make sure you clean the edges of the screen/oven. Thats where all the vapor goes and produces them clouds. (Not through the screen)

Been thoroughly enjoying my purchase since I bought it. I used to own a vapir as well and I do agree that it takes a lot less to get some thick hits. The pax is a dope little portable tho, just takes a good packing to get it going strong. The resistance on the draw wasnt as bad as anticipated. I've gotten used to how to properly pull and can say its pretty user friendly. I've ran into some issues with the light cycling during use but all it took was a simple depression of the mouthpiece and it got back on track. So far I'm happy

There is a photo in this thread somewhere comparing the new vs old mouthpiece. I have the new one and it still gets hot if you pull too hard. It's more a technique thing, I believe.

I dont understand what you can be doing to make your mouthpiece hot. Only for a second do I beast on the mouthpiece when pulling, and once I realize my brain hurts from pulling like a maniac, I relax and hit it like a human being. LOL

The only thing that scares me is grabbing the 2 metal circles on the side of the oven lid just after I run through some leaf and want to clean the lid and oven of the contents while everything is hot.

I don't find it takes too hard of a pull to get the heat up on the mouthpiece. That being said, I sip on mine without issue.
