Got my replacement solo and my stems are nice and tight again. I hope they get a little looser but not much. I like it in tight so I don't have to worry about dropping the stem. I felt the ring on the last solo before I mailed it and there was no ridge on the retaining ring. This one has a big ridge. We will see how long it takes for it to go away.

How does the battery life compare to the other model you had?

A little preventive maintenance goes along way when using the wooden stems, there is nothing wrong with cleaning them every so often.

Vito is right each has its place and time!

I have found that Ed's stem is a little bigger than my PVHES. With extended use, it will make the glass ones fit loosely. To make it tight again, I unscrew the cap of the Solo and press that Teflon ring against something firm. I use a stone coaster, counter top, or whatever is handy. I just apply pressure and kind of roll it around on that ring for minute or so. Works best if it has been heated recently. Viola! Glass is tight again!

Great idea...maybe I'll try it...but loose stems are the my least worry... ;)

Good to know! I'll give it a shot. Loose stems are of great concern to me.

I think I'm going to wait until the GonG PVHES comes out and just kill two birds with one stone. I'll probably end up using that as my go-to with water or not. Ed's stems look beautiful but I do like the snug fit with the glass and I would not want to lose that. I also want to see what will happen with this rumored PVH2O, hmmmm... :popcorn:

I can't say yet but so far I am not impressed but it is working. I ran four stems yesterday and not to the full 12 minutes and the battery is down to 3. I didn't charge so we will see today. When I get some good start to finish testing in over the weekend or sooner I will be sure to report with good news I hope. I don't know if this battery needs to be trained like some others. If it does tell me what to do. I used three different vapes yesterday so I didn't run the solo all the way down but I am sure it wouldn't have been hard.

A SCIENTIFIC APPROACH TO STANDARD SOLO STEMS AND HITS AND CONSUMPTION
by MrNorml, on behalf ot the scientific FC community and Solo User Group of the Globe.

On bowl-size etc of the Solo, today I was able to keep track of one sesson through a glassblowerdirect glass bubbler, and here are my findings.
Fiirst, i use good herb. I'm guessing 20-22% although i havent' had the specs tested.
Second, I grind find, it's dry, and I sort of smash the bowl into the herb and keep doing it until it is full. I'm guessing maybe 1/4 to 1/3 a joint worth. There is a screen covering the 4 holes.
Third, I run it hot - currently 6 out of 7 setting for water.
Forth, I use the stock straight stem terminating in about 1/2" of tubing which plugs nicely into the glassware. I don't stir or shake or anything during the session - just use it as is.
Today I got 10 good hits through the water before I determined I wasn't getting enough to keep going. It was all good visible vapor. That was over maybe 15 minutes, and someway through the first "on" I shut the Solo off, turn it right back on and reset the heat to where it was. That way I don't feel rushed, and I hate to hear it run out while I"m using it.
So, using what I would have to say is a 3-4 hit wonder herb I really sqeeze it for all it's worth. 10 hits. I don't need more than that bowl-full, for sure. Sure, I might use more, but I sure don't need more. I'm a pretty 'tolerant' guy, and can't seriously believe anyone "needs' more than that, assuming good herb. Bad herb, all I can say is there is more than sheer cost driving my harvesting/hoarding/buying. I am just a lucky guy though in that regard. What I use, "It's all good." I hope the same for you all.
I'm lucky to live in a grow state. I use seeds from Amsterdam via mail. Currently one seed has provided for many in over (guessing here) 15-20 grows between 3. I am a 1-2 grow/year type of guy, only provide for me single plant 5-11 oz grow, but that seed is getting over 15 oz of AK per plant every 6 weeks for one friend. The 3rd guy can't grow much beyond mites and over-fertilized plants but he always has like 10 plants vegetating so he can pretend that he'll get something from them. So, I don't use bagweed or badweed, which obvously helps, and I can grow a year's worth in 3-4 mos including cloning and veg and flower, which also helps keep me not scared of running out or using low--grade herb because it's cheaper. Those things don't vconcern me.
So, there are the results of my extremely scientific, triple-blind-tested, Solo use today. Again, willpower is a big thing... Obviously many users here (including me) are sort of OCD and over the top in sort of going overboard. Most I bet don't 'need' as much as they consume.
One other thing. I bet most users consume about the same every day. Track what you use for a month, divide by a month's days, and that's your daily average consumption. Mine, through all I do, is about 1/2 oz/month. And I'm not exaggerating when I say I'm always hitting some vaporizer or another, basically all through the day and evening. That is the best thing I learned about vaporizing - how much less I use to get way higher way more than I used to setting a fire and sucking some small amount of the hot and dry fumes from the ignited bowl or joint into my lungs. I don't always use water, but I do always vape, and I do always sip liquids when I vape because short of glycerine tubes, it's all hot and dry to my throat.
The Solo is very good for conservation I feel. Q is better I believe, but Solo is good, better than the Pax I think, better than Iolite. Maybe MFLB is more efficient but that isn't for me. So the Solo with standard stock stems does just fine without making me load it several times. I don't perceive size of bowl to be a consideration to getting something else. I do think the Solo gives a tough draw (not as bad as Pax IMO) and glass does break, so there are two reasons to get Ed's or HPVES but that's not for bowl size but draw restriction of the stock stems. I have always had issues with the draw. But, to be honest, using through water lets me sip sip sip and fill up bubbler with vapor without having to get my lungs involved in the issue, so I don't even have a tough draw issue through bubbler.

Been using my solo since I got it one week ago and loving it but am kind of worried right now.

IDK if this is normal behavior or not, but I believe this is the first time I forgot to charge it so I think the battery died, and I have it charging now but the charge light is red and lights 1 2 and 3 are all flashing on and off, along with the blue idle light.
Before when I would charge it, the lights worked normally with the charge light being green.

So is this normal because the battery got too low or what ?

I doubt the battery got to low. It seems like an error message kind of like I was getting but a different one. Did you try to unplug it and plug it back in? Did you try to turn it on to see if it will? You might want to try that and if not then call the vendor tell them the issue and let them make the call. You might have a bad battery.

I hope this is not an issue with the new crop of solo's.

Yeah I'm thinking it is messed up. It does the same thing when I unplug and plug it back in. If i turn it on, it just gives me a solid red charge and blue idle, no heating.

Kinda sucks... one week old.

Luckily I got it from Puff it up so I should be in good hands.

If you read the last few pages you can see exactly what happened with mine. It was different lights which is even stranger. I want to know what randy says this error is. I got mine back yesterday. Mine was less then two weeks old. Please read the few pages or you can go to my name and find the solo posts. I think my last one on the last page does a summary anyhow.

I did read like the last 50 pages of this thread and other chunks as well before I made my purchase.
Very strange stuff indeed.
I will likely contact Randy after work tomorrow for the next course of action. :(

I just emailed him and told him. I want to know if the different light sequences mean anything. Yours is presenting a different one then mine. They do seem like error messages now I want to know what they are cause I do. Mine was the first I think that he saw so now your will be the second. Maybe he can find out from arizer what it all means and if this is going to be an issue in this model cause it will be gone in three seconds.

I doubt he will get any info from Arizer but "its defective". But, lets us know if anything comes to light. If I were you I would just worry about your own solo. I doubt Randy wants to be answering your questions about someone elses solo nor does he really have time for that. :2c:

MFLB = POPCORN "BURNT FLAVOR" In my case.
SOLO = does the job!
Q = next vape ("first plug in")
PERSEI = Concentrates (POWERFUL)
Growing your own = (My Dream)
Dispensaries = Convenient (Expensive)
Stock bent stem = Will adapt it to a water bong

I will stop chasing the next gizmo. The SOLO and the PERSEI are my tools of choice.
Growing is the ultimate balance (some day)

The Solo is very good for conservation I feel. Q is better I believe, but Solo is goo...

IME the Solo is more conservative/efficient than the EQ. My useage is slightly down since I stopped using my EQ personally. But like you said, it's easy to keep going with the Solo long after being medicated 'enough'. I know I could lower my consumption further if it wasn't so damn fun to use.

I was thinking this myself but i don't own an Extreme Q. Solo is one of the easiest to conserve IMO, the only one who rivals with it in my lineup is the WW and the Solo ends up losing because the Solo still has a bigger bowl.

^^^ Solo >> EQ. I own both...I still use the EQ but nights only with my GF

Solo is as good as it gets.

The real kicker is that the Solo is a portable, yet it easily beats out a number of my desktop vapesin taste, efficiency and even cloud production - pretty much all the categories I care about. Its easily the vape I recommend most, especially at only $160 shipped.

Me too, and being a guy who like portability but don't really care about it being stealth (I find the whole public vaping overwhelming)

I took it for a 2 week medical treatment and I just thanked Arizer every moment...I got for 2 weeks every year and last year I took the EQ...I managed my times better and enjoyed the solo so much...I felt like I only need to take this small piece anywhere in the world and be happy...can't walk to hop from coffee shop to another one with the solo

I cough from a Bong or Joint.
I need stealth 90% of the time.
Flavor + Stealth = PORTABLE
I do this SOLO so SOLO is the correct name for this device.
