Herb Grinders

I've decided that I will soon be purchasing a new grinder. Based on the past couple months of posts here, and my past experience with grinders, (still loving my small 2 piece space case, and larger sharpstone 4 piece) I have decided to pick up a 4 large 4 piece Santa Cruz Shredder. I emailed Santa Cruz Shredder, asking some availability questions, and I referenced having heard about them on a forum. I believe they will be making a presence here in the near future. I provided them with a link to the manufacturer/retailers rules, and hopefully we'll see them here soon!

I'm going to get the limited edition large green four piece, but I'm thinking about getting a large 2 piece as well, in red, to replace the small 2 piece SC. Maybe it's just the Christmas spirit in me, but I really like the look of a red one and a green one side by side :brow:

Well, Having not been entirely impressed with my Medium 2 piece Space Case, I'm thinking of picking up a 2 piece Santa Cruz Shredder.

Would the medium SCS be roughy the same size as the medium SC?

What do you guys find the turning resistance like on the SCS compared to a SC?

I find that my SC get's really hard to turn sometimes, but it seems kinda random as to when it'll do it.
I'll be halfway through grinding my load, and it just jams up.
I'll open it, not find anything big that's blocking a tooth, and when I put it back together, it's fine again

Oh, just looking at the SCS pics on Planetvape, it looks like they've gone with a convention for magnetic grinders that annoys me...
So there's a "male" and "female" half to pretty much every grinder out there, yet the "female" half of the grinder is holding the "male" half of the magnet setup...
So I either end up with a bit of crushed bud in the middle (if I put my bud into the "male" side of the grinder), or some crushed bud between the wall floor on the "female" side, and the lip on the "male" side.

[TL/DR: Why doesn't the side of the grinder that has the "inside" wall, have the magnet that sticks up?]

Am I the only one who
a) thinks this is odd
b) get's bits of crushed (but not ground) bud?

That's another thing I really like about the S&B acrylic grinder - I can just throw a bud in there, and spin the thing without needing to make sure I leave a spot in the middle of the grinder...

Maybe I'm just over-thinking this whole issue

The medium SCS is 2 1/8" whereas the medium Spacecase is about 2.5". One thing that really annoyed me about my SC is that the medium was too small and the large was too big. The large SCS is 2 3/4" which, for my hand, is just right :)

I used to keep my SC Ti in the freezer so it turned easier. The SCS turns just as easily at room temp, maybe even easier, haven't froze it yet though . . .

My SpaceCase did this as well . . . :(

Its the shred Fred . . . really  Try it, you'll like it.

But... the Small 2 piece SSC is LARGER than the Small 2 piece Spacecase!

I KNEW there was something about that red . . .

Back in the day I used to love to mountain bike, a little shot of my translucent red, with chrome rear suspension arm, Santa Cruz SuperLight. Marzocchi z2 atom race front suspension, Fox Vanilla RC rear. Tubeless tires, disc brakes . . . good times . . . maybe again one day :)

Sweet bike tdub. I used to hit the trails too and remember seeing the exact same bike at my local shop.

But who ripped off whom?
(or maybe it is the same company)
Not really....
If you go to Google images, then type "Santa Cruz Logo"... you will be surprised at how many use just that lettering and style.... then to make it interesting select only images that are in the category "red"!
Google search Santa Cruz Logo/Red

I just got my SCS in.
I got a red Medium, and I'm really liking it so far, my grind (shred?) is coming put nice and even, and I'm really liking the action on it.

I'll just have to see how it performs when it's a bit more gunked up, but I'm thinking I'm gonna sell off my Space Case now :)

Sorry, it wouldn't let me edit my old post :mental: Here are some quick pics of my new grinder :D

Love how solid it feels...definitely well made. Nice and smooth, although it's still new :D Strong magnet on top and neat square teeth. I still get what I would consider BB sized chunks in my grind...so not sure what they are talking about (maybe we are talking two different things?)...it seems consistent to my SC grind...other than that, I really love this grinder! Feels alot nicer than the SC in alot of ways.

Looks good, Tweek!

The shape of the holes is pretty interesting.

Thanks Nycdeisel! Yeah, their whole design is supposed to "fluff" the bud rather than shred it up. After a few more grinds, I will say my material does look alot less pulverized and more "tumbled", as if it were rubbed between the fingers. A nice grinder all round.

lol it is nice, aint it? :D
