Nausea: The Monster

Thank you, Vito, for this thread. I've had Crohn's Disease for the past 20 years. There has been more than one occasion that the nausea and vomiting were so bad that I thought "God, if you want to take me now, it would be ok." By smoking and vaping the herb, I can go from speaking into the great white megaphone to wanting to eat a full meal in 10 minutes!

Yep, just yesterday I woke up with a headache and nausea even though I had told someone I would go to lunch with them and watch a movie afterwards. Really glad I got the bubble hash again and some freebies because it was an "11th hour" moment where less than 10 minutes before I was supposed to leave... my body just equalized itself. Total balance again, so to speak. Ran off to have a bunch of different food (including chicken soup) and did end up going to see the movie. I also took a tiny tiny piece of promethazine, just under a quarter of a 25mg pill with a 500mg Tylenol as well, so I can't discount those. The hash makes me want to keep eating

Well, I had to settle... but ever since Vicki brought it up, I had to have some. So picked up a 12 pack of Canada Dry Ginger Ale. Now, just have to try and keep my hands off it, unless I need it. I LOVE Ginger Ale. Glad I had it last night. Just a touch of "ugh" feeling. Big glass of ice and Ginger Ale... ahh... relief.

Would have preferred, though.

I love ginger ale too. It's actually more like medicine for me now, though. I'll sip ginger ale while vaping, and that always helps my nausea. It works even better when it's flat and at room temperature.

coming from a chinese family, my mom knows some of her old chinese remedies for certain ailments. one of these is making ginger tea for nausea. she made it for me once when i was real nauseated for some reason and it worked really well. anytime my stomach feels sick i always turn to make this first. all you do is boil some water, slice up some ginger root into the water and let it steep. then add some your desired amount of red sugar.

hopefully some will find this helpful next time you want something for nausea and you don't mind the taste of ginger.

Hey, same with my dad's family! Grandma used to grow poppies to score for the opium, which was then mixed into a bottle of mescal and became homemade laudanum. My mom told me that one of her neighbors was a witch (bruja) and she mixed different herbs and such to make potions for people. She often "prescribed" green dragon tincture for pains as well as other things. She tells me the people who were too poor to afford doctors and expensive medications grew their own cannabis to soak in alcohol they would trade food for. Such resourcefulness, it really makes me sad to see how wasteful people are, or the lack of consideration they have towards certain things.

I get nausea too..pain and nerve pain...but nausea will take it all away from me. You've put how I feel about it in words...I can't do that though. For some reason I have a really hard time explaining my condition. I guess for that very same reason doctors don't know what I have for sure.

I started by being in pain, and at first it was hell, then I got used to it. Then came the nausea.
I'm always smiling, even though I swear I could scream so loud I'd render you deaf because of the pain. But when the nausea hits. It takes every little bit of concentration I have when I'm working to appear rather normal. Even though I can imagine my lips look just like a cartoon character, full of waves, like Charlie Brown.

Hopefully, vaping will help in the morning before work. Since I have to keep awake at work and I don't want people to notice I'm stoned, I can't smoke (except sometimes I have no choice...). It's also mostly in the morning that it hits the hardest. (I'm a man so it's not pregnancy hehehe)

I've been sick all day, and vaporizing hasn't helped at all until right now. Been puking all day too. :(

I was just now able to get some vaporizer hits to calm my stomach, thank god! I feel awful....

I hate this!

Sorry to hear that. I can somewhat commiserate the past few days myself. Its weird, no warning, I can be doing anything standing/sitting and wham! Suddenly I feel like I'm going to be praying to the porcelain gods.

Really weird that its just hitting so suddenly. I can't get to a vape... I can't move except put my head between my legs, if I can make it.

But, ugh... Vicki. Not as bad off as you appear to be. Hope you're feeling a bit better... but just a thought... and I dont like breaking this to you. You might also have this flu going around. I spent a night holding my little girl's hair back from her face and neck. My wife has had it for 2 weeks. I think it might be what I'm getting. Its wicked nasty. One of the worst flu strains I've seen in a while.

I'm sorry your family has been so sick. :(

I hope you're not right about me having the flu. Whenever I get sick to the point I'm puking a lot, I get seriously ill. More so than the regular person because I am not well enough to keep my regular meds down, and my body goes out of whack. Blood pressure meds, etc. I'm feeling a little better today, but very weak.

I always found the medicated candies to be more of a "base" for vaping, in that they don't work as well as I'd like them to, but as soon as I take a few puffs from the vaporizer, it compounds the effects. Edibles get me every single time, although they come with the commitment to actually keeping it down long enough to be absorbed (45-60 minutes in my case, and probably generally the same for everyone.) Then again, I haven't really tried looking for other candies, no doubt there's better ones out there, and worse too. Nothing like getting a "DANK-O-CLOCK 2 GRAM BROWNIE" only to see that the company fine-printed the fact that they use lower quality shake, and you paid the same/more as the ones you KNOW are good, coming from people that you have met...

Maybe a quality tincture could help as well? The last one I made a few months back, out of ABV I should add, was surprisingly good for nausea, although it didn't do much else. Just some random mixture of 3 different strains. Although even that might present a challenge, I know I've had bouts of nausea that my own saliva makes me want to puke, and sometimes even breathing itself. Hope for a speedy recovery for all of you.

So, I had another attack this morning... god I hate this. My only relief coming in the form of small dabs of the high grade BHO I'd been saving for this exact unfortunate occurrence. Finally I got the strength to get out and set up the Cloud... wait the ten minutes... and two crucibles later I am sitting here, slightly hungry, very thirsty, with no nausea at all. I honestly do believe I'd have killed myself by now if I never had discovered vaping.

But; I just wanted to bring something up that's been affecting my thoughts for a while now; and see what you think. I recently had to go into the hospital for a Upper GI Spectroscopy (camera down the throat in laymans terms; lol) and I got a chance to talk to an extremely friendly and understanding young doctor who all but said to me that he vaped on a regular basis. We discussed vaporizers for a while (apparently the hospital has 4 volcano's for patients) and I introduced him to both the cloud and the inhalater; both of which he was really interested in. It really calmed me down; that's for sure; I was very nervous about the procedure, especially because I was refusing the opiate based anesthetic and opted instead for a local freeze of my throat.

Anyways, after the procedure, he came out and talked to me again. He was very careful in how he approached the topic; but he started telling me about some rather strange trends both he and other doctors in the field were starting to notice. Basically, he told me, there has been quite an increase in pretty much inexplicable gastrointestinal illnesses with symptoms similar to IBS and Ulcerative Colitis in people ranging from their low teens to mid adult ages. And in many of these cases, the individuals have almost nothing in common; except for regular use of marijuana. In no way was he trying to sway me from vaping/the herb in general, he wanted to let me know of this extremely recent occurrence in his field. He also had little in the way of reasons as to why this could be but mentioned that it could have something to do with changes in metabolism that it can bring around.

He was busy and had to move on to another patient; but he made an appointment with me later this week to talk more about it and show me some of the research that is being done. I'm looking forward to talking to him again; but in the meantime I'm wondering if any of you are aware of this trend as well?

I forgot to ask this last time I posted. Do any other MFLB owners believe it is the fastest, in delivery time, for getting us our medicine so that it works most efficiently? Mainly because there is no heat up time. Is there another vaporizer that's just as fast?

I will cry coincidence of a very explainable level here. Marijuana use is SO common now among this age group.
These studies only are now pointing out this coincidence because this group referred is now under medical care, and are free to "Fess Up" to their usage. I am not disregarding any findings... I am just saying that the totally healthy within that age group dont advertise their habits to their doctors, because of their health.. they are not "probed" (with questions and in other more obvious ways!)

My SSV is the fastest- but that is Solid State.
On 24/7, but set to low power for 8 hours while I sleep- turned back on at 4 a.m. to vaping level... not to be disturbed again.
Wand always full, always ready, and a clean pile too, for "next".
Outside of this, in the area of portables the MFLB , if ready with herb in it, is lightning fast for a happy blast!

The last time I used a "plug in" type vaporizer was several years ago, and it was a Vapor Warez. It's packed away now, and I never really researched any other vaporizers in that same class. I went straight from the Vapor Warez to the MFLB. That is why I seek your advice, as you are the master. And, in the same boat as me. :)

I have crawled on my knees... past 3 working vapes, with a loaded portable in pocket to sit before my SSV, when I was very bad off.
Not exaggerating.

Why? I know the SSV is a whip style vaporizer, like my Vapor Warez. I used a lot more herb in the VW, and I don't like that.

When I am sick, I am not counting amount of herb... I am counting time.
A session is for leisurely relief of spasticity.. for an edge off the pain.
Nausea...... When the Monster approaches, I don't have time to fuck around.. or I lose, and am at "It's" mercy.
Wand sits ready
Photoon2011-05-04at1853.jpg

SSV up to full heat. I sit, get a monster hit, worth 3 hits from another vape, and then decide if I need to go farther.
I use a standard wand so I can fill it high and aim well...
DSC01493.jpg

and... I use an extra long one besides!
Photoon2012-09-23at15073_zps3437b41f.jpg

Those are a couple of my "why's"
When I need to conserve (thank God it has not been recent) I use a Zap or another of the vapes (for a plug in.)

That makes sense. I have to be careful with the amount of herb I have, and make the most of every little bit. I get a good price for my herb, and it's great quality. I just have a lot of medical bills as of late, which is making it difficult to afford all my medicine. I'm gonna have to make some sacrifices next week just so I can pick up some kief. Gotta get it when it's available. :)

Vicki, I too find kief to be extremely helpful for nausea and also for muscle spasms/muscle tension.
I swear there is nothing better than a hit of kief (with cannabis of course) in the Solo...monster hits out of the bong.
I tried it with kief for the first time 4 days ago...and I haven't felt that much relief from muscle tensions without a benzo or muscle relaxer in so long.

Nowadays I kick start my day with kief for nausea and end it with kief for muscle tension and insomnia
