my guess is that after enough comments about a cell and charger coming with the kit that TV will eventually put kits on their site that do come with them. would be nice to have the option of "with or w/out".

either way, if the Cera performs as it is said it will then its worth the money. at least at this time in the portable game.

one thing i do want to know is what advantages the Titanium model has over the SS model. i would imagine it would be something pretty great. otherwise you could get two SS models for the price of one Ti model.

so what is the advantage?

Enough complaining about the price.
The battery sounds similar to the AW 2900 cell, but assembled in the USA. Did anyone else notice the "2C" spec? I read this as saying the current the Cera will draw is near 6 amps, implying the new core(?s?) will be about 20-25 watts of power. Also, the page for the oil version now says "Four times the capacity from previous models" which is more than the 2x we had previously been told. I'd also guess the oil and e-liquid versions have both a smaller chamber and uses less power then the loose-leaf version, but...

Nick,
Looks like an error on their website. The info within the CERA Essential Oil "section" indicates that the oil capacity is 2x's that of the original (and in line with what we've previously been told). However, the info on the 11/6/12 BLOG reads like this:

The Cera Essential Oil Vaporizer replaces the Revolution with the next generation of our award winning essential oil vaporizers.

Customers using our previous models in low voltage operation will experience a 200% increase in battery life. Customers using our high voltage devices will experience a 500% increase in battery life.

The Cera Liquid Vaporizer has over 400% increased capacity for hours of vaping between having to refill.

Improved heat distribution and new optimized flow designed specifically for essential oils results in a vapor that is cooler, denser, and has absolutely amazing flavor.

The Cera is the device that those of you who are passionate about essential oil vaporization have been waiting for.
Please take some time and visit our new website, where you canl find more information on our improved family of ThermoVape Cera vaporizers.

Note that they accidentally referenced the CERA "LIQUID" Vaporizer's capacity (which I believe has a 400% capacity increase) instead of the ESSENTIAL OIL capacity. BTW, I sent TV an email late night regarding the typo.

I doubt assembled in the USA means anything other than "We bought these cells from Japan and then wrapped them up"; but that 2C specification is quite interesting. In fact, this new cell could possibly be two 16340 incorporated in a single 18650 sized cell to facilitate the extra power.

Interesting thoughts. Much of it is, I think, basically right. While I doubt TV is actually packaging the battery (they might, of course, but it doesn't seem likely to me) my take on it is 'it's a high quality (Japanese) battery and the bulk of the labor done is US labor'. Making the base battery is a job for a machine, the real hand labor is in assembly, test, and packaging. Without looking into it I'll guess that's about as good as it gets in keeping with the 'made in USA theme'? There are no 'all made in USA Li-ions I know of.....except of course those burning brand new Fisker Karmas to the ground. We don't what that kind. I think they buy them from someone else made that way.

For sure the 2C is interesting indeed. If the power is backed off a bit (as I suspect given the increased insulation and smaller bowl) this means we're finally using the battery within spec! IMO great news, really. It should mean that (expensive) battery gives us more cycles.

OTOH, I seriously doubt the battery is in fact two smaller cells. The voltage is announced as LV, complete with news there will be a ten dollar adapter to run say a LV DART on it. Higher voltage would be no advantage. We're told it will run normal 18650s. And two 16340s would be way too long anyway. My money is on a state of the art battery of top quality. Soon we'll know for sure.

Good catch. That makes more sense to me. The bottom line to me will be what real people get using it. Revolution is great, but I too would like to see it hold more and be a bit more responsive. I think the configuration change we've been told about should do that. Soon there will be more answers and less open questions.

Thanks for the information.

Looks like the vaperblunt 2.0 need some more looking at!

I agree with you, IMO all new ideas should be considered, and I feel safe in assuring you that in this case it definitely will be......

All things are relative, or so they tell me.

I think the price of $299.95 for a set seems o.k. Just barely beating the $300 price point.
That is IF it performs as stated. Once you blow past the 250 mark people expect (and deserve) top quality.
Think I'll be watching this one real close.:nope:

CZ,

Found this on the TV website (re: batt):

*Do not use any unprotected Li-Ion Batteries. ThermoVape recommends USING ONLY 2C Protected Japanese Manufactured rechargeable Lithium-Ion (Protected ICR, Protected Li-Co, Protected Lio-Ion cells) with our products*

We sell Japanese Made, High Capacity, High Performance, 2C Protected 18650 Li-Co Cells that are assembled (the addition of protection circuitry, overwrap, electrical connections) in the USA. We purchase the highest quality cell made by the industry leader in battery technology and then have have them assembled and protected in the USA to our specification to insure maximum safety and performance.

So it looks like "assembled and protected in the USA" means said protection circuitry, overwrap and electrical connections are a "final process" performed in the USA???

Good points OF, although the batteries Fisker was using were made by A123Systems, which is now bankrupt.

Now that I think about it there really is no logical way for the cell to made of the two smaller cells; especially if they are intended to work with regular 18650's.

What will be really exiting will be to find out if TV is using the 3200mah batteries that anyone can get or if they have struck some sort of a deal with Panny to use the 4000mah ones they have been teasing for a while now.

CZ,

Right; that's what I mean't by "wrap it up". Not trying to be disparaging towards them; just pointing out the fact that Japanese Li-ion cells are pretty much the only option to a company wanting the best. I get sick of companies who try to fool consumers into thinking that they make their own in house super custom batteries (like vaporfection) to justify high price points or wait times.

Now that I've seen that website excerpt I can see clearly that TCT is not doing that; they are being very up front and that is quite respectable. Now I just wish that they would hurry up and get one in my hands!

Per the US made..... and if I can use the car analogy, I own, what I believe to be, the Rolls Royce of batteries, the Provari, a US made competitor (I've also owned or still do a Persei, GPen, Alpha and have tried countless others). Do a little research on what's out there guys.... TV makes a great product, but others do as well.

Per competition and pricing. TV is well within their right to price as they see fit. Competition will either correct the price or TV will go out of business.... of course, maybe they set it correctly and we are all whining about nothing.

@OF: Thanks... your opinion means a lot and your help here is nice. I am just awaiting the official answer from TV.

Yeah, I know. In fact I took that part out before posting not only because it was getting even more off topic but every time I got to thinking about who's tax money was wasted on that boondoggle I got to seeing too much red to find the "Post Reply" button......

Hey, at least it's no Solindra. I have to drive past that now empty building we built with our tax money to get to one of my favorite Dispensaries. Odd duck of a building, up for sale very near the closed New United Motors where Toyota made cars. Lots of cheap industrial space there too, I don't expect a quick sale:
http://solyndrabuilding.businesscatalyst.com/index.html

OTOH we have TV, which is, AFAIK, entirely self funded. Which is, I think, way cool.

Thanks.

Oh god; Solyndra. That certainly was a debacle. Though to be honest I'm surprised that the building itself hasn't sold off to some young, forward thinking entrepreneur to make some "Green" datacenter or something. That solar panel roof probably puts out like 25MW on a sunny day.

To get back on topic; I've just been looking at some of the pictures on the pre-order site and it looks like the button sticks out about a half of a centimeter while disengaged. Does anyone else think this could be a problem in the pocket?

Yeah, I saw that switch and automatically thought about the potential for it getting bumped/being uncomfortable. Not really a fan of the look of it either...

I am not sure but from what I got from Tims explanation, that button can be down and locked in the on or off position. They may have pictured it like that for comparison purposes.

It has a primary switch that has to be on for that one to work.

have you noticed the button goes through both sides, push in on one side, it sticks out on the other, with one end showing green and the other showing white. One of the more recent pictures shows this.

In ecig world you can buy a safety eletronics for the battery called two cents, maybe it's the same...

Jam,

Thanks for posting pic. I'm also wondering if this 'toggle' switch will potentially 'snag' on something and break - or just poke you uncomfortably when in one's pocket. Also interested in learning just how 'bright' the "illuminated button option" is. Hopefully it's recessed or designed in a manner that won't compromise stealthiness.

on the bright side it appears that switch would keep it from potentially rolling off a table. but it does seem like it may catch easily on things like pockets and maybe even get switched on in the pocket...?

the switch on the bottom looks great though. ill take mine in the un-illuminated please

itching to hear some performance reviews and/or see some videos.

Here are some details on the device that stick out to me.

Does not combust when left on and not inhaling.

A device that is not only equal to glass in terms of it's purity, but vastly superior to glass in it's durability. It's as strong as steel, and nearly as hard as diamond.

Fully modular. The Cera vaporizer can be converted from one version to the other by simply exchanging the cartridge.

The device is powered by a ultra-high capacity, removable, and rechargeable battery.

Completely stir-free design. No need to stir or mix in between inhalations.

The heater core is warrantied for 1 year.

LifeTime Warranty against manufacturers defects.

All Ceramic Vapor Path, twenty times stronger than glass.

Screen free, clog free, high flow, stir free, deflective air pathway mouthpiece

There is no need to hold the button on, all you need to do is simply push to turn on the Cera. Then push the button to return the Cera to the “off” position.

Does not roll on a table thanks to the safety switch.

No electronics or circuit boards to fail.

100% free from any plastic, fiber glass, silica rope, teflon, mylar, solder, or low grade metals, adhesives, glue, and epoxy; all cartridges are also free from treatments or coatings of any of our materials.

Interesting gadget. It provides some of the protection we need. Although I can't see where the current limit is specified, being designed for e-cig use (a few Amps) our higher power demands might well 'trip' it in normal use.

More importantly, such a simple device isn't going to protect us where we need it most: Discharge. To do this the circuit has to be connected to both sides of the battery. Notice you can feel a last foil connection under the wrap of protected cells? That's why.

It might well also make the package too long to fit well.

I think for most guys the best idea might be to stick with conventional protected batteries of this type.

I think this is more like an improved fuse or circuit breaker than a multi mode protection circuit.

wow. $500 for the titanium version. no FC discount?

We will not have any discounts for the limited quantity pre-sale items.

and adapters to use the new cartridge on 510 units, correct? and why does it list battery and chargers, but then say not included. can we get a better idea how the oil cartridge works? tia
bob

yes we will have thread adapters to go both ways, although our carts are much larger than anything else out there. :)

Also hoping to see these adapters down the road. Was thinking that the charger isn't included in the base kit price because many (maybe most) previous customers already the charger supplied with the Evolution (etc) which is capable of charging the 18650's?? This is a very interesting.

BTW, congrats to our Mass FC'rs on becoming the 18th MMJ state!!!

NoName

We had a HUGE number of requests to have kits sold without a charger and batteries, this is the reason we broke the charger/battery in a separate item for those it applies to.

What does the titanium offer in performance or as an extra that warrants the extra cost?

The titanium is much lighter than the Stainless and it also offers much greater resistance to small pore corrosion. (even more than stainless already is!)

Although I am still excited about this vape, the price tag seems very steep...Wonder if we will get to see an fc discount...

and yes, I am also awaiting to see some pudding. Vanilla pudding please?:ninja:

There wont be any discounts for the pre-sale.....

Yep, this is definitely on the "in case I win a nice bit of money" list. Probably gonna start looking at a desktop next...

With this there is no need for a desktop unit, it works that well!

No shipping to europe? only one of the new portables that ship to eu is the INH.

We fixed all the issues with international order, All orders welcome!

woot woot! I didnt notice that...that just makes me REALLY sad...

Its all fixed!

For the Cera+battery+charger+car thingy = $299.95 :suspicious:
Pretty good price for the basic set up. If she walks as good as she talks,I'm in!

oh she does!

No offence TV.... as I love your DART carts, but here is a little advice.

Stop following D9's pricing structure, add on hell, and proprietary threads.

@OF: Thank you for answering my question. It was asked twice and directed directly to TV. Unless you work at TV you couldn't possibly answer my question. I have yet to receive any answer from him on this question? Please... keep up with your opinions, but also... let TV do their job by providing an official answer.

Im not sure what question your asking, maybe about the older 510 parts?

We have discontinued most of our old products, although they are all serviceable and rebuildable by us.

Is there officially no FC discount on this? Going to take the plunge and order.

Congrats! you wont regret it!

I doubt assembled in the USA means anything other than "We bought these cells from Japan and then wrapped them up"; but that 2C specification is quite interesting. In fact, this new cell could possibly be two 16340 incorporated in a single 18650 sized cell to facilitate the extra power.

The benefit of having them wrapped here is the safety margin, they are close to us and if we need a change or custom spec its just a short drive to actually see and feel the new battery. For china made batteries the best you can get is a picture and maybe a sample a month later.

Our new batteries are awesome!!!

my guess is that after enough comments about a cell and charger coming with the kit that TV will eventually put kits on their site that do come with them. would be nice to have the option of "with or w/out".

either way, if the Cera performs as it is said it will then its worth the money. at least at this time in the portable game.

one thing i do want to know is what advantages the Titanium model has over the SS model. i would imagine it would be something pretty great. otherwise you could get two SS models for the price of one Ti model.

so what is the advantage?

You can get your whole Cera with or without the charger/battery. its just a simple check box :)

Titanium is lighter and resilient to corrosion, so for those of you by the ocean surfing or diving you no longer have to worry so much about corrosion.

Looks like the vaperblunt 2.0 need some more looking at!

I guarantee you WONT see any silicone or solder in our air path!!

I must remind you all, be carefull when choosing batteries!!!!! some batteries need to have protection built in to make them safe!!!!!

Rock on Tim!
If she does perform as ya say you're gonna sell a shit-ton of those things. And for once I'd like to be ahead of the curve. Oh yeah, one last thing. Have the official physical specs been released? I'm wondering what kind of footprint she has.
Ohh....last question I promise,(for now) just how many will be made in the first run? Thanks man,now get back to work!
