I couldn't handle the heat from the MFLB either. The wispr was perfect for a workout tag a long.
I actually prefer to use it while exercising. The high its a whole different rush when your body is already pumping adrenaline.

I have some vibram five fingers, if I need to work on foot strength. But you guys are crazy to run barefoot. Whats the worst thing you have stepped on?

A rattlesnake! (Okay I had shoes on and didn't step ON it . . . but almost)
I usually run barefoot on grass and one time some sort of Carnival left a metal screw in the grass and that sucked . . . got infected.

The worst thing I stepped on was the 1" stump of a fence T-post that was sticking out of the ground. It ripped a little chunk of skin off the the arch of my foot. It was bloody and embarrassing as I was leaving a little trail of blood all the way home. That was not good barefoot PR. I taped it and continued to run on it, and it healed in a few weeks. The worst laceration I experienced was when I tripped on a raised segment of concrete sidewalk. I ripped a chunk of the ball of my foot. That also took a few weeks to heal, but I could not run at all for a week. To be honest, I would take these flesh wounds over a flared up tendinopathy or degenerated cartilage any day.

At it's worst barefoot running is unpleasant. I've definitely had days where I thought WTF am I doing. But at its best it's like being in a dream. Even after 10 years I still feel like I step outside of reality for a run. Even more so when high.

Saw this thread and wanted to comment that i've been smoking before going to the gym for about the past year. I really enjoy getting off a long day at work, taking a few hits, and going to the gym. It helps me focus and get in the zone. I'm a very functional smoker period though. I'm also not your average person in the weight room. I train hard and intense, eat well, 8 - 10% bf, and quite ripped. The past few weeks i switched from combustion to vape only. Biggest difference is feeling like there's so much more air available. I used to vape with a home unit a while ago, but quit due to convenience. Recently purchased a very convenient portable, which is why i've made the switch again.

Regarding the withdraw from smoking/vaping, honestly, i've been smoking for over 15 years (mostly combustion but have had long periods of vaping), and my job now requires that i travel once or twice a month or two, so i go periods where i don't smoke. I don't notice any physical withdraw symptoms. I sleep well and do not have night sweats. I've also traveled on vacation for weeks not being able to smoke and don't notice anything. The only thing close to a withdraw symptom i've ever experienced is being slightly irritable for a day. Now, don't get me wrong, mentally sometimes it sucks not having herb, but really never any physical withdraw.

I forgot to mention night sweats. I get them from time to time and I think it has more to do with your body's state of exhaustion than the cannabis. Night sweats and insomnia are known symptoms of over-reaching; not quite over-training but a good warning sign to back off the mileage or intensity for a bit while your body catches up. I went through bouts of this when I didn't medicate too.

Where do you guys stand on cannabis and it's effects on sleep and muscle repair? I love going to the gym and I sometimes wonder if cannabis is hindering muscle repair during the night.
I can certainly fall alseep easy while using but I always tend to feel foggy for a good part of the day. So I wonder if my quality of sleep is less while using? I've also heard arguments that it has effects on testosterone and increases estrogen.
Just looking for others thoughts and insight on this subject.

High Everyone! I'm an avid endurance athlete--triathlons, endurance runs/challenges and the like. Not pro, just a hard-core amateur. I've often wondered if there are any others out there like me--serious endurance athletes that also get baked regularly. I've never had the forum to ask, until now thanks to FC.

I was a long-time combuster and recently converted to vaporizing at the end of January. I fell head-over-heels immediately, thanks to the taste and brief education I received about the health benefits versus combustion. The dude that turned me on had an Iolite and was patient in teaching me about draw speed, etc, which helped.

I now consider myself an obsessed vapor enthusiast. I've purchased two other vapes since getting the Iolite the day after I tried it (ordered my first higher-end glass piece last week and am waiting for the VXC and HI). I've not combusted since I converted, and I feel great. I wasn't a cig smoker before--just sparked herb via bong--and I never thought smoking herb hindered my training/racing all that much, especially since I'm not competitive anymore and do it because I like it and want to stay fit. But now that I've nailed my vapor preferences and routine (both portable with MFLB and at home with viVape), I certainly feel better and especially notice it when out for longer workouts (I like to get baked before long training sessions). I'm anxious to see what the next few months have in store as I further hone my vaporizing skills.

So, anyone else out there like me? Or am I a total loon as I've feared all along? :mental:

Hello!

First off all, I would like to say that english is not my first language, so it's possible that you find some weird phrases or words. I'm am very sorry for that.

In second, to reply to Vapinghole, I'm someone who train and vape. I run everyday for a minimum of half an hour and I vape very often. Since i've stop combustion, I have a much better time on my runs and I find the «high» so intense. It's million miles away from the high I was having with combustion. The vape high give me more the will to make healthy choices. With vape i'm not experiencing the «down» combustion creates.

I also have a MFLB. I love it! I've recently bought the PA. It releases all the potential of my MFLB .

:-)

I am unsure, but I'd be surprised if there was no effect, positive or negative.

I'm not quite sure, and I doubt we'll have real, tangible, scientific evidence one way or another. At least until it's legalized ;)

Personal observation: I've vaped about a minimum of 4 times a week for darn near a year now. Muscle has started packing on and I've a pretty low body-fat percentage. Most likely it's from hitting a college-puberty type of deal, but I don't feel vaping has hindered me at all.

Running is much more enjoyable, however, since smoking seems to leave you with phlegm and much more respiratory irritation. Similar for weight training.

Any negative effects breathing hot, dry vapor has on your respiratory system likely may be offset by exercising using breathing techniques I'm sure you are all well aware of. (Inhale deep, hold, exhale, rest, repeat ;) )

nothing makes me feel as good as a nice vape session and then a 2-3 mile run. when i first started vaping (thanks to this wonderful site) i was just doing it to no longer have a risk of smoke related cancer, but on a hike with my lady we realized we were talking while walking up a steep incline. this is the sort of thing that would have both of us huffing and puffing in the past but after 3 months of straight vape and no smoke, we were both AMAZED at the difference.
from that hike we moved to running/jogging and havent looked back once. i feel like a new man!

Hi all. I'm new here and new to vaping. Lurked and figured this is a nice place. I vaped with a dude on the chair lift and was hooked. Obsessed with finding a good one for my other major habit, snowboarding. So I suppose the criteria are: durable, portable, works I the cold (up in Alberta, Canada eh), higher altitudes and will last entire day with lots of use. I know right, not much to ask for.
I am into many other sports competitively so consider myself an amateur athlete. Golf, hockey, badminton, mountain biking, and wake boarding are a few of the other sports I'm into.

Hmm, honestly, I'm not sure of any portable that will last an entire day with lots of use. The WISPR uses gas, but I don't think it works in high altitudes. I think your going to have to find a station for charging at points that is for sure.

Just thought, what about the MFLB? You'll have to carry batteries with you, but it could work.

In terms of which models to get that are portable, the top ones to look at are the MFLB, Solo, the Inhalator, the Pax (battery life about an hour / hour and a half), maybe the DaVinci. I only have the Pax and the WISPR as portables, but you have a decent selection.

Batteries wouldn't be a too bad. I can handle that. I heard of issues with getting the MFLB hot enough. We ride in -12c or 10f lots.
I heard they fixed alititude issues were fixed with the Wispr but also heard that they have been exploding? I figure that's BS.

Welcome, RIPITUP! Congrats on being obsessed with finding your perfect vaporzier...it's exciting, isn't it?

Anyway, newVapor has a point with the MFLB being your best bet. And in my experience it gets plenty hot with the standard batteries. It's just that, for all day use and depending on how much you vape, you may need a shitload of batteries. One battery will thorougly vape a full "trench load," but that's about it--maybe a bit more. The good news is that a trench load should be enough to get you slammed. That's the great thing about the MFLB--it's the ultimate conservation vape (in my experience).

Also, if a lighter exists that works in high altitudes (above 5,000 ft), you could try the VG Coil, which behaves just like a pipe but contains a ceramic heating stone that the lighter heats to your desired vaping temp. I'm not sure if there are lighters that exist, though you could always try matches, but that would be a pain in the ass a likely almost impossible in snowy, cold conditions unless you had badass, long-lasting matches.

Ok, I'm baked off my ass and rambling now :freak: , so I'll again say welcome and good luck with your search.

And yes, if you have access to a charging station of sorts, that increases your options. You could consider the Pax at that point, which is the bee's knees.

Thanks Vapinghole! It is pretty exciting.
I've heard of the charging station a few times, what's dis?

Think I'll get a MFLB and a Wispr in my hands and see what I like. The vape would never be my only option. I would always bring combustibles on the mountain whether it be papers or pipe. (Sorry if these are bad words in here :p)

Well, I guess it would be good to clarify "charging station." What I meant is an actual place (your car or a lodge) in which you could use an outlet or adapter to then charge a Pax or other similar vape that would otherwise require a wall outlet at home to recharge. You would do this on breaks. But if you're out and away from all that stuff the entire time you're shredding, then a "charging station" could be something like a battery, something a bit larger that you fit in your pack, and it's powerful enough to recharge your vape two or three times throughout the day. Not sure if that exists, but I know they make snowboarding jackets that have built-in chargers for iPods/iPhones, etc...

And you won't get beaten down by mentioning "combustibles" in this forum...not that much, at least. :brow: KIDDING! We're all cool here. It's all good.

Ahh I see. I'm not to keen on carrying a charging station. I think I'll stick to something using batteries or butane. Thanks dude! I like informative forums like this; proves that human kind has a chance.

I think your best bet is the Vaporgenie with a torch lighter. Small, durable, last all day long and provides nice tasty cloudy vapours, :D

EDIT: Missed the part where V-hole said the same thing.. ahah! anyway, i think the MFLB is not pratical or any other vape you have to charge like the PAX or the INH

I agree.

The thing is, the Lotus retails at almost double the price of my wood VG, and the VG Coil for example is even cheaper. For that reason alone, i would rather have a VG than a Lotus, especially if its to be used ocasionally.

Of course, if money is a non-issue, then it is the Lotus the better choice.

I think u ll save the 40$ after 1 month of use but of course it is all about if u can affor it right now!!

I don't spend 40$ of MJ in a month, much less save that amount in the usage difference.. And the VG Coil is 75$ cheaper..

Like i said, if money is not an issue, the Lotus is the better option.
