Discontinued Pax Vaporizer by Ploom

Just got off Ploom's chatline. It literally took less than five minutes to have them ship me a new mouthpiece. They asked me if I bought it from Ploom directly. When I told them I purchased from Vape World he just asked me for a shipping address. My new mouthpiece should be here by the end of the week!

I ordered August 27th and I still haven't received my shipping email.

I am also in New York

What color did you order?

I ordered the onyx so maybe that's why.

I also am in NY, ordered ONYX August 29th vape world and no email yet either.

----

I hope we get the upgraded components. I can't wait to give this thing a test run.

At least I'm not the only one still waiting.

I do hate when a company doesn't deliver when they say they will.

But if the delay is due to improvement upgrades. Then I'm fine with waiting a little longer.

I think they're just simply still backordered mine was purple and just shipped so I assume the oynx one which was backordered much earlier than the purple still is

Hahaha that's the exact thing I said to Vapeworld but they didn't comment on that. They just said manufacturing delay. Didn't get a definite hard date on when they are shipping though. But pretty happy I'm getting in on this round instead of last.

Right, much earlier.

So wouldn't the onyx be the first to ship out?

Maybe Ploom can only manufacture one color at a time and the last to be released was purple?

I'm glad I ordered one too.

But I want it so bad a can already taste the vapor.

I just made a bong adapter for my pax. I had an old aluminum slide for my bong and found a rubber end cap around the house, cut a hole in the end cap, and pulled the aluminum slide through it. My end cap is really similar to those battery end caps for the launch boxes so any mflb owners want to see if it fits over the mouth piece tightly, you guys have a good piece to use as an adapter for the oval pax mouth piece to a round slide.

Edit, here are the pics. It was a bit of a squeeze, but it makes for a tight seal.

Slides right over the mouth piece.

And a perfect fit in the bong!

It's just a cheap $20 bong from a local head shop, but it gets the job done!

So whats the general consesus about these o-rings? Safe to use without them? Should I glue them back together somehow? I cant find them ANYWHERE. They are definitely smaller than 1/16" wall thickness, which is the smallest I could find at the local HWS. Even online, I find 1/32 wall" but they are only 1/4" in diameter

Ive read theyre for warranty purposes. But I've also read off-gassing prevention.

I bought and paid a premium price for PAX because it seemed safe. I dont want to jeopardize that.

i hope someone from ploom or someone knowledgeable (ie chemist or other credible authority) can shed some more light

first off, whats the material of the o-ring?

They're white and kind of translucent, so Im assuming silicone.

They are also pretty stretchy, almost rubberband-ish.

i found this on ploom's site

What materials are used in the construction of the device? What will the vapor come into contact with before reaching my lungs?

The product exterior is anodized aluminum, like an Apple MacBook. It’s a durable, food-safe material that also spreads excess heat. All plastic components are food-safe engineering plastics of the highest quality available. The vapor path is constructed entirely from medical grade components.

joe, how are you loaded your waxes and oils, whats the best way you found?>

Waxes & oils I always sandwich between herb but bubble and kief you can just pack right in!

I said the first one, someone else said the second ;)

Hehe, jk but if you look, the gap between the metal and plastic is outside of the oven door! And it's also really tight so I don't think they're for keeping out dirt either. Look at my pic, it's practically squeezed together:

right, also the oven is wrapped and insulated, so I cant imagine that part getting that hot. Maybe i can just use 2 small rubber bands? lol, but serious.

Did you open it and they broke? Mine are still intact but if they do break I'm planning on just leaving them out. This whole discussion was whether they did anything, or if they were just so Ploom can tell you opened it.

It's OK to enjoy your medicine.
Likely better than screws or glue..... That way Ploom can assemble and unassemble with a press while deterring tinkering? My guess..

Yes, mine broke while taking the unit apart, both of them. My temp button got jacked up from ISO, figured it wouldnt be under warranty anyway due to "improper cleaning" or something of that nature....so I went exploring.

My unit is perfectly operational (except the power button is stiff, but works), only hesistation is if I'll be breathing some sort of circuit board gas, or something.

I sent an email to Ploom, asking I should throw it in the trash. Awaiting their response.

1.) no gas is gonna be coming off the pcb, don't worry :p
2.) even if it was, the vapor path is completely isolated from the electronics, the gasses would never reach your lungs.

i'm using my unit right now with no o-rings in it, since they are both broken. it doesn't seem to get any hotter than a device with o-rings, the only difference is the device slides in and out of its shell more easily.

also, inspired by the pictures JoeKickass posted:

Here's a slightly different setup, with a small section of silicon tubing instead of the rubber end cap. I couldn't stretch the tubing over the mouth piece, but plugging it into mouth piece instead made for a tight seal.

Been here since 2009
I like the Dude's tool design.

Having used the Pax for a night, my reaction is mixed. I'm thinking the oven retaining heat might be one reason this vape really uses a lot of herb. I was using on high temp to see just how much milk could be produced.

Today I'll try on medium and see how the herb handles a couple of sessions. The big oven hold a lot of herb, too much for a single session. So the herb has to last through a couple / three sessions.

To me a tasty session is with the MFLB with the PA. I'd like to see if I could get that with the Pax on medium.

I bought this so I could load a fair amount and head outside. Have both oven and battery capacity.
