Soul Shine Family Glass

I know he's still filling the VapeXhale order. Though, you ordered Allison's stuff to. Do you know, how far with the order? Usually she keeps you up-to-date.

Yeah it should be here mid next week if their estimates are correct. USPS stops updating their tracking as soon as it leaves USA.

Great ordering/customer experience though; you'd think I ordered $1000 worth of custom glass the way they treated me.

I'm pretty sure the great beakers are 5mm, though you might want to ask Allison. Trust me, its not just a feeling you're having about a nice setup. It WILL be a nice setup. She's got a $99 tube she still has to post (though I haven't checked in a couple days)... that I'm interested in seeing. Mostly to see what angle Ray is mounting his downstems joints. I don't particularly like the angle on the small one.

EDIT: Make SURE you get the showerhead downstem. Its a MUST.

BigDaddyVapor,
It's funny, I'm almost as excited for the pendant I ordered my wife to come as I am my tube :p

Lou, make sure you specify whether you want 14 or 18 mm for any pieces you buy.

Naw, its not like that.

I just add a little more water than I really need, for stability.

Well with the in-line a/c on there, I can't blame you. I'm really putting some thought into having Ray make me a chubbler. I'd like the mini inline and I'd totally use it as a bubbler with a j-hook... but I worry about the size and weight. Gah, maybe I should just get both :p

kingofnull,
Sorry for the bump, but I got my package from Soulshine today :)

The Travel Beaker is a nice piece of kit. Mine is about 7.5" +/-. It fits amazingly well into my hand which is great for when sitting, and the weight makes it easy to hold.

The 18 mm showerhead diffuser is really great - it literally purrs, and stacks very nicely. They also sent me a 14 mm regular slit diffuser, but it's not particularly impressive or noteworthy.

It feels like a nice thick piece, although that probably has a lot more to do with it's small stature rather than actual glass thickness. I agree with BDV that extra thickness isn't necessary is pieces of this size.

There are some minor issues - the ground glass on the 18 mm diffuser is scratched and has some black markings. Wouldn't really be a big deal if the other diffuser they sent me was the showerhead. I'd just pick up a 14 mm adapter and be on my merry way. But there is no way I'd ever use their standard diffuser over the showerhead. Another item I ordered was different than what I requested, but it's hardly worth mentioning considering it was just a trinket (and the one they sent me is really damn cool too).

I've vaped three or four bowls out of it so far, and combusted one. I'm just cleaning it now, before I vape another and hopefully post some milk shots.

My vapor hits have been really nice, well conditioned. I've been having really bad issues with dryness in my throat recently and vaping through water has greatly helped. I used this aforementioned tree ash catcher, and got some really nice cool combusted hits also.
Sorry for the brief/low quality media. Soon as the piece is clean and my batteries are charged I'll upload some more.

I think I know what you're talking about on the black marking. When I put my downstem in, I noticed what looked to be a smudge (except mine's on the joint itself)... I pulled it out and whatever it is, I haven't gotten it off. But, I haven't really tried. Can't really notice it and doesn't effect function. It doesn't look like a scratch however. It reminds me of a charcoal smudge.

Let Allison know about the trinket! Its not going to bother her. She'll probably make you happy you did contact her. She is ALL about positive vibes. Always communicate with her on that level and she is a great friend/ally.

That pull @#$%ing ROCKS though.... now you know what I'm talking about. With the mini inline on there... OMG. Its another level of awesome.

BigDaddyVapor,
I'm just uploading a vapor shot now, should be done in a few minutes.

Yeah I'm not too bothered by the markings. The piece functions very well and that's really all that should matter.

I will let her know about the pendant. Maybe when/if I get the inline or the chubbler she can send it at that time. This one does look really good on my wife though, so it's not a big deal.

I'm still really on the fence with the mini inline. I combusted with an eight arm tree a/c today - and the weight was just about too much for the Travel Beaker. It didn't topple, but it really looked like it wanted to. A strong wind would've knocked it over. I love their inline, but I can't imagine having to take it out after every hit.

Side note: so vaked right now I took a pull on the beaker attached to my EQ... There were no flowers in it, haha.

edit: video below. Sorry I didn't rotate, hopefully everyone views on a laptop/tablet :D

Wouldn't exactly say I "milked it", but that's about the size hit I like to take. Didn't hold it in before exhaling because memory card was full and almost ran out of space while recording.

I have to say, I find it very addictive vaping through glass. I find myself wanting to medicate more frequently just for the experience of it. Hopefully that'll subside in the next few days.

You really don't need the inline (Allison would smack me for that. lol). If I had got the travel beaker w/o it... but with the showehead, I'd be quite happy. You've experienced it. It just feels right, hitting it.

Go back and read my post on 5mm glass. This thing, other than being dropped from height and/or onto concrete... has survived, w/o a scratch. Not saying, to go kick it over... but its built rugged (the whole package). If you get the 14mm, it will balance even better than mine. I would also suggest the Keck clip, I think its help absorb/dissipate some of the energy from the falls.

Mine, at rest on a flat surface, does not want to fall over. It takes more than just a nudge to tip it. Granted, not much... but, yeah... it'll go. I just always put it down on a flat surface (and remove any attachments to the inline, such as roasting tube... though it does balance with that also). I don't take the inline out though. Its always in, unless I'm cleaning it.

EDIT: That was a NICE hit. Looked like an awesome flavor pull to.

BigDaddyVapor,
I've got both the 14 and the 18, but only the 18 is a showerhead. It's just as well since all my slides are 14 so I'll just keep the regular diffused for combustion.

No ash catcher is really required. The showerhead does a great job of conditioning the vapor. AGW used to offer a micro ash catcher which I'm interested in though.

But yeah, I totally see what you were talking about now. It's a really decent downstem.

And yes, it was an extremely flavourful hit. A very light fruity sativa dominant strain.

This is the pendant Allison sent me. It's a very trippy piece, the arms shift when the angle changes, and when the light hits it just right it practically glows.

Edit: what is the size of keck clip required?

I`m thinking of naming this piece Dr. Bunsen Honeydrew.

18/14 keck.

Beautiful piece. It almost looks like CGI graphics, hologram. I keep forgetting to snap one of my wife's necklace. I'll remember that tomorrow.

It's weird, the 18/14 doesn't seem to fit my mine. Maybe I just didn't apply enough pressure, but the keck was pretty stretched and it didn't snap on. Hmm.

I really like this dry piece also.

$65 is more than I'd normally pay for a glass dry pipe, but this one is speaking to me. If I get anything else from SSFG, and it's still available I'll snap it up.

BTW, I noticed today, that the smudge was actually on the downstem. Its been a while since I cleaned it. Doesn't really get that dirty in the beaker. But, yeah... It was a lot smaller when I noticed it. Like a black residue (charcoal?). When I tried to wipe it off, it smudged. So I know its not a crack, nor a scratch.

This is the necklace Allison made for my wife. As I said before, my wife isn't big into jewelry. In fact, besides her wedding ring, nothing else. All Allison knew, was my wife was a redhead. When I opened the package, my wife's eyes lit up. She wears it every time we go out, with the earthy tones my wife likes, it looks lovely on her.

And for those that don't read the HI thread, kingofnull wanted to see the Travel Beaker with showerhead downstem and HIsaber Sumac.

I had a similar black smudge on the lip of my Evolver HydraTree, and when I asked him about it he said it was just an accidental "tool mark"

Its mostly disappeared with time though.

SD_haze,
Yeah Allison said the markings are from graphite tools and that rubbing them with iso should make them disappear.

Sure wish I lived closer to NC, I'd love one of these terrariums.

Does anyone know why the 18 downstem has such a big bulge of glass compared to the 14?

BigDaddyVapor

@BigDogJunction
Yeah, the mark is definitely fading. Its just never bothered me. As I saw, the smudge being made, I knew it want anything major. But, each time I pull it out to clean, it looks more washed out and faded.

BigDaddyVapor,
The vapor didn't look as thick on that one. Still a sweet video.
I'm going to get a worked diffused slide from them, as well as maybe an oil dish. Allison is going to send me some photos. I did want to spread my glass wealth around to a few companies, but SSFG keeps impressing me.
