Athlete Vaporists?

Vaping now, been combusting for years, boxing, running, and weight training multiple times per week for years as well.
Imo, herb and athletics go well together....focus is improved, endurance is for me as well.

Awesome, VV! And I agree with you--herb and athletics are a great combo! Vape on, brother!

Well, hey, I am a swimmer usually two times a week. I am interested in yoga, and "savate" from time to time(this is a kind of kick boxing but with different rules, it is a french boxing style)

I can say at the first that smoking is completely destroying my aerobic capacities. Usually, smoking a bowl one or two days before going to the swimming pool make me barely able to have a decent rythm while swimming.

As for vaporizing, I do not know much, but I vaporize because I do like too much this product, hoping that it won't destroy my lungs. At least, I know that this is less painful than smoking. A specific question I have in this matter would be to know exactly how much carbon monoxyd there is in the vape, because it is one of the major factor that decreases the aerobic capacities.

Indeed, carbon monoxyd (CO) is an incomplete product of combustion, and it takes the place of the oxygen in red blood cells, preventing the oxygen to be well transported. I would like to know if CO may be producted while vaporizing at 200°C.

While I am absolutely no expert, in my opinion, you answered your own question. CO is a product of incomplete combustion due to a low % of oxygen. But if nothing is combusting (I vape at about 200 °C and have never seen an ember) than nothing is being broken down and, in theory, no CO is produced. I've always pictured vaping as a change of states (THC solid ---> THC gas) whearas combustion is a chemical reaction, causing a change in the compound with CO as a by product.

I've recently started taking two large vapor bong hits before going for a indoor climbing session and I've found a massive increase in focus. I totally zone out from my surroundings and purely take in the climb I am doing at the time, it feels so awesome and I've been able to do a couple of hard routes that I've previously failed at.

this is a great workout for all ages. Quick, intense and it works well. There are tons of other workouts on their main site, but having thoroughly researched and experimented, this one is no joke and most are.

equally, if not more, important to getting fit, is nutrition (and sleep). Read this for some in-depth truth.

Ok, I'll chime in from the opposite end of the spectrum. 2 back surgeries from a chopper crash years ago (still with some back pain), head surgery in 2011 from trigeminal neuralgia, and a recent vehicle accident that left me banged up pretty good. I was pretty involved in mma in the beginning days.and won a gold metal in martial arts competition. Yeah, back in the 90s, haha.
I want to start working out again, but I would like some direction. I'm over 50 yrs old. Always been active in the past but the last couple years I've fallen in that regard. Is there a beginning program to help motivate some of us older, pre injured guys to get going? something like p90 or such. Diet and exercise areas. It seems most of that stuff is geared toward folks under 40 yrs. Anyone know of a good site or two? Or should I suck it up start calisthenics, roll thru some pain, get into walking, then fast walking, minor weights, etc. I know the way for a younger guy, but what about older Dudes. You should get into walking. Use the strava app. You can track your work outs, and see improvements. I hike across the city and enjoy sitting back and vaping and staring into my epic journey that day. You get to make cool segments too, try and beat your friends up a hill.

I recently started to put a more active efforts in my goal to be more fit and i discovered two sites that also have iphone apps that i find quite interesting.

One is problably know to many, Runkeeper ,you can use the iphone app to use while running and it logs your session with calories, pace, time and gps tracking. Or you can manually add your route using the website which uses a plugin for google maps and then with the time you put in, you can see some stats although not as many as with the app.

After i discovered RunKeeper and ran into Fitocracy which also pairs with runkeeper to log the runs, and is essencialy a community of health-driven individuals who compete and evolve through points given by the exercises they perform. It is like Diablo to get in shape, and a good motivator because it is a fun way to track your performance, and we all know tracking is key when you are serious about exercise.

So, these are my latest findings on the web and i am much more motivated then before to exercise. Hope it is helpfull for all you athlete vaporists! :)

Thanks, vorrange! Solid. And I'm pleased you're getting fit.

Thanks VH, been running every morning for the past week! Yesterday i started Tabata sprints but i am still struggling to maintain my energy for the entire 4 minutes of the set. Combustion still hindering my progress but i'll get where i want.

Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, Wrestling, Kettlebells

:)

BJJ is so relaxing

I wanted to try BJJ and Kettlebells but the money is tight and so is the time to do all of those things.

I have a CrossFit gym where i live, when i get the time i am gonna start strength training with the kettlebells until i have money and capacity to get a decent weight like 24 or 32kg.

BJJ or MMA is another.. i trained kickboxing for a few years so i thought it was time for a more grappling/defensive martial art.

If you are interested in Kettlebells and have Amazon Prime or know someone who does get the CAP kettlebells. They are the best deal you'll find. The 35 lb is like 48 bucks with free shipping with Prime membership.

I got a 35 lb, 50 lb and 70 lb. I do the Enter the Kettlebell workout and after just 2 months I work exclusively with the 50 and 70 lb. Strength and endurance increase quickly with these :)

I weigh ~185 and I don't even run anymore, just kettlebells, BJJ and wrestling. I really like kettlebells also because they are so minimalistic and you can get a nice workout outside where you can get sun at the same time. Plus the heat makes the workout harder.

I am not a athlete, but I do work out alot and enjoy running. I average 14 miles per week unless I am training for something. I love to vape before I go run. It really helps me when I am running on a treadmill. Normally I can't make myself stay on one because I think they are boring, but if I get stoned first I can just listen to music zone out and lose track of time. I can't get high before I go on a serious run outdoors because I get so distracted and start taking photos with my phone, or run past something cool and stop.

High Everyone! I'm an avid endurance athlete--triathlons, endurance runs/challenges and the like. Not pro, just a hard-core amateur. I've often wondered if there are any others out there like me--serious endurance athletes that also get baked regularly. I've never had the forum to ask, until now thanks to FC.

I average about 120 km / 20 miles per week of hiking and no noticeable effects from vaping even above 1000 m

I am active but have never REALLY been an athlete. I prefer small group but mostly individual activities based on life and time constrains.
I have always been an avid cyclist. I used to commute via bike and do multiple hour 25-100 mile rides often on the road. Cut my teeth mountain biking and got quite good at that. Since having a child that has taken a hit due to time constraints. I actually haven't been on a bike in over a year....first time over a couple months off in winter since I was an early teen, so about 25 years of regular cycling....minus this year.....
About 6 months ago, feeling out of shape I began swimming 4-6 miles per week. Six months later I love it and I feel and look great. I really, like swimming, it's quick, relatively, about 30 minutes,, and effective at toning muscles and providing good opportunity for intervals.
Also, hiking/ backpacking and cross country skiing depending on the season. If I had my preference, my favorite, I must say is cross country/ back country skiing. Great mix of cardio, strength and thrill. Love being outdoors for hours and pushing limits.

Herb has always gotten me in the zone super fast and easy.

I never thought I would admit this nor even feel this way but over the years I have become scared of injuring myself and see that as part of what has kept me away from cycling and skiing, over the past couple of years. My job is VERY body oriented and physical. If I ever broke my wrist I would be I really bad shape financially.

I enjoy bicycling as part of my daily routines, on weekends however I usually venture of in about 16-20 mile bike rides. At every half way point I stop take a quick breather and a few rips from my MFLB. It is a soothing sensation bicycling on the way back, although the adrenaline sometimes takes over the fade when I speed up.

Anyone who broke their wrist would probably be in a world of hurt.

Cycling is not any more dangerous than not working out/staying healthy. If your job is so physically oriented, wouldn't you be more likely to injure yourself there.

I didn't ever think that I would admit that I ride my bicycle more than my motorcycle, truck and car combined. Cycling and vaping is my life blood that keeps me going. I could never give them up.

Get back on those wheels and get some pedaling in!

I am a Muay Thai fighter and vape before every training session. Just like when you play video games and being high seems to let you feel more 'in' the games, which in turn makes you try harder to do cool shit.. same goes for training. As for the benefits of vapin over smoking I've always been a bit of a mutant in that I never experienced any loss of performance through over 10 years of daily/nightly toking.

I've had to chill on training recently due to an issue with my fucking back molar. It needs to come out. Ugh. I'm on antibiotics, probiotics, and ibuprofen until I get to the oral surgeon. Take care of your teeth, folks. No matter how good they look on the surface. I'm learning a hard lesson.

I'll soon be back at it, that's for sure!

Even if you Co does replace oxygen in the body after vaping, your body will if vaped constantly before exercise increase the red blood cell count to make up for the lack of oxygen. Even if this is speaking strictly technical, it makes perfect sense. Why use an altitude chamber or climb 6000 feet? All you need is to vape before some exercise to achieve somewhat the same results. Doesn't this make sense to anyone? Correct me if i'm wrong.
