...This version, however, seems to run at a much higher temp than the older ones (since the first use). Even on the absolute lowest possible setting the herb goes from green to dark brown in just a few seconds..

They were running hotter in 2011 because of some factors... We compensated for people wanting hotter hits, and the municipal voltage became higher on average. Luckily, the unit is now made to be hackable.

Here's the fix: If you turn it over, having the serial number facing you, there are 2 holes immediately below the serial number, with 2 adjustments inside. They are little white dials with a small slit in each that's shaped like an arrow. You will need a tiny screwdriver (unplug the unit!) or use a fat tooth pick to turn the adjustment screws. Turn the left one clockwise as far as it will go. This will lessen the low end temperature only. Try your vaporizer. If it is still too hot, turn the right one clockwise about 1/2 turn at a time to decrease the overall heat of the unit. Fine tune it later if you want.

Definitely do this with the power unplugged if you're using a metal screwdriver. Don't blow yourself up. Let me know if this fixes the problem, ok?

Awesome, I think that fixed the problem. I was only able to turn the left screw about 1/4 turn, and the right one only about 1/6 of a turn, but that was all it needed I guess.

After taking hits at the new setting, I realize why it was such a problem for me. My natural draw is long and slow, so it gets way too hot. With this temp, I can go slow and ease the temps up and down easily judging by the taste. With the hot temp, I had to pull really fast, and this is hard when using the hydrator attachment. The lower temp also lets me put my finger over the bowl when I shake it up.

Thanks for the great customer service, Linus. Any other hacks you can tell us? :)

More hacks, hmmm. I use two vaporizers on the floor to step on and stretch my calf muscles. Put grip tape on the slant portion and step on it, leaving your heels on the floor. Maybe that's more of a human hack. Reach down past your toes to grab inside the top of the box to get an extraordinary hamstring stretch.

Thanks for the good words!

Hi All

I'm trying to decide between a Vaporbros Standard and the Hands-Free

http://www.vaporbrothers.com/pages/products/vaporizers.html

There's even a page on the website that maps out all the differences, but I was hoping to get an opinion from someone here who has used it.

I'm confused about the ground glass vs non ground glass and I'm worried it's going to affect my hits. I'm looking for a vape that I can turn while vaping (I'd do it with the ground glass) to evenly vape it, but I'm afraid without the ground glass it'll be a lot less airtight and let in more air to my hits :( I usually cut the cord as short as possible and just try to take the fattest hits (trying to switch from blunts, so extreme measures are taken)

any and all help will be appreciated

thanks in advance

Will you be using a bong with your setup?

I'm confused about the ground glass vs non ground glass and I'm worried it's going to affect my hits.

With ground glass your wand and heater cover will mate. Non ground you simply hold the wand to the heater cover to make the connection. With ground glass you would need to stir the herb to get even vaping, while the standard whip you could rotate the whip much easier giving you a more even vape.

I wouldn't worry too much about airtight connection with the standard whip. If you're worried about airy hits, the standard whip might be more efficient as you have more control over even heating.

here http://bit.ly/GJxGeX is info from our faq. copied below.

a few more thoughts from me about the Standard version:
1) it's CHEAPER for the vap and also cost less to replace the whips later on.
2) it's HARDER TO BREAK. the ground glass of the Hands Free is more weak, especially if you tap the whip on a hard surface.
3) the herbs need less stirring because the hot air is directed all around the bowl (you can rotate the whip around)
4) the hot air from the vap is mixed with cool air from air leaks around the loose connection, increasing the turbulence inside the bowl, preventing hot spots on the herb. Also, the vap will stay hot even if a bunch of people hit it in rapid succession. The Hands Free loses heat quicker if used by many people.
5) It's annoying to use a Standard with a water pipe or steamroller because you have to hold the whip at the same time. Or anywhere you wish you had another hand free- such as while you're operating heavy equipment- best to use Hands Free version in those situations.
6) overall i prefer the standard over hands free, but most people prefer hands free.
7) the whip stays cool, not too hot.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------

A: Choosing between Standard and Hands Free vaporizers is personal preference, as each method has its drawbacks and benefits. The way in which the Whip Handpiece connects to the heater is the main difference between Standard and Hands Free units.
Standard model: The user holds the Whip up to the heater while they inhale, and pulls it away between draws.
• our original glass on glass design.
• easy to rotate around while taking a draw to get an even browning of the herbs.
• glass stays relatively cool.
• can be used (in hands-on fashion) on Hands Free vaporizers too.

Hands Free model: Ground Glass Whip stays connected to the heat source without having to hold it in place.
• preferred by newcomers 2:1
• requires you to stir the herbs to get even browning of herbs.
• tip can become very hot during use - beware.
• whip can be left on the heater for long term.
• grants you an extra hand (what will you do with it?)
• cannot be used in Hands Free mode on a Standard model vaporizer.
Note: All Standard (or Regular) accessories are compatible with the Hands Free vaporizer. (i.e. Standard Whip Handpiece, Regular Fancy Whip, Mini Whip, and Aromabulb.) Hands Free Whips are not intended for use with Standard vaporizers.

Hey Linus. I've been using the new EZ change Whip with the ceramic handle and mouthpiece. I'm having a problem with the clear plastic hose falling off of these pieces. Seems like they are stretching the hose and I'm having to cut the hose before putting it back on. Will the silicone hose remedy this?

That's weird- we thought the silicone was more likely to slip off because it's floppier. You can try heating the clear hose slightly with a lighter and shoving it on again. The softened material will slip on farther and may stick better. If you get a silicone hose, tell me what you find out. You can also email me at us at vaporbrothers dot com.

My clear plastic hose had the same problem. It would eventually fall off the ez change whip handle.

I bought a silicone one from vaperwarehouse and it works much better in my opinion.

The ez change with ceramic handle is my favorite vape add on it is so handy. One of my biggest problems with using whips was how hard it was to clean or how much time it took to clean now I just change the screen 10secs and I'm done. Also the whip tubing from vapolution works great on the ez change and the 14mm water pipe adapter. Thanks to this new whip set up my vaporbrothers is back to being my daily driver

hello,

I just got a non-working (the leds goes on but no heat at all) used unit -serial number 63478- from a friend and I am wondering if VaporBrothers will be able to fix this and how much that might cost...

Any idea if old units in South America may be sent for repair as well? Apart from shipping and handling how much that might cost?

Thank you very much!

Yes it's covered regardless, so please see the repair form on our website and ask us@ vaporbrothers dot com for more detail how to get your unit fixed + price estimate for shipping back to South America.

Brand new model here :) Our all ceramic easy screen changing whip

you can drop it, tap it on a hard surface, shock it with water, all the things that you can't do with glass

it breaks only if try, such as dropping it on concrete. and it's not dangerous to you like broken or cracked glass.

and it costs less too, being made in a mold.

and of course, if made by vaporbrothers, that means no lead or foul smelling plastics are allowed in the design. the soft materials are medical grade, always been... enjoy!

Hello!

I am wondering if it is worth or not giving rebirth to this VB gifted from a friend and would need some opinions.

To make it travel from south america to california is 20 us$
the repair itself is 35 us$
shipping it back here is 45 us$
if it gets taxed in customs (as mostly "over 50us$, s/h included" packages arriving here do) will need to pay more 60% over 80us$ which is 48 us$

For you guys Vaporbrothers lovers, would you pay 150 us$ (no whip or "bonus" included) to get the unit back to life? Also, how can I know which model is this unit? Can someone find it out from the serial number info (63478) or from some pictures of the unit itself? Which types/sizes of whip should fit in there?

Thanks a lot!

That's fkn crazy! Actually, I've been talking to the girls in customer service, and they only remember 2 instances in the last 10 years where someone got screwed in customs by having to pay tax on a repair. But it wasn't $48. Since we mark it as a repair, it can't (shouldn't!) be considered a purchase of goods. If you do get your customs on you for what you don't owe, you could refuse the shipment maybe.. I could talk to my folks here again to see what's best. We'll be looking out for your vaporizer. I'm looking for a spare handsfree Whip around the shop here to throw in as a gift.

Soo, the total should be $100 for all shipping and repair. It's a good vaporizer- at #63,478 it's not that old. When we repair it we replace all the insides and electronics with our newest controller and ceramic heater, and we reset the warranty as well. It's like a new unit.

If you'd like a brand new unit instead, you can opt for the half price deal that only VB repair customers get, but tell me if you're interested.

Hi Linus,

Yes, things are much more than fucking crazy around third world official departments. No laws at all, depending on the person that we confront on our daily deals... You know, I love to repair old gear instead of just throwing away and buying new (and more disposable than the older versions...) stuff. These last months I was working on an old outboard engine (British Seagull if you know something about it) and had to request an used/refurbished replacement part and it came from England, and it was clearly stated "USED COIL" on the package and the price was lower than the accepted "tax-free" limit, but that did not matter very much as someone from the taxes department decided it was some "decoration part" and the price was much over its actual price and had to decide from paying the taxes thay asked for or giving it away... I payed :(

So, I will send the box to be repaired to your site this week and hopefully it will reach your end soon, be repaired and get back taxes free as it is supposed to be. Gifts like the whip you offered are pretty much welcome! Thank you very much!

Cheers!

I might make mistake that engine for decoration also ;) It's hard enough to get parts for my Johnson.

vaporbrothers,
I love my VaporBrothers and the customer service is a cut above. I am so going to see what I can come up with for cash I need that all ceramic whip so I can get more pics up and a proper review I was not a big fan of the original EZ Change kit.

Oh My God, you gotta read what just happened around here!

Yesterday I was finally taking the VB defective unit to the post office, the paper sheet printed and filled in, all info on how to send money orders (and that's damn expensive...) to the US when I just met a friend on the streets near here who's a kind of "Mc Gyver" person and loves to fix/destroy/see how it works all kind of stuff. I told him the story, diagnostic and quickly showed him the defective box I had with me, and he asked me something like: "Would you like me to take a look at it? Leave that with me just for tonight and I will either get it back to you fixed or exactly as it is, I promise! No longer than tomorrow...". Well, I did, as far as I had not much to loose...

Some minutes ago, this morning my friend just called me and started kidding: "You know, I made a big mistake yesterday asking to repair your unit, I couldn't really open the box and broke it completely, and now you're probably not able to send it back for customer service...." and I started feeling really worried and sad, but then he just laughed and said something like "Do you really believe that? HAHAHAH! Man, it is completely fixed, I just had to reconnect a wire that was broke and it NOW WORKS perfectly!"

Yupiiii!!!! Oh man I got really excited with that!!!! I just had my friend save me all the time and effort that would be spent to have that broken wire fixed in the USA!

So, I am taking back my working unit today and will post some review on it as soon as possible.

Cheers!!!

A wire, huh? That's very random.

If you really get into trouble with this vaporizer, I'll help you out. Just email us at vaprobrothers dot com.

Don't forget to pack light and fluffy, and enough to cover the screen. Draw the air in fast. Try low temp settings first. that's it have fun.

I've been playing with a Vaporbrothers with the Hands Free EZ Change Whip for about 3 weeks now, and this thread is so quiet, so I thought I should post a quick review. :)

Before the VB, I had mostly used a few different types of log vapes and an MFLB, so this was definitely an interesting change. The VB has been around for a long time, and it's clear that they have put a lot of thought into refining it over the years. My impression after a few weeks: works great! There are already a few friends who want to borrow it. ;) The draw is similar to an UD silicon tube, but with a much longer tube and a much faster heatup time. The long tube and larger bowl (larger than on most log vapes) was definitely more convenient for multiple people. But I find logs to be more conservative, due to the smaller bowl--it's the standard trade-off. The quick heat-up time on the VB is really nice too, but the VB can get pretty hot if you turn it up too high. I managed to cause a little combustion briefly a couple of times. I've gotten the hang of it now, though, and don't have any issues with combustion.

Rumor has it that, after using the same basic/reliable shape/design for years, Vaporbrothers is working on a new vaporizer design. This current one is solid enough that I know I'm curious about what they are coming out with next. :brow:
