The CVault - Climate Controlled Storage

I keep mine in tinfoil inside of a "lock tite" tupperware container in the freezer. A small glass jar would also work. The big thing is to minimize moisture/humidity getting to the kief.

A CVault without the humidipak would also work great I think.
I think I'll try tinfoil inside of glass jar in the freezer. Thanks jackmormon.

I purchased the CVault and it does seem to keeps your goods better than just storing them in a mason jar. Also, I can verify that there is no smell at least with my stuff and as it's stainless steel - light won't be hitting the contents. If your going to store herb in the CVault, please take my advice and buy the large size. I initially purchased the small CVault and it's just to tiny to store herb - but it's wonderful for Keif so I'm not disappointed. I will be placing an order for the large CVault to store my herb soon. I'll report back over the next few months when I determine how it works as a storage device over the long term. I received my small CVault within 3 days of placing the order online and I felt the price was reasonable so I'm happy with it thus far.

Best!

I have a small CVault and love it. It is a good size for me but I normally have 2 to 3 strains so I need to get a couple more.

Just FYI - I emailed Freshstor (makers of the Cvault) today as I was concerned that I would have to re-purchase the humidipacks every 60 - 90 days as that's how long the website advised they would last. To my surprise, I received a prompt reply advising me that if I keep the humidipacks stored in an airtight container, they will last between a year and 18 months. Knowing that, I'll buy 10 at a time, store them in a canning jar, and be good to go for quite some time.

Yes, I posted similar info a few posts back: "What we were told by the manufacture is to keep them tightly sealed in as small an airspace as possible and store them off the floor at room temp, in the dark."

chimpybits, this is just my experience. I *LOVE* the CVault for flowers but I would not keep kief in there. I put about a gram in the was in a wax paper fold and it definitely absorbed moisture and turned kind of clumpy. It also changed colors after drying out. Still vaped OK though.

EDIT-My kief was loose. I think pressed kief may absorb enough moisture that it might fall apart.

I've always been under that impression that you want to store kief the same as bud.

i want to know of anyone testing long term storage w/ these
and if anyone is doing side by side testing w/ humidipacks in a normal mason jar
tia
I have one Cvault that I haven't touched for 3 months. 3 months isn't that long but from what I can tell the buds are as fresh as the day I put them in. I am sure that a mason jar with a humidipack will have the same result also a lot cheaper.:2c:

You really think so? I have looked at these, but use the mason jar/humidipack method, and have never been disappointed. Not sure if this is worth the extra money, for me.

Maybe I didn't say that right. I do think a mason jar with a humidipack would be just as good as the Cvault.

So I'm a little confused.

When this thread started, vtac said, (as info from freshstor): regarding the humidipack
"According to Freshstor they last 60-90 days in the CVault. You can tell it's time to replace when the gel-like feel of the pack turns hard. "

Well, its been... over 7 months since I first got mine, and its basically never not had herb in it. BUT, my humidipack has never been replaced and it still isn't any stiffer/harder than the day I got it :hmm:

so i am making a total guess, but maybe your jar isn't being opened a lot, or the herb is still fresh and not quite cured when it goes in initially? maybe?

from my experience they are a bit pessimistic. Humidipacks last me 6 months in a bale top jar.

I changed my first humidipack after 3 months even though it was still "gel" like feeling. Just to see for myself what they feel like when 'done', I left the original humidipack out for a couple of weeks and it finally dried up. I've probably had my second humidipack for about 4 months now, and it's still soft so I'll leave it in until it starts to solidify this time.

Currently use the tightvac, have the 1.29 liter one which holds about 2 ounces at a time...recently noticed a crack in mine (dang platic) which dried out too much some new stuff i had for about 2 weeks. My main concern is size, would the large one be able to hold about 40-50 grams or should i go with the extra large. Also are the humidipacks exposed ( if i fill the cvault to the top , will it be touching the humidpak?)

Mynameismud,

smokum

I am who I am and your approval isn't needed!
There is a stainless 'sleeve' in the top that the pak's slide into.... won't touch your bud.

A medium CVault is on the way! Should be here Monday, maybe Tuesday. I have a tasty little nug that's gotten a bit on the dry side; it will serve as an excellent guinea pig. Once I read some real world feedback from you guys, specifically that the medium can hold an oz, I bought the right size for me. FC to the rescue once again

Anyone have the large? If so about how much on average can it hold??

In a Kush Expo video I was watching, they glazed over a Cvault booth with what looked like an XXXXXL version

Seemed like it could hold many, many pounds O_O

I am really liking my C-Vault. I currently have one of them. I use it to store my "go to" strain. I take a quarter at a time out of my medical locker and place it in the c-vault. It keeps everything fresh for the period right before I use it. I was place it in some glass jars and it was getting too dried out. I am even thinking about getting one more medium size container. Was going to do a quick gear review soon. I wanted to try and go through one humidity pack first. They do seem to last quite a long time.

Is there a cvault that can hold about 3/4 of a pound and how much the biggest one hold?
I'd think so, I was watching a video on the 2012 Kush expo and saw the Cvault booth. At the booth there was one cvault, must have been an XXXXXXL because it looked like it could hold multiple pounds.

So I'd contact cvault directly to see what the options are for bigger-than-listed sizes
