Discontinued ThermoVape Evolution

Have you tried the pure flow on it yet OF?

No, I have not. For now, I'm using it 'barefoot', I want all the feedback WRT heat, taste and so on I can get for now.

While I'll try the pure flow filter I expect it to have the same flow restriction and low water capacity issues it shows on T1 use. There, and I suspect here, the call is "smooth flow moisture conditioner" which has a larger ceramic insert but as a ring, not a filter, so flow is not resisted like in the filter. The filter version (with it's restriction and lower water content) does a bang up job on Revolution and Dart where the restriction is needed, without the filter in place you need to use a restricted mouthpiece instead.

In general these two devices do what they say it seems. IMO they do smooth it out and cool it off some but merit some caution, especially with Dart and Revolution. You loose the references to the 'taste and feel' of the vapor and you can overtoke way too easy.....

Do these fit the Thermovapes (I have a T1, but the mouthpieces all fit the same).

well it does not specify what size it is but id be willing to bet it fits 510 sized carts. if that is th case then yes it should fit TV products.

As I recall the Fed Ex story that's absolutely normal. Everything flies 'into the hub' gets sorted in a few hours and flies out on a different airplane. IIRC they are actually the largest airline, but don't carry passengers.

That's how the do that awesome overnight delivery. Those packages are routine, not special cases.

As I understand it, that was how Franklin built the first US Post Office. Before that mail went more or less the right way by random acts (like today), he had everything brought to the capitol to a single large room with tables for each colony. From the tables established systems took the mail in bulk back to the 'home area' for distribution. We stopped dealing with individual letters for the most part. Delivery everywhere in the country became uniform, cheap and predictable. Fed Ex just freshened it up with jets.

Thanks for the history lesson, OF. :science:

Yer welcome, bro. It's fun for me to see how things fit together.

As the Good Book so clearly says in 'the Preacher', "there is nothing new under the sun". It then goes on to explain "all is vanity and striving after the wind" so I suggest we call it quits with the sun part?

Just received my Evolution in the mail about half an hour ago and thought I would pass along my initial impressions.

I ordered the Evolution to use with my e-cig mod, and I tried a few hits with the mod, and was able to get a couple of very light hits. My mod is designed to cut off after 10 seconds and is only rated for 2.5 amps, which from what I read earlier may be too low for the high voltage model. I ran my mod at a few different voltages and never got a good hit, but there may be a learning curve to the hitting with the mod, so I will endeavor to try and find the magic hit.

A few pages back Sessnet asked about compatibility with the TV1 so I thought I would give it a try. I unscrewed the TV1 original bowl and screwed in the Evolution, let it warm up for 10 seconds and got an absolutely amazing hit. Well, I thought what the hell, it is 4-20, why not try another? The second hit made me cough and spit trying to hold it in! Did two more after that and decided it was time to stop. The last two hits were lung busters. I don't know if anyone has noticed but I am typing much slower now.

I have gotten some mean hits from the TV1, but the Evolution blows it away! I hope I will be able to find the patience to use the Evolution with my mod, but it will be tough knowing how it hits with the TV1. The Evolution is very small, and for a personal user is great for a few quick hits and back in the pocket. Warm up time is faster and the temperature of the bowl seems to hold better heat for even quicker second and third hits.

I can't tell you guys and gals at Thermovape how much I have enjoyed using your products! It is nice to spend money on a portable vaporizer that works as well as yours does, I still feel that it has been my best buy so far. I can tell by my stash that you have saved me a lot more in efficiency that I paid for the unit.

My apologies if this seems a bit rambled, I am medicated very well right now, maybe more later.

IMO, excellent job Thermovape, what a tiny beast! Now back to trying the mod!

First off, thanks so much for that first line!!! That is GREAT. I don't know who writes your material, but they clearly deserve a raise..... Best laugh in a week, once I caught on...

Secondly, 'save your breath'. Literally. You've hit the problem square on the head. 2.5 Amps is not enough steam. We're looking for 20 Watts to drive the heater. Divide the 20 by 6 Volts and we'll need 3 and 1/3 Amps, nominally. Best to have a margin on that, IMO 3.5 is the absolute minimum. Better with more.

And I agree, this rascal comes into it's own when you give it the power it was designed to get. Too bad that mod looks so funny, but it works great. Think of the barrel as an extra heat shield? Lucky you don't have to explain it to friends, it does have that 'Buck Rogers' look from the business end, doesn't it? The proper 'adapter' piece is probably not all that expensive, you can swap over the ring and switch.

Thanks much for the post, I too am trying to get to know my new found friend. Hard to do, I keep getting distracted......

Well good ol' USPS dropped my evolution off a few hours ago and like Dogman said, well it is 420, like I need an excuse, time for a good morning session. My first bowl I filled loose about 2/3 full. My first hits were not giving me much visible vapor but the flavor was there. I think I was not giving it enough of a warm up. With a bit of a frustrated, I'll show you attitude I packed another bowl with some Chem D wax in between. I noticed as I was packing the second bowl I was beginning to feel a good head change, which really surprised me since I was not getting too much visible vapor but was definitely starting to feel medicated.

With the second bowl I am getting more visible vapor with a longer warm up and pulsing the switch towards the end of the hit to make sure it does not get too hot or cool off too much if I completely let off the switch. I do notice the mouthpiece gets quite warm and at this point I start to pulse the switch. I am still not getting any clouds like Dogman mentioned but I also dont have the TV1, just the revolution so I think working on the drawing technique will help me get more vapor.

Getting towards the end of the second bowl and I feel like I will not need any more for a few hours then more testing.

TV1 is just the body+battery I believe? The Revolution ships with the same battery+body (t1) as the Herb chamber does...but I could be wrong...?

This directly parallels my first experience. I think the nature of the 'flavor profile' is different and that throws my instincts off.

I think an expectation change is in order on my part. It's a tiny bit of herb and there's useful effect there if I don't get hung up on seeing lots of vapor and my other traditional markers. Take it for what it is, rather than what I think is should be? We tell the new guys all the time, "did it work? Then go by the effect".

Hey, it's only good manners, right?

Right, that is my understanding as well, but could be wrong. I was referring to not being familiar with TV1 in terms of warm up time and drawing technique. I am still working on producing more than whispy hits but the odd thing is those whispy hits have me medicated to the point that I should be with the amount of medicine I used. So it seems all the goodies were extracted I just could not see visual proof? More testing to come.

Hey, actually both right and wrong.... T1 has all the bits you need to make the Evolution fly. Take off the cap and unscrew the heat core. Put both away. Then screw the Evolution (or any other 510 thing) into the socket the heat core was threaded into. As with any major messing with this area, you might have to reset the switch. Easy, looks a bit strange, the PTFE heat shield fits into the core body about half way, to the center of the finger grip ring. Looks like the business end of a ray gun to me.

Yea, I am not worried about producing clouds with the evolution similar to my go to Vapolution, did not have that expectation. On the first bowl I could not see any vapor at all until last hit when I really held on the switch but I felt like I had inhaled a very good amount of vapor, so in your head you are thinking I just took a big hit and when you exhale you see no vapor it can be a little confusing until the meds kicked in. Proof is in the puddin. After two bowls, with the second producing a bit more visible vapor, I feel close to being as medicated as I would expect to be with same amount of material if I had used my Vapolution.

The more I think about it, if I can achieve this feeling with no visible vapor then it will be a stealthy portable device.

Instead of pulsing the switch hold it on the whole time. Give it a 10 second warm up and inhale. Do not stop inhaling for 15-20 seconds. Start off with a slow draw and slowly increase it a little towards the end. The switch should be in the on position for 30 seconds. If it is too warm to hold let it cool down before doing it again. I believe you will get more satisfying hits this way. If you see black specs in your ABV try not packing as much since that seems to be the cause when I get black specs.

I was basically doing that on the second bowl and would only pulse the switch once my mouthpiece got hot enough to the point it got uncomfortable. I am thinking it might lie in my drawing speed as to my vapor production but I know I am extracting cannabinoids based on how medicated I feel. My ABV comes out pretty even medium to dark brown, have not had any black specs in either bowl yet.

Thanks.

EDIT: Ok I think I figured it out. I reallllly love the early flavorful early hits off vaporizers so I was drawing like I normally would on my Vapolution or even Revolution, fairly quick draw. I just took my last two hits off the second bowl and took much much slower draws and got the visible vapor you would expect to see. Either way, both techniques got me to where I wanted to be and will probably stick to quicker draws just for the flavor and then finish the last few with a slower draw.

Does anyone know of a good high output mod that would work with this? Would would love to be able to pack just my mod and the Evolution for away trips.

This waiting is killing me!! Fed Ex where are you... I want to refrain from getting too medicated right now so I can experience the Evolution with a clean head... got an early start to 4/20 today, and taking a break while I stalk the delivery truck... :ninja:

Great Scott!
Sorry about that.... There is only a white version available due to the Virgin PTFE we use in the manufacturing of the Evolution Top cap.

However we are also looking into possibly having a black option in the future.

Tim

Should I be scared of my TV1 delrin parts? Everything new seems to be PTFE. Why is this?

I'm very interested in the Evolution but I'm reading more about it now.

Mine just arrived via USPS. I can't believe that I forgot my T1 at home :bang:.

Oh well, I'll be doing some serious testing in a few hours when I get home. I really wish I had JRR Tokin's job!
