vaporboxed...I prefer the extended sessions as well, when situations permit. I often find myself trying to sneak away real quick for a hit and a ten minute session just won't suffice. In those situations, the HI is great if it is kept on all the time...worked better this way than any other log vape I've had. But I definitely like the taste of the Solo better than the HI or PD.

I was wondering of someone with more understanding of power transformers etc could help me out with some general info so that I can get myself a new charger.
I have the ac adapter, which uses a detachable power cord so I just threw it away and grabbed one from my big-box-o-cables.
Since the regular charger has its outlet prongs built in, ive been using an adapter so that it will fit on an Australian outlet.
Basically, I want to just go out to an electronics shop and get another adapter so I can do away with that damn adapter...

I figure I need to match the output voltage (which I can't remember right now since I don't have the charger in front of me), but what about the amps?
I'm pretty sure regular charger is 1000 mah, does it matter is I get one that has more? Less?
If I go higher, can I blow out some of the circuitry or anything?
Or overcharge the battery or something?
If I go lower, could it undercharge the battery?
Lowering capacity or battery life or something?

I know with log vapes the amps don't tend to matter as long as the voltage is right, an the amps exceed a minimum level, but there's alot less electronics going on in a log vape...

EDIT:
To any Aussie solo owners, have you picked up a charger from dick smith, or JB Hifi or something?

Hey Frederick this is what I have done to all my chargers solo,MFLB inc and it works really well.Got fed up with loose adapters and the hassle.Just catch the prongs with your e pliers and turn slowly and just enough at your e own risk of course but hey.I havent had any fail yet and Ive even done my wifes Kindle.
the mflb pins wont fold into the charger anymore but hey Im not concerned. It works beautifully in a wall socket now.Best of luck

@frederick- I went to jaycar to inquire about chargers & a pass thru unit ages ago & the response I got was something about an odd voltage chosen to stop you from buying a generic charger vs buying the arizer issued.

when it happened I did post the specifics on this thread, but its so large now I wouldnt know where to find it.
But the conclusion I came to was, its better to purchase the 'official' units from aust vaporizers than to dick around with cheap chinese crap sold by people who dont know enough about the stuff they sell to advise you correctly. hope this you helps somewhat.

+1 i ve got a few chargers here with the same specs as the solo.they wont work!

Ahh, damn, I thought the odd voltage was the 9=8.5 volt thing for the passthrough ac adapter. Thanks for the reminder Dorkus.
I really like the look of that mod bwade runner, is there any polarity to the prongs that would force me to bend them a specific way?
I wouldn't think so, but it cant hurt to check ;)

EDIT: and how well do they hold themselves into the outlet now?

No there isn t.Just work out which way your e adapter will work best with youre power outlets/powerboard setup.Ideally the cable from the power supply should hang down from the bottom of the supply when its plugged in.Less strain on the cable that way.

bend them a specific way?
you should grip the pins firmly as close as you can to where they enter the power supply like below in the pic.If you grip any higher on the pin, the pin will bend along its entire length and it will be a struggle to plug it in to the power outlet.the plastic casing may distort a little as you twist.

Really solid Frederick, you can bend them a little less so they grip the outlet super tight but no need.just feels like a normal aussie plug.put it in and forget it.I ve done it to maybe a dozen supplies from the US.GRRRR i hate those loose adapters too:lol: say goodbye to that.Happy bludging

It is Frederick. The 12v charging adaptor is super easy to replace. 12v 1A does it fine for charging.

This right here is an issue with the company and not the product if it is true. This is the type of thing that makes me not want to keep checking to see if they actually changed anything yet. Its disrespectful and insulting and if it is true it is bordering on unethical IMO.
There's nothing insulting or unethical in it at all. Arizer haven't denied continual improvements to the design. All Arizer are saying is that the changes are not specifically reflected in the model number- and this may be true- the changes might just happen to roughly coincide with series number, but it might not actually be the case. For all we know they could've produced some M107's with flaky ceramic bowls. Sure it's highly unlikely, but can we say for certain?

And Arizer would get it in the neck even worse from the community here if they did say all M107's have x, y and z and this wasn't actually the case. So what are they meant to do? Tell the truth maybe? We don't actually know much about their manufacturing process beyond gossip and conjecture. I certainly don't feel well informed enough to claim that the "collective wisdom" of FC is right on this issue and Arizer are wrong/misleading. On the contrary.

The temps are not really an issue either, from an ethical standpoint. What they are saying is not that the temp range is from x-y, rather they are claiming that the range 1-9 should include the sweet spot. There are lots of vapes that have the same subjective approach to temperature setting and don't claim to be exactly the same between individual units. Arizers mistake was to release any specified temperature setting readings in the first place and thus set specific expectations.

Lots of companies will continually update their products or at times maybe use different components from a different source when the normal supply is unavailable etc. They don't have to tell the customer about this- they only do so if it's an improvement that can be marketed and capitalised upon (and maybe Arizer did miss a trick here). Most customer don't even care as long as the product works as intended- to me that, along with post sale customer support without financial exploitation, is the full extent of Arizers ethical obligation to me.

So I added a screen to the bottom of the herb chamber, add one in the top of the stem, and airflow seemed to be better.

Then i tried hooking it up to a bong, and almost had my longs implode from the amount of drag on it. I don't know if the GonG connection(on its way to me, but will take some time seeing it has to make it over to europe from Canada) will solve this? It is a big bong that I was using with it, so maybe the double perc creates the drag? Although when I used to use it on its own with combustion I never experienced this problem.

If not, are there any more tips on improving airflow/lessening drag?

I'm expecting my new glass piece next week(and the GonG soon after) and really want to make the best out of this...

tepictoton,
you should try slightly lifting the stem away from the bottom of the bowl as you hit it. That will improve airflow.

I need some help, anyone out there with the ceramic heater port on the solo, I need that thing measured precisely to know if there is any drastic variance in size from it and the SS heat port. Pls anyone out there with a micrometer let me know. I would greatly appreciate it and thank you!

Hey Ed ,if you have the original measurements of the 4 hole glass stem. That is exactly what you want.I find that the 4 hole stems are tighter in the ceramic heater than they are in SS heater. Its not the bowl thats different.the plastic holding ring that sits in the top that grips the stem slightly tighter in the ceramic heater. The four hole stem is pretty tight in the ceramic heater and firm but not as tight in the SS heater The measurement with a vernier of the outside of a 4 hole glass stem is 14.68mm.the inside of the bowl is 11.50 mm or.576 inch outside x .454 inch internal Hope that helps.

Works pretty well the metal takes awhile to heat up I have even been putting the empty stem in for a minute or so to heat up. After the ss is warm the hits are great. I also turned the screen around for a smaller bowl, the lip of wood works great for holding the screen.

I have it to the .001" gonna make a few that vary from the tightest to where it hits its sweet spot. Want it to fit just right so when it does you know it, you feel it, and it shows! Once that is done consistency will never vary, what it is will be what you can count on. As far as the SS goes, the wood may vary slightly from piece to piece but will not be noticeable, that is where all the fun comes in and a steady hand. Thank you for your help.

Thats what I thought also Hog, once the SS got warm it rips. That is it problem, once it gets warm, nobody wants to wait that long. The wall of the tubing is way to thick, but that will not be an issue soon.

I'm very impressed by the flavor there is little to no wood flavor quality stuff can't wait for thinner walls. the dog is Sara thanks. Im not sure how many ceramics are out there that aren't chipped already also, the ss is going to be rough as far as scraping the wall. All the new ones are ss and the percentage of ceramic left is getting smaller daily and most FCers had their ceramic replaced when they chipped

Well after over a month and some use, my stems now spin freely on my m107. Pushing the ring back in isn't helping anymore. So I guess it got "worked in".

Anybody elses solo Click/tick when heating occassionally? Sometimes it does, sometimes it doesn't, who knows.

I think most owners that got a ceramic unit ALSO have a SS unit, since they were giving them away for free while letting us keep our old ceramic units when the flacking issue first arose

But I agree, there can't be a really large market for stems specifically for ceramic coated Solos, and they'd have to be thought out extremely well and used with care to prevent them from speeding up the flacking issue. Personally I wouldn't bother Ed, and that's coming from someone who loves your stems and only uses a ceramic covered Solo.

Glad you like how it performs as is Hog. The woods affect on flavor should be very subtle, should enhance it somewhat. The tubes and stems I make for other vapes just accent the hit, slightly even cooling the vapor. Each has its own difference and feel, its like a signature. My work has a lot to do with feel, you may not see it or notice it by sight but you can feel the crispness of the draw through em and the feel on the lips. I prefer the denser woods when vaping. I think Vito has said it best when he describes each.

I appreciate your input fellas, thank you so much!

Hey i have a couple of questions about my Arizer Solo

I bought it early january i believe, my model number is a m103... seems like an old version...

Anyhow I vape around level 4 or 5. I have been vaping around 5 for quite some time now.

Here's where the questions come in...

After the first initial hit i take after putting my ground herb in, i do not taste the flavor of the bud any longer but instead a weird taste that i can't really describe... almost like burnt ceramic haha

My other question is vaping at a lower level 3 or 4 better for taste and more effective??

Last one, when taking a hit do i take a slow drag for a long time or deeper drag for a shorter time??

Thanks guys, i love my arizer solo so far... been getting really baked lately :)

Happy Easter/Medicating ;)

The first hit is always the best tasting...on any vape

Taste is better at lower temps

slower drag will create thicker vapor

are you doing anything to keep your herb from falling down into the heat chamber? When I load my stem, I cap it with a stainless steel screen (inside the bowl) so the herb stays in the glass, and doesn't fall into the heat chamber, which causes the flavor to taste like toasted herb as soon as it gets down in there. That would be my first guess in your situation.

So I haven't look at this thread in a long time, but I did do some searching about all the issues and such with the old models and just have a quick clarification question....

I have an old M102 model that I purchased back when the Solo first came out. About 6 months ago I was on a trip back home and a family friend with cancer wanted to try vaping so I loaned my Solo (she used for one stem, loved it and it made a big difference, so she bought a vape of her own right away). So it was just sitting since then and I finally got it back this week. Having quickly looked over the thread I was wondering if my unit would have some of these warranty issues....

My ceramic has only flaked a little bit (not really enough to be too concerned about honestly), but the bigger issue is the high pitched whining sound when heating up. I hadn't really diagnosed this issue before, but it is definitely there when heating up and is VERY annoying. Does this qualify for a warranty replacement?
