Cheap High Quality Bubbler

smokum

I am who I am and your approval isn't needed!
I havn't picked that one up yet and prob won't since I grabbed the hand bub mentioned earlier. At the same time, I don't vape at high temps and prefer to dab with them or combust kief hits.

Hey all! BigDaddyVape, thanks for the response. I was all set to get that same bubbler, but the site requires your billing address to be the same as your shipping—fixable by sending in a photo I.D. to them, which I don't really want to deal with (I go to college in a different state than my card is registered to).

I ended up getting this guy: http://www.grasscity.com/us_en/black-leaf-sunny-afternoon-inline-perc-scientific-glass-bubbler.html

which I think belongs in this thread! It's $88 but I was able to find a 20% off coupon with a quick google search—shipping was obscene, of course (E.U. glass), but it came out to be the same as the normal price w/ free shipping after the coupon. Neatly fits under the $100 mark.

Black Leaf isn't the best, but is at the upper end of china glass, from what I've heard. Seems like good glass for less than the price of most others—it's even inline like the headford bubbler, which I've heard is great for water diffused vaping.

Also got the 14mm whip adaptor off of ALT, and the tubing BigDaddyVape linked. From the earlier discussion, it seems like they'll fit together. It was this or get the MFLB water pipe adaptor, but one thing I don't like about the MFLB adaptor is that to use it the box must be at a certain angle, and stationary—and that angle won't be horizontal with the bubbler I ordered. I like the idea of the whip because I can keep the box completely horizontal, and even shake it around while heating (which I sometimes do to keep temps relatively low and even while building good vapor).

Haha sorry for the essay—really excited!! I've spent way too much money on vapor equipment recently, but if it lets me toke with no to minimal irritation so that I an be at 100% for my sports, that's all that matters. :D

Great news Longbones! That looks like a nice inline, for those who can't afford a Headford, hehehe. How was the feeling of vaporbonging with it?

I come from photography as a hobby, talk about a sinkhole for glass, :D.

I here you there. I started with a minimal budget just to get "started" in vaping. Had no clue what any of the jargon meant, then I joined FC, :).

For me its all worth it. A couple hundred bucks now can save you thousands later on meds, medical bills and your health.

I :love:vaping. Can't wait to try a bubbler.

Ah sorry—I haven't received it yet, just finally placed the order. :D I'm a little worried because it's not guaranteed to be well-made, but I think the gamble's worth it considering it's so cheap for an inline.

Was tempted by a few other things as well. Speaking of which, I tried to order the bubbler BigDaddyVape got from gogopies.com, and was blocked because of differing shipping/billing addresses. BUT, I found out this morning that they charged my debit card anyway! Bad business practice—they seem willing to make up for mistakes, though, so I'll keep you all posted on the resolution. Just be careful, all.

Well, that's disturbing to hear. I wrote the admin@pipesdaddy.com address. Whoever responded, is the one that apologized for the delay (he claimed they were out of stock, on Saturday, were getting more and would ship on Monday or Tuesday. he held true to that). He also refunded my shipping costs, of almost $10. So I only paid $39.95 total.

I would hate to see my recommendation, lead to someone else getting ripped off.

No worries! Got an e-mail back this afternoon, they said their system automatically charges when the transaction's done but that the refund will have been sent to my bank already. I'm just not as patient as I should be.

Now it's time to settle in for the wait...

Longbones,
Longbones, I'm the (partially shameful) owner of a Blackleaf Nautlius which I bought when they were like 55 bucks. I have to say that for cheap import glass, the workmanship is excellent. The inline is well cut, flame polished and set straight. All the welds are well done and there isn't one real imperfection on the piece. It actually has a goddamn closed end on its diffuser so it fires properly, unlike alot of cheap Chinese inlines I see in headshops, which boggles my mind. The bowl was also a great addition to the arsenal, although I thought it useless at the time; it ended up working great with a number of vaporizers like the Vriptech and VM2.

So for me at least, Blackleaf seems to be reasonable quality, a cut above other cheap imports.

Lordy, look at this kooky mini Nautilus with 3 arm in place of an in-line?? Only 70$

I've seen videos of the original nautilus and it DEFINITELY is a cut above your standard chinese inline.

The mini is just ABSURD though
A removeable arm inline downstem ? wat

I think it's more that tree style perc that bothers me. You could use silicone on the joint, like in the lab, which would seal it, and certainly take the water out straight after use. Although it still isn't really 'practical'; maybe it's their attempt at innovation?. But that tree perc seems really confused.

That criticism over, I've said it a few times recently, but I'll say it again; I'm really happy with my Black Leaf Saxo Bubbler. No real complaints about the quality there. I think that the top of their range stuff is actually quite passable.

I was recently tempted by their Luke Wilson copy. And it is a blatant copy. But 'last seasons' without the dewar joint. I think I might wait till next years lol.
octo-bong.jpg

But still not too bad for £110 at all (might be less for shipping outside EU without 20% VAT). To get a Luke Wilson Bubbler over here would probably be getting on for thrice that cost, worse if taxed.

So, is this blatant imitation, or progress for mankind?

I've got a bent neck Nautilus (which they call a layback, for whatever reason) from Black Leaf, too, and I've become quite fond of it. Got it for about $55 as well, works a charm, the only real flaw is that the two slits at the end of the diffuser are cut a little deeper than the rest, but that's no big hassle to work around. I just use it with a shorty LSV wand and my EV-1 and it milks beautifully.

I want to buy a better piece of glass, but the Nautilus isn't giving me any reasons to blow the dough. I'm lucky to live someplace with a vibrant local glass scene, and I feel bad not supporting it more, but being on a budget isn't the end of the world with some of the options out there.

I have the nautilus layback as well.
combined with a cheap ashcatcher ( I use it as a visual aid to monitor the amount of vapor i take in), I find it does the job very well. the nauti is my daily driver & have found it to be quite sturdy in regards to minor bumps etc.

I think it was $55-60 on special.

great value for $$$$ IMO

It's a pretty damn good piece for the price IMO.

I also got it for $60ish.

@frederick- dude, you have heaps of stuff. I am so jealous. If you & psyshaman had all of your stuff in the same place at the same time, I would swear I was visiting ALT.

Pity everyone is so far away. I am the only person I know who uses glass, and of course I am the only person I know who vapes.

So, much like my existance before I met my wife, I am forced to amuse myself. lol
(and my online peers of course)

The nauti seems to be quite a favorite for fc members, quite a few owners out there.

dorkus_molorkus,
On grasscity.com, all three nautilus pieces are listed as having 5 mm glass. Are they really that thick? The only other thing stopping me from buying is the 18 mm joint. Any place to get an 18-14 reducer besides ALT?

Hey all. Haha, wanted to post an update—I canceled my order for the Black Leaf inline just because I heard a lot of reports of orders to the U.S. taking the 3 weeks that is the outside edge of the international mail shipping period. I didn't want to wait that long, and I figured I might as well have a nice locally made glass piece for not much more—

http://www.highpriorityglass.com/brands-u-z/van-tran-small-travel-bubbler-14mm/

This guy! Someone else mentioned it in another thread, but it looks good. Will the 3 hole diffused downstem be enough for my needs? I generally have problems with irritation from vapor but found those greatly reduced recently by running my MFLB through a simple 12 in bong. Seems like this will have more diffusion—but how much diffusion is too much?

Sorry to throw you all for so many loops—it was so hard to make up my mind on glass!

I don't think any amount of diffusion is too much. But, you won't know unless you try the glass piece in person, and feel the drag, or if it suits you.

I shot for the highest mark (in my book - with limited knowledge) - and got a Mobius Matrix on Saturday. That thing has 100+ (?) holes. I also recently bought another high end perc with like 13 slits or so. And I tried a few china glass ones, and the cheap(er) Weed star ashcatcher I posted (on the previous page I think).

Why all this? Because vaporizing makes me cough and choke, and leaves me short of breathe. I tried longer airpath, cooler airpath (vapor tamer), and now more diffused water airpath.

The thing that seems to work good the best is good diffusion. I hope it's not a placebo effect, but I haven't choked/coughed much at all with a proper glass piece. I did have a cheaper china with a bunch of trees and slits, but it didn't seem to help much.

Of course this is all from my own experience. I can be super picky as well, so it took me some time, and trying different things to find something that helps me, and my coughing/choking fits.

On the good side, with proper glass/diffusion for the past week, my chest doesn't hurt anymore - and I feel like I can continue vaporizing comfortably!

@dorkus,
The other day I got most of my pieces together for a picture, it was a sight lol.
Aside from my möbius and Luke Wilson though, it's all actually relatively cheap stuff.
I don't think I paid over $100 for any of them.

I'm thinking of having a vape night at a friends place soon, he's told a few friends about all of my vapes/glassware, and they all want to try it lol.

EDIT:
Here's that pic:

Haha, thanks.
Not pictured still are my
  • black leaf beaker w/ 6-arm perc & dome splash guard
  • EHLE 250ml w/ g-spot 6 hole downstem (it's at a friends place - its my sacrificial combustion bong )
  • Agung cyclone (currently has a broken downstem)
  • 2 Old style 7th floor vapor tamers
  • a cheaper stemless piece
  • Black leaf barrel a/c
  • and some cheap non-gong pieces.

It sounds like more than I thought before I typed that up

Eventually I'm gonna clean them all up, and take a pic/vid with all of them.

I shot a video of every piece in that picture (except for the aquavape) that day, so if anyone would like to see how any of them hit, lemme know, and I can post something.

FYI, about our bubblers.....
We're working on a new bubbler that will be like this one pictured, except has a removable downstem and a small shower head. Hopefully done soon.

All our bubblers are optimized for really easy draw, since the vaporizer needs unrestricted airflow to work properly. They all try to be a bit spill resistant, have minimal internal volume, and don't need much water to work.

An improvement on this one that costs a bit less than this one is our new Mini Precision Hydrator, with a 14mm dewar seal and an attached mpc. You can try the drop test but I already did a few times :)

Here it is. Pls excuse the horribly fuzzy picture- there will be better detail on this site soon.

~Linus V.

Yeah they look exactly the same, and it sounds identical to your video.
