Nice piece SpaceKracker, The Purple Bishop is a gorgeous log vape. Hope you enjoy it and please post some pictures if you can.

Thanks a lot for the extra glass stem and extra screens and stuff mr. underdog! Shipping was great too, really fast! Maybe in the future I'll buy a twig, but for now what I got is going to make a nice present for a friend. :)

Lip465,
Which one did you get lip? I think the bishop is eventually gonna end being a gift to my mom (that I get to use when I'm at her house) and I'll get myself a twig. Unless my name evetually comes up on the list for the HI.

great to see some more pups off to happy homes, the purple bishop and beehive were some of my personal favorites as well, i very nearly chose the purple bishop, but decided on the tortuga instead. All of Dave's lovely pieces can make deciding so tough sometimes, but alas that is something we must all painstakingly plow through ;)

Oh no I just got a few silicone stems. I'm pairing them with my PD and giving it to my friend's dad haha.

@ djonkoman - glad the piece made it to you and that you're already giving the pup a walk. Keep us informed of how things work out and if you get a different power supply that actually runs the piece at full power. Oh yeah, and enjoy! :spliff:

@ Gonzo - glad to hear your sister and her friends are partying with the queen. I've got no problem with UD becoming the official vape of the Bahamas.

@ darkrom - I don't recall if the Beehive went to a FC member.. I think so but might be wrong. Also there's a package on it's way to your place, enjoy. :brow:

@ SpaceKracker - thanks for the purchase dude! It'll probably be Tuesday before the piece gets shipped out, I've got to swap out it's core for the most current revision 24/7 one and get it all dialed in for you just so. I'll be sure to include plenty of underbutter for your twice daily polishing.

@ Lip465 - I'm sure you'll come over to the UD pack eventually.. lol

Just finished up a custom piece and brought it in from the shop.. a nice chunk of Claro that was turned into the always popular Curves style UD. If the potential adopter accepts it I believe it'll be headed for the UK soon. Whatcha dudes think?

Not to sure about the white hue in the picture, but that sure is magnificent piece of wood Dave, awesome!

I wonder, do you at one point become experienced enough to tell before hand that a piece of wood has the potential to look like that after turning it, or is it still always a surprise to you too how it'll come out?

So the Bishop is gone to aye? I think that was my fav after the custom UD you made for Absymal from all the Dogs that are made out of different pieces of wood. Congrats SpaceKracker, you better share plenty of pictures with us so we still get to admire it from time to time

ps: that photo on top of this page would make an excellent avatar imo ;)

I've yested my UD for one day now(now warming up for day 2), my own adaptor doesn't make much of a difference. the outside did get a bit hotter, but that could just be time too. the abv keeps coming out a lightbrown/beige color with specks of green, about the same as my PD always gave me(wich I now repaired too, and in direct comparison they perform very similar with the UD getting slightly more out of it I think)
but I do like it like this, it still gets me superhigh and I like it a bit on the low temp side too, my PD always performed like that, and if I hadn't read about everyone here getting huge hits and darker brown ABV I would just have thought it was supposed to perform like this, it satisfies me either way, and I can just save the ABV seperatly and revape in my VG
but I do wonder how hot the dogs of other people are getting on the outside, since mine was already uncomfortable to hold yesterday evening, I often held it with one finger on the wood next to the heatport and the other finger on the leather while hitting, since it was more comfortable to hold that way

I notice I'm preferring the glass stem, it feels nicer between my lips and I like that the airflow of the glass stem is a bit more restricted, with the silicone stems the vapor has the tendency to hit the back of my troath and dry my troath out quickly
I also made the bowl of the glass stem a lot smaller so it holds just a small pinch, since it loads so easily and vapes so nice etc I have the tendency to just keep loading bowls
also tried it with hash, moved the screen in one of the silicone stems up a lot, gives nice thin hashsips, and taste the hash well too. haven't finished that stem tough, but I don't think I will get all out the hash but if it's done in the UD I can just throw it in the VG to finish, and in the mainwhile I get some tasty hashsips in between loading the glass stem

and I'm still really loving the looks of my dog, it also changes with how yopu look at it, and in the evening/night with low light it also looks different

Good god man, share the beauty and post some pictures already ;)

But that sounds just like mine Djonko. I'm hoping for improvement with the 13,8V adapter though. I was keeping my fingers crossed that it'd come in today but I haven't seen it yet so it might not make it in time. I'll keep you posted. Although, like you said you are more a low temp vaporist and you might not need more. Did you get a big non-switching power supply btw, or did you buy one of those smaller ones? And do you have any way of measuring what voltage it's at perhaps?

If I just leave mine on 12,2V it doesn't get really hot to the touch, just comfortably warm. But it's a whole different story when I stuff it under the blankets or pillows for an hour. It gets so hot sometimes that way that it's impossible to hold except at the bottom part, like the lower cm of the unit only. I'll probably kill it within a year if I keep using it this way. I even thought I smelled something very close to charred wood at times when I forgot it and left it in it's warm nest for too long (like half a day or so). The upper half of my UD has already changed color in just a short period of time and is much darker now than the bottom half because of how (badly) I treat it.

On the other hand I would say try heating it like that just one time at least, you'll be amazed by the clouds it will produce and how many hits you will get of the same amount of product :brow:

Great Scott!
OTA don't kill it :(

I hope you get that adapter soon. Seems safer than your pillow method.

I'll try that, and if your 13,8 volt adaptor works I'll just get one of those too, I ike the low temp I get now but I would like to try big hits too, and if that 13,8 volt adaptor works I can just have both by switching adaptor.
I think there is a slight difference between the stockadaptor and my own, with the stockadaptor mine is more comfortably warm, my own just slightly hotter where it becomes uncomfortable if you're holding it longer, altough that also depends on the moment(probably things like how warm my hand is etc so how hot it feels), but the ABV still comes out a beige-color
probably good for you it has a recessed heatport, I remember there once was someone in the PD-thread who burned a hole in a pillowcase or blanket when it accidently was touching the heatport
the adaptor I got is a smaller one I think, at least it is in comparison with the one I have for my PD, but I did ask for a non-switching one. it was 15 euros at boonstra electronics. this one is not regulated tough. and I have no meter or so to measure the output
the size is about 5x6x5 cm and goes directly into the outlet(that bigger one I use for the PD has a cord first, and the adaptor itself sits on the ground)

Great Scott!
I remember that too. People were flipping out thinking log vapes were dangerous if I remember correctly. What a surprise that stuff that is a few hundred degrees can burn fabric if you let it touch it...

just wondering.. has anyone in the US ever measured the actual output of their powersuplies? maybe it's actually higher as 12?

I've done it. ;)

With an UD load the standard power supplies I include in the north American market run between 12.6 and 13.25v typically. This can vary quite a bit (as has been discussed) based on your local line voltage.

I've had no way of testing the EuroPlugs that I have included with your other-side-of-the-pond guy's purchases so not sure what they put out under UD load.

 SpaceKracker When your get tired of sucking vapor out of your daily polished Purple Bishop , suggest you move on to the "real job" and stick your stem into the honey pot ... If it is too big for your likings you can hope that Dave revives the 1/4" core someday so he can make you a tinier version :p.
