Cheap High Quality Bubbler

placetime,

definitely do not get the first bubbler you linked. It has one of the least functional tree percs I've ever seen....they need to go WAY further down for it to work properly (like the last bubbler you linked)

Be sure to see what these sites are charging for shipping...often they reel you in with low list price and then try to gouge you on the shipping.

The last bub looks real great but it has the telltale super weak slits on the trees. Luckily the bottoms are open so the airflow shouldn't be too terrible.

Thanks for the input SD! I hadn't noticed that about the first one, but I sure do see it now. Maybe that's why that one is being offered for such a low sale price. :p

I haven't checked on shipping charges yet, but that's a good point. I'm also going to see if I can find anything that's locally-made, in case that might be my best option.

SD--for that last one (the one from bongoutlet.ca), when you say "telltale super weak slits", do you mean just that that's a sign that it's generally cheaply/quickly made, or is that a sign of something else (e.g., it'll break easily)? I figured that the diffusion for vaping would be functional enough on that one, even without any slits.

Sorry i should have clarified. I mean weak as in, how the slits were cut. They just barely slice them so the opening is very very tiny.

This is the easiest/simplest way to diffuse a downstem, so thats why you see that style in 99% of cheap pieces with tree percs.

Its a big problem in a larger tube as it restricts the airflow and creates tons of drag, but in this tiny bubbler it shouldn't be a big issue. Its also a bigger problem if you wanted to smoke through it because smoke particles can very easily 100% clog the slits (mainly if you're constantly doing snappers).

One other minor problem with them, is often 1 or 2 of the slits will be cut 99% of the way, but despite that, wasn't 100% so there ends up being just no opening there. I've seen this a good number of times, including personally on a tube I bought through craigslist.

Here's an example of trees with properly made slits

I love this thread. Especially all the links to the different places I've never heard about!

Something like the last one placetime posted is perfect for me, but 18mm, since all the stuff I bought is 18mm.

Time to search!

EDIT: Looks like the last one IS 18mm! My day has been made :)

I like those last two pieces you posted Placetime, I would have bought the 39$ bub if they would take paypal.

To bad that last one doesn't come in 14mm as well.

Will this be the first water filtration piece you own, and just out of curiosity, but why are you so set on those measurements?

Ahhh dam, I just saw the AquaVape only has a whip connection. No GonG..oh well. It's a cool idea still!

Looking at all this awesome glass stuff makes me want to take up glass blowing

This won't be my first water filtration piece, but it'll be the first new one purchased in a looong time. And, I've never used anything like all the fancy boro stuff that's out there now. Everything I've ever used has a little rubber grommet holding the stem. :myday:

Do you mean the 14.4/18.8 measurements? I'm interested in those just because they seem to be the "standard" sizes. I've found that CRZ and PD stems work really well and easily in a 14.4 gong, and an 18.8>14.4 adapter is fairly cheap and easy to obtain.

I'm still trying to figure out my preference for water filtration with an UD silicone stem. As has been mentioned in the UD thread, one option is to use a whip>14.4 adapter. This works, but the adaptor itself then becomes the greatest restriction on airflow. Another option (also mentioned in the UD thread) is to shave down a stem so that it fits better in a 14.4 gong. I haven't done that myself yet, but some people are happy with that solution. I think my preference is for a solution that allows for letting the stem stay/rest in the gong without having to hold it up. If I can "standardize" on just a 14.4 gong, then I can easily use the same water filtration for all pieces (I think :) ).

sessnet--you'll have to give us a good review if you get one of those 18.8 bubblers. I keep *almost* pulling the trigger on that one. :brow:

Man, I am so frikkin lost right now. Spend $650 on this - that looks fecking awesome: LINK or $50 for something that will just get the job done.

Or, save my money.

I just got a Saturn Vapor Tamer, came in last night. Cost a pretty penny! Then I have a few misc ashcatchers I bought, and waiting for. I figure if I connect all that stuff together - I'd have a hell of choice and find what works best for me.

Vaping is killing my lungs much more than combustion...and I think any price to pay to improve my health will be worth it. I mean, spend $$$$$$ and be happy and healthy, or don't spend $$$ and just try to be happy and healthy...

Or spend lots of $$$...be happy and healthy...then the world ends in December :/

Me too.... that last one looks handy & slick (especially for the price). Just wish the vid on the link showed the water action.

I think a stealthy 18 to 14mm adaptor wld work great for my 14mm stuff I already have.

Hmmmm.... since its in Canaduhhh and pretty damn cheap anyways, I think I'm just gonna go ahead and order one for chits n giggles :) After all, it looks uber portable and small for a bub !

EDIT: forgot to say..... THANKS for the find !

EDIT#2: btw... PlanetVape (also in Canada & a great vendor) sells all kinds of inexpensive glass adapters now (that I just got & shld work great with this).

EDIT#3: geez, I'm all over the place this morn, hehe.... but shld mention that that bub vendor also does sell cheap prices glass adapters as well which I just noticed, so you can 'all in one place' order to your needs ;)

If your asking me sessnet..... I just ordered the finger perc from Bongoutlet.ca

EDIT: Hmmm, I quite impressed with the order process and continuous updates via email I'm getting from this place. Very quick in receiving each, and my order is already on route.... I like THAT !! (as well as the free shipping in Canaduhh over $50, and their points system which gave me an instant $5 off on my first purchase and further points for the actual order).

I Vapes Hard
@placetime - any of those three would get the deed done. My only expierence with cheap glass was a 6 arm diffused downstem and it hit nice, but was extremely fragile and did break with a very light blow.

The first pic seems like a decent piece. The tree percs seem a bit high and i would imagine a water level above the slits would be close to the opening of the mouthpiece and one could get a lil drink.

The second is nice also, the whip attachment saves the need for another piece if its going to be used for vaping only. This reminds me some retailers (not sure if online sellers do this) give a discount without the bowl if you wont use it for combustion. I saved some on a recent purchase with this. The slits on the second piece are minimal and it doesnt seem the bottom is open so it could have some drag.

The third is quite interesting. I havent really seen a lil handheld bubbler with ground glass joints. The mouthpiece has some style to it, unlike some other cheap pieces. Looking at the pics on the site of the last one, theres a pic of the perc upclose. It seems some of the perc stems are not straight. Theres what seems to be a glass buildup at the top of the perc stems, which shows the method in which they were attached. It seems tree percs without this are fragile as it is, im not sure if this adds to their fragility.

On all 3, i noticed a glass buildup at the attachment points i havent seen on other pieces. On the first two, its right below the ground glass joint, where the top of the perc attaches to the inside of the dome. on high end pieces, they seem seemless, the blower must create these from one piece of glass, therefore no seems. This seems like quite the task with how elaborate percs are inside of other glass. Thats probably why they are expensive. On these pieces, It seems the percs are made seperately and attached with a glass connection. This could add one more fragile point to whats already fragile (glass)

i handle my glass pieces like babies. Always carried with two hands. Always carefully sat down. I will exclude my glass pieces from the session if any clumsy smokers are present. Extra special care during filling, emptying and cleaning cause thats when it happens a lot. If they are not being used, they are in a proper case. I recommend dime bags, as they got plenty of padding, lots of pockets for extras and i love the hemp style. They are soft cases, there are some hard ones out there for the ultimate protection.

I think any of them pieces will do you right and surely get the job done. Just use the same cautions you should do with any glass piece, handle it with care and it will do you fine and certainly last.

Im by no means a glass expert, just stating my observations, opinion and expierences. Hopefully can help.

I thought the SSFG tubes were more expensive than the RX ones but apparently I was wrong. Those are a good option as well and practically (or even completely?) similar to the RX. Can't really tell what sort of diffusion they have from those pictures though, the punched holes on the RX looked really nice and similar to my Ehle.

Yeah, you guys have some amazing bubs over there Bleezy, but they can be crazy expensive. Good luck saving up ;)

I was wondering the same thing. Had to hit myself over the head, when I found it right there in the description.

A bargain of a water pipe. Choose either the travel beaker, around 9" tall, or the straight travel tube, around 12". Either comes with a clear slitted diffuser, 18>14, and a 14 clear slide, and a keck clip.

BigDaddyVapor,
The last two look good and small. I have the middle one. However, mine is vapor brothers and has held up well besides me breaking the mouth piece when I was tripping.

And here's another super cheap one. Looks like it's already got a whip adapter too:
http://www.pipesdaddy.com/product-p/vp-0022.htm

And I'm really curious what y'all think of this one:
http://www.bongoutlet.ca/fingers-perculator-glass-hand-water-pipe-p-763.html

Thanks for both of those links. I'm having a hard time deciding which I'm going to get. I'm trying to unload my glass bong aka Glug (for the sound it makes). Its an awesome ice bong, for combustion... but I don't combust at all, anymore.

I was originally looking for a bubbler, but couldn't find any in my price range (dirt poor), set-up like I like. Both of these fit the bill. Especially that first one, since it has the whip adapter already, I can use with my MFLB. I sure would like a closer look at that diffuser. The whole set-up looks a LOT like the Vapor Brothers one, but I can't get a good enough look at it the downstem. I also have the same concerns, as already voiced, over the slits on both. I was looking at another bubbler tonight, with the same style tree and it looked just like the 2nd one, from distance... however BUTT-UGLY up close. This one at least looks nice.

EDIT: After checking both these out further, I've decided to go with the 1st one. They've been in business a while, couldn't find any negative word on them, doing a web scrub. Its hand-blown pyrex... $39.99 for taking a chance on getting a gem. I'll take that gamble. Plus, I just really like that setup. If that perc is cut set-up right, and its got water/air integrity, money well spent. I'll post better pics when I get it.

I hope you enjoy it, Big Daddy. It's hard to go wrong for that price and that piece seems very functional indeed. Looks like a really good bargain, so let us know how it hits when it arrives.

Cheers!

I'll be sure to.

I'll get pics up and my thoughts on the craftsmanship, the day I receive it. Plus a full review, though coming from a n00b, after its first use.

I almost forgot about this one.

No, I wasn't referring to the 2 standard GonG sizes but the maximum height you mentioned, & no worries, it hasn't been that long that I was introduced to this kinda stuff myself

I am one of those who 'shaves' his UD stems to fit a 14,4mm GonG connection. It's a bit crude but it works, well if you shave just right ;)

I don't have a specific height in mind, just something smallish that could very easily be stored away in a box or cabinet. I've used a friend's small bubbler that's about 4" or so tall, and it doesn't seem too small. :)

Wow... very pleased with that hand vape bub I bought with the recommendations !! Sure, its a cheapy... but it certainly is a well functioning piece that gets the job done nicely and sure suits my needs.

The free glass dry pipe was sure a nice surprise gift. I'm very happy with my purchase as much as with the deal and dealings with the vendor.

With the thumbs up from bongoutlet.ca I checked out some of their other glass.

For even cheaper than that bub I found a 12in beaker with a diffused downstem & tree perc ($55)
The trees dont look too thinly cut so not bad at all (ofc the one you receive always varies)
