Ive put some money down on a new Mobius Matrix bubbler. There is a great local place that carries nice stuff like Toro, lots of different Wilsons, etc.

Dont laugh too much at my post, Im new to real glass ;)

I got some really nice 6-arm Luke Wilson downstems at this place before. They really cut the drag on my current 12-inch SYN platinum label and RooR bubbler. I really love them.

Since the RooR is actually just an old ash catcher with a Sherlock piece, its time to upgrade :D

Granted, with the L. Wilson downstem (not pictured above) this little bubbler is pretty amazing and clean. Maybe Ill get pics up (most likely when I put it up for sale).

Thus
The Mobius Matrix is #1 on my list. I like other stuff but Im pretty set on the Mobius (other suggestions always welcome) but tstat pretty much covered everything in his thread. You all have left many great suggestions in the Log Vape Glass thread and Custom Setup threads. I just cant find (or search and read well enough) the Mobius-specific info I want but see lots of Mobius in your signatures. I like the tube version (and the stemless version posted by AoC) but just dont need that much. They had the Reti Perc available but are waiting on a shipment of the Matrix units later this week or next. They should have both the smaller Ion bubbler
alt83111192.jpg

and larger Clear bubbler available (at least they do with the Reti Perc).
alt83111219.jpg

(and stemless and tube for that matter, but not necessary ATM)

So the question is
Which one should I get??? The Clear or the Ion (are they both available with the Matrix?)
The Clear bubbler has much more volume than the smaller Ion. I liked the larger mouthpiece on the Clear, but then I was trolling the Cloud site (as I do a lot, just waiting for mass productionha) when I saw this here

...first beta Cloud. We were using it with a Mobius Matrix Ion bubbler. As has been said, the Matrix design provides a lot of diffusion, even too much for some people's tastes, especially with vapor. I understand the sentiment and agree that it's sort of overkill...

So if the Ion is overkill, would the larger Clear be beyond death? I use mainly logs (CRZs, hopefully UD and HI soon) and an LSV with my glassware. I read the specs and figured out the exact volumes of each piece, but only personal experience is going to help me here. Anyone with advice, suggestions, put-me-in-my-place kind of knowledge, etc. would be much appreciated!

Thanks all!

Edit: for typos

I am at the same place as you. I nearly purchased the Reti Perc this week but really like the look of the Matrix. Hopefully someone who has tried both will chime in.

Nice Gonzo. I can't wait for Dave to get back this week. Hopefully I'll have my custom twig by the end of the month :D
Then...new Claro twig with my new Mobius Martix = :o or :ko:, either is fine with me

My buddy has a reti, its badass, super smooth hits, might be to much diffusion for vapor though. He went with the reti after reading alot of different reviews on the matrix, some love it, some hate it saying it doesnt diffuse right. Didnt see any bad reviews about the reti. Also i think mobius came out with a stero matrix perc which looked sick, and he might have some other things in the works.

I was close to buying that REti clear bub on aqua lab but I'm really a tube kind of guy and reaaaaallly wanted a stemless so I grabbed the mbius stemless stereo matrix that came up on aqua lab Friday. It should ship out tomorrow so hopefully by wednesday night I'll have some reviews for you guys on the stereo matrix perc.
My oil dome, underdog and eq will get a lot of loving that night

I didn't even look when I had them in my hand...
Is the reti/matrix the same size in both the Ion and Cloud? And the same size as the stemless and tube versions? Or is the matrix actually smaller on the smaller units?

Good looking out. Glad mine is through a great LHS. They called yesterday and all the new matrix pieces should be in by next Friday. Nice.

What are the advantages to the stemless design compared to the Ion or Cloud? And more in term of functionality as compared to looks and size...

Also I'm not sure if I'm a fan of the "new" mouthpiece on the stemless bubbler:
http://www.aqualabtechnologies.com/mobius-65-mm-stemless-bubbler-w-stereo-matrix-1.html

Edit: upon closer inspection, I think they have REVERSED the joints! Very interesting...why? Purpose?
"Slide Joint: 18 mm Male
Slide: 18 mm Female Clear Push Bowl Slide Included"

Compared to your standard 18 mm Female slide joint and 18 mm Male Slide

Looks like one of my oil domes ;)

Yea I guess that one was meant to be used as an oil rig so they put the male joint on there.

a lot of tubes and bubblers made by sovereignty and other glassblowers that are labeled as "vapor tubes" or oil rigs will have a male joint rather than a female joint.

The stemless "tubes" usually come with a female joint as they are usually bigger and resemble bongs more than bubblers.

I personally just like the stemless look more than the dewar bubbler look, but its personal preference. I'm a tube guy.

I own a Mobius Nano w/ Matrix and an Iron w/ Reti.

Both are good for vapor but I find that the Matrix is smoother and has less taste, while the Reti is a little less smooth(still smooth as heck tho!) and has more flavor)

Another topic, rather than vapor, lets talk dabs. When it comes to both, I like the matrix more for oil dabs as the perc has a "purring diffusion" that lets the dab flow a little easier. The reti im not do big on doing dabs with as its a little gluggy for errl.

Overview:
Reti is for Flowers/vapor
Matrix is for errrl/maximum diffusion

All just my opinion mind you. Both pieces are truly incredible on their own and I don't think you'd be disappointed with either!

Thanks skoll! Great breakdown.

What's the difference in size/volume with the Matrix Nano and Reti Ion?

nano is 13" total, not sure of diameter.. Ion is 9" tall - to top of mouth piece. Ion is just slightly/barely thinner than the nano in diameter.

SkollIstKrieg,

can i stick my male joint in there?
thanks alot for this thread, i know i want a mobius but with all the different type is soo hard to decide :/
thanks for the awesome break down skoll!!! still so hard deciding. haha

niiiiice. first time seeing one of those in action. Stupid question, but what purpose does the bottom perc serve, it didnt seem like smoke was going threw it?

From what I read about the perc on glass district, in the stereo matrix you get the full top perc firing while the bottom perc serves to reduce drag especially while clearing it. Not sure if this is true but it hits like a champ, and is very smooth while still being pretty tasty in my opinion. Also I personally love the look of the piece.

The bottom percs seem to have a little more action when I'm clearing it with a vaporizer like the UD or the EQ when I take out the whip/stem.

added: I first thought that the "Stereo matrix" was like "two matrix percs" but I think I now understand that while it is similar to two matrix percs, it is its own style of perc, as each matrix is much smaller than a single matrix perc in maybe the bubblers or strato/nano ect.

I believe he designed it to be a more dragless matrix perc possibly?

:o Thank you kindly. My first time seeing the stereo in action too. Hope mine arrives soon!

I'm gonna alter this thread (soon) to be the Mobius Thread. I think he deserves his own place in the vapor world. Pics, bids, etc. get lost/missed in the Custom Setup thread very easily.

Edit: time to change that signature Marcellus :D

do you find that the stemless mobius is "too much" diffusion for vapor? I love my SYN showerhead, which diffuses quite a lot. I am SERIOUSLY thinking about buying the LW 'GRIDDED-Inline' to 'Mini-10 Arm' 15" Tube. But with all this talk about "too much diffusion is bad for vapor bongs", I am afraid to spend so much on the LW! Should I revert down to the BW 11" Inline?(no grids...no top-perc/tree)... :uhoh:

I honestly don't find the stereo matrix to be overkill...some people who are possibly a bit more sensitive to changes of taste may find it to be a bit less taste?? I personally think it hits amazingly, smooth, dragless, tastes great!

I can't really say about inline to 10 arm though...that is also a lot of diffusion but it works a lot differently than my stereo matrix perc.

I Vapes Hard
^^^^i never have a loss of taste with my mobius reti perc. I had my caretaker come by with a taste test of new strains and we alternated between my inline bubbler, the mouth piece and the reti and we both agred the reti had the best taste and most cooling effect. As for the stereo matrix, ive never vaped from but should have minimal loss of taste, and its the damn coolest to look at.

I actually love my Stereo Matrix for vaporizing, I have the Stemless 60t with a little work on base and mouthpiece. With a height slightly shorter than my Nano zero drag; I find myself reaching for my Stereo more often than my nano.

I also have the Ion Matrix and just sold my Clear Reti bubbler. I personally love the super smooth feeling of the Matrix style perk, while the Reti has too much chug for my taste. The Reti felt like it may have had a little less drag, but for vaporizing I actually like a little more drag then the reti provided. In terms of taste, I am not sensitive enough to really notice a huge difference. I do notice I cough a lot less with the pieces that have higher diffusion.

I haven't ran oil thru any of my fleet of Mobius', but I have a dedicated Olympic bent neck 11"tall up gridded stemline(40+hole) to gridded up facing shower head(100+holes), w/18mm DI joint/dome...
I know the oil purists will blast me for so much diffusion; but I don't have to cough after all but the largest of large dabs.

Since I haven't combusted in a couple of years, the Ti nail can be a little harsh compared to straight vapor from my VHW3.0; I feel like added diffusion allows me to taste more because I am able to relax and focus on taste, as opposed to the burning, coughing fit that ensues when I use some of these ultra mini oil rigs with no diffusion.

Just my experience/opinion, not gospel by any means...

I'm with you Cannahound...

I have a sheldon black beaker bottom with diffused downstem I used for my oil for a while and I really don't notice that big of a difference in taste...if anything the extra diffusion and function of the stemless design get a smoother, fuller smoke that still tastes great and goes down super easy like you said!

Had a girl over for her first time dabbing last night and she didn't cough once! (shes a combuster though...prolly not for long as I showed her the cloud :p )

@cannahound by the way : how much water do you use in the stereo? I generally thought from watching a bunch of videos that you put it right over the top matrix so its kinda even with the reinforcement on the stemless section. Some people on another site i shared it on were suggesting a bit less water, maybe only enough to cover half the top matrix.

just wanted to get your insight on the water levels!
