If we don't keep this under control from the start (and I think that we are already too-little, too-late on that front here)...then a LOT more people in the USA are going to die than the normal yearly flu deaths.

Most of us (50-% - 70% of our US population, from what I've read) will probably have had Covid19 a year from now.
This is from NPR, Dr. Fauci:
"Initial data show that the coronavirus is deadlier. In the U.S., seasonal flu kills 1 in a thousand people (0.1%) who get sick from it — the death toll last season was more than 34,000. Worldwide, an estimated 300,000 to 650,000 people die from flu each year.

By contrast, COVID-19 is currently estimated to kill at least 10 people per thousand infected (1%). "It's about 10 times more lethal than the seasonal flu," said Dr. Anthony Fauci, director of the National Institutes of Allergy and Infectious Disease, in congressional testimony on March 11."

Dr. Fauci has not been in attendance at last 2 Kleptomercials.
Maybe he's refusing to stand shoulder to shoulder with a stage full of science deniers who preach social distancing but obviously don't give a shit about practicing it??? Are they trying to appear invincible?
I wish they would stop the kleptomercials.

@Polarbearboy I wish they'd do that in NY! They've made liquor stores 'essential' businesses.

A few of you may have followed my mad dash a couple of days ago to a big adult dispensary in Massachusetts out of fear that we might be forced to stay home or the dispensary may be forced to close or interstate travel may be banned, etc. Well it turns out my fear factor was right on the money. Yesterday Massachusetts closed all but essential retail stores, including all adult cannabis sales. Only thing allowed is medical, and since I live in another state I would not qualify. Glad I got up at 5am three days ago. Glad I got a ton of fun products!

so the only studies on THC for them to pull from are NIDA harm research studies performed over the years ... THC is an illegal compound , expect Skewed research biased toward harm fear scenarios.

Anti Viral Cannabinoids https://duckduckgo.com/?t=ffcm&q=Anti+Viral+Cannabinoids&atb=v165-1&ia=web

keep in mind when you read the research that THC is foremost Bad in peoples mind before the research even started so most of it does not even go there and States CBD is safe instead ETC.....

CBD has shown to anti viral in a petri dish, however Blood plasma in a living person changes that protection somewhat ...

the metabolism of the extracellular cannabinoids ( phytocannabinoids) can change the adhesion of the cells so in that way we do not know if this allows viral load more access or if it helps the cells fend themselves better .. thanks to the massive avoid euphoria hysteria more THC research is needed, Real unbiased research ETC......

I can [personally say I have not been sick in a few years and if I've felt any typoe of issues like a cold ETC presenting, I've vaped the Hell out of some weed... instant feel good moments and have actually felt the issue leaving my body ... this could have been 100% placebo because I wanted it to work but effects are real and felt ...

@C No Ego - I think steering clear of vaporizing if there is a chance you have the virus would be a good idea.
yeah , I can only speak for myself and my experiences ... the molecular expression of metabolizing those plant metabolites could clear it from your cells too ... maybe the pro homeostasis pathways are responsible ???

Assume they're not. I know mine don't and I'm at home for that reason.

I work in a law firm. Deemed essential. So I’m here. But I don’t leave my office. Every time I do I wash my hands. If I have to grab a file. I grab it. And then go into my office. And then I wash my hands. I know they are stil going out shopping. I’m the asshole who orders everything online for curbside pickup and then sanitize in garage. I forgot to mention I have scars on my lungs.

I am fortunate enough to make the call myself with limited consequences.
I feel for those who have to sweat this by having to make tough choices.
What is astonishing is the serious lack of preparedness and guidance.

No one knows if their government has their back or not based on decisions we must make now.
Not in the USA anyway, and I am sure this is true in the EU and elsewhere too.

The USA will say "Fuck It!" in 2 weeks and we can prepare for the world's next culling of the weak and infirmed.
This infliction also leaves scars which is a long term liability for survivors, health-wise and economic.

Covid-19 has every potential to become the next annual flu if it doesn't die out in herd immunity.
We are fearful of this unknown - are you the 1 in 100 who will perish when the world is infected?
And will research find and provide a solution before saturation of this pale blue dot.

Let's not forget about virus' at large also have greater ability to mutate.

Happy New Year!

Up till now I have never stopped using cannabis even when I've had a sore throat BUT....

This virus is different from other viruses because of how it attacks the lungs....trouble breathing is one of the scariest aspects of the virus which is why ventilator shortage is such a huge deal.

I've been told cannabis vapor is an expectorant.......
An expectorant is something that can increase the mucous in the lungs as well as loosen mucus in the lungs so you can cough it up. Loosening the mucous is done by increasing the water content of the mucus, thinning it out, and making your cough more productive. Since Corona can cause pneumonia (lung inflammation caused by bacterial or viral infection, in which the air sacs fill with pus and may become solid). The last thing anyone with Corona needs is "increasing the volume of mucous and/or water content of the mucus in your lungs" since you're already at risk without adding more for the lungs to deal with.

If I feel like I've got the Corona virus this will signal the start of a T-break. Will be the first T-break in decades.

As a side note, that might explain why I produce shit load more phlegm if there is water in my glass. I was already starting to wonder if my lungs are reacting to the expectorant AND the moist hit.

Now I've ditched water, my coughing and healing time (phlegm production the next morning for instance) have decreased.

But really, stop vaping now you twat @emmdeemo

Here's how I see it, based on my reading of Doug Rushkoff's essay, "Cannabis: Stealth Goddess":

Growing my own put me into a totally different relationship with Cannabis, because what I was harvesting was nothing like most of the abused buds I used to buy illegally. I realized that any and all use of C. is medicinal: it's good for whatever ails me. However, I need to stay in a mindful relationship to her and always treat her with respect. She in turn alleviates mentally, physically and spiritually. Living in a daily relationship to Cannabis--although I don't vape from morn till night, my ECS is thoroughly saturated--has made my life so much more peaceful, my patience far greater, and my insights deeper. Cannabis keeps me conscious, and helps me to reach the unconscious gently.

Cannabis makes Being healthier.

I hit up maine. They even gave me 450mg in freebie edibles! 2.5oz for $650... compared to MA REC $420 per oz.
Going to make some edibles!

I live within a few miles of Maine. I actually can see Maine as I type! The nearest medical Mainer's stuff isn't that good. And, though I haven't tried recently, I've stopped at several places and was told they couldn't do adult sales. I've also heard of the recent serious prosecution of a medical dispensary that sold like a pound or two to someone from Mass. who didn't have a Maine med ID. So good for you. Maybe I should try again...in this exciting new time of plague.

Thanks for sharing.

We trust engineers to build roads and nuclear power plants. We trust medical doctors and other PhDs with dealing in our health (Glantz wasn't the only source for the article, there was a doctor from NIDA). The article you shared mentions nothing beyond PG and uncertainty around it in terms of ingredients. I'm not sure what the regulations are for ecig juice in your part of the world, but in the US it is unregulated industry in which there are dozens or hundreds of other potential additives for flavor, bigger clouds. There was not one mention of nicotine which is deadly in and of itself. What about VG etc.? People literally make these flavors in home kitchen/basement/garage/shed labs and sell it to the public beyond what is coming from Big Tobacco.

Our healthcare system is about to get overrun in the US as we don't have enough hospital beds and ventilators to take care of those who may need them in the coming days/weeks depending on the location. For the record, on March 12th, my better half contacted a DO concerning COVID-19 in regard to working in the public and potential exposure. The DO said this whole thing was just hysteria. Yesterday in the US we reached over 44,000 reported cases and 544 deaths. Stay tuned for today's numbers from the CDC.

Common sense tells me the nicest thing we can be putting in our lungs during these times is A I R. I'm not a MD/DO or PhD or Engineer for that matter. Consult your doctor if you have concerns.

Thanks, @Siebter. That is helpful to know.

It might be helpful to know about the physician (Dr Konstantinos Farsalinos) who wrote the article that @Siebter linked. Here is a brief summary:

Konstantinos Farsalinos, MD, MPH is a cardiologist and research fellow at the Onassis Cardiac Surgery Center in Athens-Greece, at the Department of Pharmacy, University of Patras-Greece and at the National School of Public Health-Greece. He is specialized in echocardiography and in smoking and tobacco harm reduction research. . . . He has been conducting laboratory, clinical and epidemiological research on smoking, tobacco harm reduction and e-cigarettes as principal investigator since 2011

Link on Dr Konstantinos Farsalinos:

https://www.e-cigarette-summit.com/speaker/dr-konstantinos-farsalinos-m-d/

And here is a link to a fuller picture of what Dr Glantz is saying about the issue. Note that Glantz is actively responding to questions in the comments section:

https://tobacco.ucsf.edu/reduce-you...used-corona-virus-quitting-smoking-and-vaping

Unfortunately, neither Farsalinos nor Glantz address the affects of dry herb vaporizing.

Yes, an expectorant and bronchodilator ... so it cleans out the gunk while increasing bronchodilation @ the same time ... I'm sure most people if they have a sore throat or start to feel a sore throat will stop vaping ... I've actually done the opposite and vaped like Hell LOL and next day throat was better ( a few times over the years I've done this ) ...
As I mentioned too, we are not exactly sure if metabolism of the cannabis phytochemicals effecting adhesion of cells ( L6 gene/ and others- https://duckduckgo.com/?t=ffcm&q=L6+gene&atb=v165-1&ia=web ) is a good or bad thing ... the anti viral cannabinoids are somewhat known through the prohibition obscurity but not so much and people are moslty consuming THC and CBD so if CBC or THCV is better for viral maintanence we just do not know for sure ( more thanks to prohibition !!!) .. Gotta love the prohibition masters sucking the realness from the world with their lies

This isn’t about vaping, although it may help ease the minds for those of us who continue to do it regardless...

https://www.researchgate.net/public...th_two_targets_in_the_viral_replication_cycle

Leek (Allium porrum) contains a mannose-binding lectin (MBL) which helps destroy this rampant Wuhan virus by breaking apart it’s encapsulating glycoproteins preventing cell entry via ACE2.
Potato and leek soup is tasty! Don’t wait for clinical trials with extracts or a synthetic imitation for what the body can access today. Boost your immunity now.

https://www.permaculturecourseonlin...oup-of-edible-plants-are-beating-coronavirus/

some of the peptides in hemp seeds look highly promising too, and they’re super tasty with yoghurt
