Cannabis sales explode as Californians become homebound

Big story in Politico: https://www.politico.com/states/cal...lode-as-californians-become-homebound-1268235

I'm up in northern northern New England in a de-criminalized but no retail state. The nearest adult dispensary is almost three hours from here. I'm wondering if I should drive to Mass--TOMORROW--at 6:00AM to get there for the 9-10am Over Sixty Hour. They certainly will never deliver to here and who knows how much longer they'll even be open, especially to out-of-staters, and who knows how much longer until we're under order to Stay Home. Is pot acquisition a "necessity"?

What was it the Fabulous Furry Freak Brothers used to say? Dope will get you through times of no toilet paper but toilet paper won't get you through times of no dope. Or something like that...

in the Netherlands they don't consider it medical, doctors only prescribe chemical pharmaceutical shit.
People just self medicate. Doctors don't give out opiods or sleeping pills either here.

Doctors here have their heads so far up the pharmaceutical asses they don't realize weed is like a anti depressive, sleeping aid, anxiety cure, painkiller, anti stress, all in one. they want you to stay sick so you keep coming back. they even intentionally misdiagnose people making them even more sick.

You have to realize that the weed we get here in holland is grown illegal by someone and then sold to the backdoor of the coffeeshop, where i can buy it legal, it is usually not tested for contamiination or anything like that, you dont know how much thc is in it, how many terpenes etc. No nice packege with label, no medical information or anything. I think there is some medical weed out there in pharmacies but there is almost no doctors that give you a note to get it.

So we are way way way way behind on usa, canada and a lot of other countries.
Plus the doctors don't learn about it in their education. they just learn if you use cannabis you are anm addict.

All you state about coffee shops is perfectly true and most doctors have the same approach worldwide but...
You have the most prominent medical cannabis producer in your country, Bedrocan, have a Cannabis bureau online where brokers from other countries and even patients abroad can ask for it, so there’s plenty a way for sure to get medical cannabis too in the Nederlands. At least if you have a medical condition. You may be subject to pay for it, it may be a long way to get prescribed but I can’t believe there’s not medical cannabis in your country. It’s the leading country for that matter, and provides it to all EU.

CHICAGO — Illinois marijuana businesses are exempt from Gov. JB Pritzker's "stay at home" executive order to stem the spread of the new coronavirus. The order limits non-essential activities, banning public gatherings of more than 10 people and mandating social distancing.

There was an item on the news on the local CBS tv station in southern Oregon mentioning that canna deliveries had been declared essential services and even mentioning the name of a shop that was all geared up to deliver in Medford. Wow - from pariah to essential! You've come a long way, Mary Jane.

One problem with delivery - they have to take cash because our federal government still has its head up its rear... Would be nice if people could use credit cards and avoid contact.

Maine is like this too now, though since recreational is also legal, it’s not as significant. But they did away with the list of “qualifying conditions “ so now any nurse practitioner can issue a card if they want to, for any reason. You can do a phone or video conference and get a card for 50-60 bucks. Combine that with extremely high quality and cheap products (I get great flower for 50 a quarter) delivered to your door, and you have to be nuts not to get a card here. It is truly the golden age of cannibis in this state. We’ve come a long way from crappy commercial weed in the 70s (that you could get arrested for!).
Hoping it stays good when "legal" rec retail rolls out this summer!

Is Marijuana an ‘Essential’ Like Milk or Bread? Some States Say Yes

From NY Times: https://www.nytimes.com/2020/03/24/us/coronavirus-weed-marijuana.html?action=click&module=Top Stories&pgtype=Homepage

And some states say NO!

Glad I got up at 5AM and drove down to Mass on Saturday to one of the big adult dispensaries and bought a selection of fun products. Yesterday the Mass Governor closed down all non-essential retail, including adult cannabis(but not medical). Since I live out of state, I'm not eligible for medical.

I go where the thrills are
It's essential here in the State of Washington. The two stores I frequent have on-line ordering for faster entry to pay & go, and one has curbside pickup.
Designated essential here in Maine. Delivery services are doing a very brisk business. We also have reciprocity with all other medical states and you can purchase from any storefront or delivery service with your out of state medical card.

Not that I’m encouraging anyone to visit, mind you.

  • Requirements for public health messaging
  • Licensing the whole of the supply chain
  • Restricting marketing and advertising.

As of today I could legally import a vaporizer that is a medical device approved by an overseas regulator.

Nearly half-mile-long cross-border drug tunnel found near San Diego

Authorities seized more than 2 tons of a variety of drugs, a departure from earlier discoveries that consisted largely of marijuana. The discovery of the tunnel March 19 netted about 1,300 pounds (590 kilograms) of cocaine, 86 pounds (39 kilograms) of methamphetamine, 17 pounds (7.7 kilograms) of heroin, 3,000 pounds (1,360 kilograms) of marijuana and more than 2 pounds (0.9 kilogram) of fentanyl.

The tunnel was built near a vaunted double-layered border wall constructed under President Trump’s watch, illustrating the limitations of such barriers against sophisticated drug-smuggling organizations.

Cannabis bankruptcies start to roll in as pandemic halts financing
https://www.thegrowthop.com/cannabi...ekly/wcm/54ba8962-2ccf-490c-8a21-d6ef72b7c3af
The cannabis bankruptcy filings are starting to roll in.

Already plagued by a tough regulatory environment, disappointing sales and capital markets that had closed to all but the strongest companies, the industry is now facing a pandemic-related collapse in stock markets and ever-shrinking financing options. Pot companies completed two capital raises worth just US$5.6 million the week ended March 27, according to data from Viridian Capital Advisors. That’s the lowest level of activity this year and compares to 17 capital raises worth $169 million for the same period in 2019.
