What do you recommend for a FULL Convection Vape?

Hi, I'm a day away from buying the Firefly2 + due to it being full convection.

I don't want conduction or hybrid
I also don't want a lot of smell

I want ease of use. As simple as possible. So far that brings me to the FF2+

The only 2 things I don't like about the FF2+ are ( the plastic mouthpiece ), and the fact that they won't tell you what that heating element is inside and my concern is regarding material heating up and fumes beyond my herb.

However, with that said I've been looking at some convection models and I have it down to these

FF2+
Nomad
Firewood 6
Milaan
Lil bud

What do you recommend above or something else?

Thanks

I recommend the VapCap!

There's s bit of a learning curve, but it's not rocket science.

You must pay Strict attention to the 'click', and especially the Second 'click' Before re-heating.

I think every cannabis user should own one! :smug:

That's not convection that is conduction and you are having to light the end. I'm avoiding conduction

Splinter or Milaana are pure convection, very powerful, no plastic mouth piece, use affordable non-proprietary batteries, and clean very very easily.

FF2 takes a very specific technique, and is not nearly as powerful of an extractor as the Mi or Splinter.... Just my two cents

Firewood 6 is good as is firewood 5.
I am considering both as I believe those were convection.

Would be nice to see inside the heating element and how it operates to

How do you think they compare to the Firewood 5 or 6? I did see the Milaana has unregulated heat like the magic fly box

Mistvape Imp and Impcognito also.
Only downside to those two are they are crudely made and not much thought appears to have gone into health with the coils being used. Im a little hesitant to consider those.

I have an earlier Firewood and am a much bigger fan of RBT products. The Firewood never had the extraction power i was looking for. Early models had a built in battery but that could have changed.

With the Splinter or Mi you are simply cleaning a stem and a screen. Very easy to maintain. If you are willing to mess with a MOD the possibilities of the Splinter and Splinter Z is endless.

Edit. Also early model Firewoods were more session vapes (this could have changed) vs the true instant convection on demand in the RBT products

I've owned both the FF2, Milaana and Lil Bud. Sold my FF2 to friend as I did not like the mess that was made from the required stirring. For me that killed the ritual of the FF2. Not to say stem based vapes are that much cleaner, but if you pack no deeper than the stem is wide you should not need to stir.

Please also note you are comparing regulated vapes against unregulated. While I own several unregulated vapes, the more faded I get the more likely I am to combust. For me there is almost no greater buzz kill than that taste.

Edit: Adding a Splinter or Splinter Z or a Lil Bud Elite would help as they both maybe regulated using the Box Mod software.

Majorly convection only

I think it has great firepower.
Looking into the ghost but saw not so great reviews on places i was going to purchase it from in regards to how fiddly it was and things stopping working and overheating. then others had no issues. Weird.

Ah but did the FF2+ taste good?

What makes you think that?

The woodworking is fine, very delicate cuts on the base. Dave performs a gold plating on the coil holders, so those are mostly inert. Coils are SS316 as used in nearly all 510 attys (although we never had a definitive answer as for RBT's stainless steel grade selection), but some others have Nichrome or Kanthal stock coils.

If you are concerned by the small gauge used you can replace the coils by your own. But I didn't find that necessary (and I built a lot of custom 510 RDAs myself, so I'm not afraid of the work involved) With my usage pattern and parameters, my coils don't need to glow, so I don't think there is any health issue here (besides all vapes listed above have exposed heater elements, if you are not okay with that your only hope right now is to get a halogen vape)

No really, I'm surely much more a nitpicker than you are when it comes to health and safety with our vapes, and the MistVape products clearly got my green light.

MistVape coils are stainless steel, and following instructions to calibrate for TCR with ArcticFox firmware on my AsterRT mod, it never needs to glow and I can vape below 400° effectively without stirring or scorching I just reconfirmed yesterday lol

That is a SplinterV2 also configured with TCR using ArcticFox on a Sinuous P80, along with the tinymight, and Tetra P80 (uses the same mod but everything is already configured for you using a custom tubo firmware)

All of these have very pure paths and plenty of power, however the Imp and Splinter and other vapes that need mods require some setup (Tetra is exception) but some makers can do that for you, like I think Mist might? But anyway they all have slightly different heaters as well so I'd recommend researching more thoroughly for differences...

yep wasn't aware that there were ones that were regulated and ones that weren't. Im trying to stick to ones that are regulated to avoid issues.

Im down to FF2+ and possibly the Fury Edge ( though if what im reading is correct, the fury edge is not true convection and is more hybrid)

Correct it is more of a hybrid, and it is session not on demand like Firefly, though it does have quite a bit of convection and power! Some might argue FF even has some conduction as well...

Also not sure if you saw my post above, and all of my messages as they overlapped yours ;)

Ah yes, i saw your post. Thanks. Good advice.

Yeah i was wondering if the FF was slightly conductive. I know its touted as convection but the herb sits on a metal plate, and that plate appears to be against the ceramic which gets heated, so in once sense, maybe it is conductive but just advertised as convection.

Does it have to be portable and batter powered? If not, that would open up a lot more possibilities than the vapes already mentioned in this thread...

If you can wait and you want a regulated convection vape, then I think you should look at the Timber Elite made by @Bravesst and/or the TetraP80 made by @funkyjunky.

I can personally state that the Timber Elite is my daily use vape and I love my previous vapes (Tubo Evic, Tubo Dual, and TUBOx) from @funkyjunky.

You will be satisfied with either of these, I believe.

ok, i guess i am in a similar situation, albeit with already owning a firefly 2 (minus +). re the firefly i think i can say that the flavour really is good, but it deteriorates quickly (is this a general convection problem?) and, at least for me, the ff has a tendency to char my herbs before fully / evenly extracting, even with regular stirring. so i am in the market for a full convection uprade (? - or just suffering from vas which i guess really exists around here. help me?). i am very much an on demand user, no need for more than 1-2 draws at a time..
@shitsnacks: you own a lot of the vapes i am looking at, and am wondering whether there is one you prefer over the others? i am leaning towards the p80 (i do not own a mod, but am also not afraid of a necessary set-up for splinter or mist), but that is mostly going by intuition and the good reception the tubo received.
but maybe actual performance differences between these are very minor anyway?

Yes, FF2 is a great vape for chasing flavor.. but the burnt popcorn taste is never far off. I feel as though I obtain equal flavor results from my Splinter with a clean stem, and it’s easier to clean than the FF2 was.
Is the splinter on-demand vape?

Sounds exactly like me.

I should have mentioned in my initial thread, I'm going for an on-demand vape. I like to pack it, have, toke, then put it aside without it continuing to burn my herb.

I'm starting to think that leaves me with a very limited amount of vapes to choose from

Ghost MV1 has on demand but seems like it was made awkward. A number of folks saying they have crucible problems

FF2+ is on demand but as you said

E-nano is on demand apparently but the damn thing looks clunky though heard good reports about it.

Haze Square is on demand and convection, need to look into that one. Price is good too.

Man there is a lot of vapes on the market :)

Yeah going for portable just so i can take it outside and not fill up my house with the smell of herb. Why, what other ones did you prefer that aren't portable? And is it on-demand?

Haze went out of Business. You do not want to buy a vape that is not supported at all.

As I said before look at the TetraP80 (you said you were) and the Timber Elite from Vapwood. Both on-demand convection powerhouses.

I believe I saw that someone mentioned Firewood 5 or 6. If that turns out to be your preference there was one of each in the classified ads the last time I looked.
