Decarbing Before Vaporizing

I've seen a few people on about this lately - gonna revive this thread rather than make a new one.

I am interested to hear anyone's thought/experiences on the subject. I personally rather like the flavor of my weed but would love to hear more from people who utilize this method

I don't get it...doesn't the heat that causes the good drugs in the plant turn to vapor automatically decarb them at that temp?

I think some people are attempting to decarb before vaping trying to get more CBN? And converting the THC-A into THC so it's "more readily absorbed " but yeah... not sure how that differs from straight vaporizing it ... which is why I bumped this

This is a good point actually and I'm not sure I thought about this before but this could actually be another legitimate explanation for the different effects we get depending on how we vape and what device we use.

Like if we start with a gentle extraction then we will be decarbing the bud to a slightly higher ratio than we are extracting from it first is a higher initial temperature and more rapid immediate extraction where the ratio of decarbing will be much lower and perhaps not as complete (?), but certainly over a lot faster.

And likewise as you start off a load and you are building the hits when you get to hit 3 or 4 and the Vapour is dense and it really smacked you in the face may be part of that potency is related to the more gradual initial inhalations decarbing the bod and preparing for a monster hit.

Just a dumb stoned thought I am sure but that's what came to me just now. Maybe there is a little something do it to explain or contribute to the phenomena of highly variable effects between vaporizer model and many other factors.

Edit- to address the topic here- my gut feelings are that is just an entirely unnecessary consideration ynys St to decarb your weed before you vaporizer this is the amazing thing about vaporizing cannabis you automatically get pretty much maximum efficacy from the cannabinoids and actives which are delivered into your system in a readily bioavailable and psychoactive form automatically by the process of being heated and converted into vapor.

At least that is how I thought what it was and I believe it is. This is why vaporizing cannabis is such a popular trend because it just works you can't really go wrong once you are set up.

I often think it is a shame in fact that it takes so much work and an efficient process to make cannabis as medicinally effective, potent and supportive with non vaporized methods.

I mean we infuse our own cannabis coconut oil but no way am I convinced that the same degree of endocannabinoid and general health support for the body is delivered as it is is with vaporizing the same material.

Decarbing weed before vaping= madness and just unecessary IMO.

Jump to 3:50 for decarb info

But I wouldn't want to vape plant material which has been baked in the oven or something. Probably why it's traditionally done with hash.

I can’t comment on decarb because I have not actually had an avb edible before and doubt I’ll try considering avb doesn’t get me high period smoking or vaporizing. I should actually try decarbing one day and make some edibles. I was originally told a vaporizer basically does decarb and is just as potent as using a decarboxilator but find it hard to believe.

Plus, aren't you getting rid of a significant number of tasty tasty terps with decarbing?

I suspect that the vapor would be bland at best, and tasting at or beyond the point that many of us consider our ABV fully baked and ready to throw in the jar.

I think weed does it (to some degree) by itself over time, no? That's what I seem to be reading.

Sure. You can do your best to slow it down for a long time, by storing it in airtight, humidity controlled environments...and use oxygen eaters for long term storage because oxygen is a nasty oxidising bitch.

Not exactly, PSam over at GC tested "old" cannabis several years old and there was still a long way to decarb the cannabis. Here is the link it is a large Thread (22,000 posts and 950,000 page views) However, there is an index.

IIRC Ardent has said that decarbing before vaping is beneficial. I have no position either way at this point, but I may set aside a small amount of decarbed cannabis to try vaping it. I can not put my finger on the link, but I will continue to look.
