Is fully purged QWISO safe to make into MCT oil?

I was thinking of making a small run of QWISO from 4gs of decarbed bud. Then mixing heated mct oil to the purged remains to create 33mls of potent oil.

What does fully purged mean to you. How are you doing it? You don't want to ingest ISO.

Using a hot water bath until no liquid remains.
This is just me....and I'm no biochemist. But if its not vacum oven purged, I don't believe I would want to ingest it. But I really, really, really don't want any solvents in my MMJ so I tend to avoid ISO based home recipes and use ethyl alcohol in its stead and when appropriate.

If ISO is a solvent, so is ethyl alcohol.

Ok, accurate if not a bit pedantic.

ISO is highly toxic, ethyl not nearly so much.
While ISO is far more toxic than ethyl, if we really want to get pedantic, is that true at the levels we're talking about? The body clears ISO. As long as the exposure is less than the clearance, there does not seem much danger.

Next time decarb the oil after the extraction, instead of the flower before the extraction.

That way you can do a hot water bath/room temp evaporation until it "looks done" then decarb in the oven or on a hot plate (200F-250F) to activate the concentrate and release any final solvent. Then infuse your MCT oil.

Disclaimer: try at your own risk, and don't put anything in the damn oven until it already looks done. You can even let it evaporate for a day or two at ambient temp before the oven purge to make sure. This is a pretty safe extraction method, just be smart.

Since you already decarbed the flower I would do the same water bath + oven purge listed above, just for less time in the oven since it's already been activated. 5-10 minutes should be fine.

FWIW I recommend rosin for fast and easy capsules (no purging) but QWISO does work. We can only get 70% ethanol in my state so rosin is my preferred extraction method.

Ok you had me at rosin can you please tell me how much is needed to, infuse 33ml of mct oil.

I have no idea, that depends on your starting material and how potent you want your coconut oil to be. Are you going for capsules, tinctures, edibles, or salves?

Also another thought - you could just as easy infuse the decarbed flower directly into the MCT oil and bypass the whole extraction thing. That's probably the route I would take with decarbed flower, then strain it out.

bit late to the party but whenever i've made Iso, with abv and fresh bud, i've always evaporated at room temp to get the bulk of the iso out and then got a silicone matt and put it in a pan base and purged on the matt until there are no visible bubbles left and then gently heated for another 5 to 10 mins just to be safe. usually at around 80 - 100*c and always had good results, personally, and i've never had trouble dabbing or baking with it. no flaming up even when exposed directly to flame. thats usually my test to make sure i've got most of, if not all, the iso out. cant be sure without chemical analysis, but for DIY its safer than BHO. Iso tends to strip the bulk of the flavour out of fresh bud, but abv is always good when desperate lol.
