Sticky Brick Labs Vaporizer

Favorite thing about my walnut OG brick is once it got "seasoned" from use the last couple hits started to take on their own pleasant flavor undertones.

I also really appreciate it's unique flavor profile, I almost always taste subtle differences in my brick than in other vapes.

VoidOfCourse, I noticed the wood on yours has darkened around the intake. Has the wood started to burn over time due to heat stress or what’s going on there?
Just curious.

Hey friend. For starters that whole half of the brick is actually darker than the other but its more pronounced in certain lighting/visual settings. I've been consistently surprised at how many shades of brown the species can differ.
*Also that specific area probably gets less "aired out" than the rest as it seems to be the most tightly sealed and "tucked away".*
It's 100% not anything to do with heat stress or burning since I've had it though, thankfully.

It's a very special vape to me as it was my first pure convection vape.

*Edit*: Assuming you're talking about the last pic of the inside of the intake?

Not on the inside, but the outside around and underneath the intake. The wood appears much darker, but it could be the species of wood like you had mentioned.

Damn that limba looks nice. Sweet pickup @bossman!

I might be in the minority here, but I feel like I can go way bigger clouds with the restrictor disk in.

Full disclosure: I had some good hits without the disk, but I never would say I mastered it. Most often, I'd get hot spots followed by combustion, to really light hits with the torch all the way in the intake. I never got a consistently good experience.

So I run my SBrunt with the disk in, fully carbed. Triple flame torch about 1.5in long, about 2in away from the intake. Instant vapor, instantly. And the entire time it's vapor. Speed up your draw if you want make the bowl go further.

With the disk in, it increases the time before combustion, but does not prevent combustion. I think the mentality of the community is that you can't combust with the disk in, which is not correct.

I also believe that when the restrictor disk is in, as it takes longer for combustion to occur, the intake air is more evenly heated, allowing for more even vaporization. The only time I get uneven extraction now is if I tamp the bowl weird, or I add a dab off center.

Open to discuss. If there is something I can try different that will make the SBrunt hit harder, I'm always down to learn. Cheers homies.

You're absolutely right. The restrictor disc does not prevent combustion of the herb but it does help. It is however meant to prevent scorching of the wood which can happen when first learning.

Part of the reason why some choose to go without a disc is that you don't need to over compensate with more or larger flames. I am slightly sensitive to the taste of butane so using a triple flame even with very high quality butane isn't ideal for me.

You can get just as large of a hit if not bigger without a disc but you need a little more technique due to the fact that its easier to combust without a disc. With a disc, you can hold the flame in one place without as much risk to combustion. Without, what you have to do is adjust the position of the flame relative to intake as the draw gets longer (ie pulling flame away from intake). Adjusting draw speed also helps. This is not as easy when running through water or through a pipe where the heat feedback is muted. I use that feedback to help me gauge how much to pull the flame back or how much to adjust draw speed.

This comes with time and practice and I personally think that including a restrictor disc is a fantastic idea. I wish I had one when I was learning. I lightly scorched the wood below intake on my Maxx (fixed with dremel) and was really bummed.

Also, with a straight intake, I feel like a flame that is about 45 degrees to the intake is optimal as it allows for more control but also reduces chance of combustion relative to having flame point down intake (this is actually what I do most of the time). This said, having it more perpendicular when starting out is a good move to help avoid combustion.

The great thing about these vapes is that they are completely analog and unregulated and gives a tremendous amount of user control and variability. I don't think there is a 'right' or 'wrong' way to use these. If you're able to get a great experience with the disc in and a triple flame, that's awesome. I would only suggest that everyone plays around with technique and setup. Mine changed as I got to know my bricks better.

@Logic Oh ok, now I see exactly what you're talking about. You've got a good eye!

Yeah homie, that and those poorly lit dungeon pics of mine kinda exaggerate and or obscure reality and don't do the coloring and or figuring many favors. LOL

That specific square has some darker coloring and some sporadic grain figuring.

I want to say thanks for everyone's tips and input that have made my sticky brick experience absolutely awesome from choosing to using mine. My Maxx is my favorite of what I have by far. In fact it's all I've been using since it arrived. I have a tendency to get very much into what I'm into and I've showered love on most not all of my vapes. But honestly I think I've found my mate for life in the Maxx. I think I'm done chasing the next best one. The hits and flavor are unreal and I just love looking at the purple heart wood too. I haven't had it long and although I said in an earlier post I had it down i still push it too far sometimes and slight!y combust. Also, it's funny i partially justified to my wife me getting it by saying how much time id save with the instant hits, no warm-up ,etc but I love it so much I'm still spending too much time with it experimenting lol. I swear the taste and effects are much more pronounced for me with my maxx than my others, and I love my silver surfer....a lot. Game changer for sure. I'm glad this thread is active too. I like reading about sticky bricks. Now I'm interested in the quartz dabber thing. I've never done a dab.

Thanks @nonamekevin i appreciate your congrats and your dab idea. Sticky Bricks seem so versatile there are lots of ways to enjoy them. I noticed the banger and adapter on the sticky brick site and that got me thinking.....Also your canary wood OG is beautiful. Really sweet colors and grain. looks unbelievable in the sun in your pics. I had been planning to get a maple or cherry OG then turned left and got the Maxx in purple heart. Funny how things work out but im sure I would have loved the OG and I will probably use it far more dry than with hydro...probably. I can't imagine switching solidarity away from Sticky Brick now. If anything I now want a Junior for on the go action. So maybe I do need just one more vape after all.

I'm an idiot. Sorry Coal Cracker. YOUR OG i awesome in canary wood. I've been with my Maxx a lot today. Lol. My bad.

Just received my 2nd WPA for the SBrunt and it is really impressive. The first time I had the wpa, I didn't give it enough of a chance before selling it. Part of the reason was because I didn't spend enough time learning the runt dry first before using the wpa.

After getting my technique down (fully carbed, restrictor disk in, triple flame torch and herb tamped down), going back to the wpa is face melting. I'm able to push the bowl further, and each hit has been absolutely face melting. I consider my tolerance average for an everyday user of herb and concentrates, and with the wpa, the hit is sooo dense, I almost get too medicated.

I thought I had my technique down dry. So I tried the mini bubbler yesterday with no restrictor disk in. The first 2 hits went good but i combusted on the 3rd. I'll have 2 put the training wheels back on 2 use the bubbler.

Im kind of getting buyers remorse about getting a hydro maxx instead of the OG Brick after seeing everyone's. I wanted a brick but went with the hydro for possible future upgrades i doubt I'll ever buy, plus the Brick looks 100 times better. I need to stop looking at all your cool OGs. And they are all cool.

I hear ya, buddy. I’m really attracted to the OG Brick... like, a whole lot.

Hello Hello!
Since two weeks I am a very happy owner of the OG! :)

I wanted to ask if other owners also have the experience that this "metal (tube)ring thing" falls out sometimes? I can squeeze it back in where it belongs; but it doesnt feel "normal". Or am I wrong? :\

Thanks

Thanks for the tip! I thought it works...Because if I do a right click on the symbol of the pic and choose "open pic in new tab" it always worked!

The picture shows the metal ring on the bottom of the flameintake-block, which kinda connects it with the herbs-chamber-block.

I think I understand what you're saying. Do you mean that you have the restrictor disc positioned between the two blocks that make up the chamber and intake? If so, the restrictor disc is installed incorrectly.

Remove the intake glass. Then place the restrictor disc into the slot where the intake stem goes with the tube part of the disc facing down. You should then be able to place your intake stem back into position which will hold the restrictor disc in place.

When you combust, you can easily char the wood directly beneath the intake stem. This helps protect that part of the wood and also makes it a little harder to combust. Hope this helps.

Thank you for the quick response and your tips! But unfortunately I do not mean the Intake! I mean the mettal ring, which seen in the pic here https://www.vaposhop.de/images/resi...731-sticky-brick-og-brick-chamber-exposed.jpg

This ring falls out time to time!

Welcome to “The Club,” Fat Croissant!

We hope you enjoy your stay here. Things can get pretty addicting... :brow:

That should not happen. You should contact either Sticky Brick or the retailer that you purchased from. It seems like it would be an easy fix with food-safe glue but I wouldn't risk doing anything unless you have been instructed by SBL or the retailer.

EDIT: You aren't supposed to make back to back posts. You can use the edit button to edit your prior post within 6 hours of posting. It's not a huge deal and the mods will merge your messages but just a quick heads up. I also wouldn't feel badly. I did it twice when I first joined.

This may sound silly, but you tried both sides of the ring right? I think with one of bricks one side of the ring fits really well and the other is kind of loose.

I also agree with @flammy to wait for sjb to reply in here, they're pretty responsive.

No No - it does not sound silly at all! If it falls out I can pull it back (both sides) and it holds for a bit. Both sides act the same. Feels like
My new question is: Is this ring actually really necessary?! 'cause the Runt do not have such a ring. And without this ring it also works. And it makes it even faster to open the og to check the herbs while having a session.

It can work without the ring, but it helps to reduce air lekeage (filtration?) from outside the vaporpath.
Other older vapes like lillies and daisies or dobbys works trough a pipeline
One guy explained a similar problem pages ago and he fixed the issue squeezing ust a little bit that circular ring to get an oval one.
Anyway, wait for brick labs blessing

So I had a "eureka!" Moment ( for me lol) today with my Maxx. I've been topping off herb loads with dry ice kief of various grades and I had been frustrated by combustion and inconsistent hits due to operator error which lead to ruined loads, clogged screens, and wasted product. Also I was frustrated. I want everything to be perfect between my Maxx and me, but it's been a challenging get to know each other period. After another partial combustion experience remembered a post here about putting the training wheels back in with the restrictor disc....So I did that too. Awesome results! No combustion so far. I can get my product hotter so giant giant hits. Great flavor. And true vapor I'm pretty sure instead of the mostly vapor and some smoke i was getting due to my own fault from getting my flame too deep for too long, or some combination of that with inhale speed etc. Anyway this is working really well for me. I hope everyone is having a good weekend with their stickys.
