Discontinued Sublimator XLR

Now I'm home, I can verify my Sub PSU has its green LED glowing solid. This occurs whenever it is plugged in to mains, even with the Monkey Controller disconnected.
How old is the PSU? It's not uncommon for something like that to eventually die.
the PSU is 3-4 years old

did you normally leave it plugged in to power? surge protected?

3-4 years is a decent amount of time, not a super long innings though. Might be worth checking the cable before replacing the whole unit

Yes it was always plugged in no surge protector and ran the sublimator 6+ hours everyday for the full 3-4 years

I guess that’s it for Sublimator CA?
What a fucking shame, RIP to another great vaporiser in the already dwindling market of Plug-ins.

It's really hard to know what's going on.

Enrico is obviously making canna infused wine, but that doesn't mean the Sub is over.
There has been a bit of hear-say which makes it sound like something is in the works.
'Sublimator Warrior' on insta I think might be in the loop but there's no public info.
I really hope it makes a big comeback because this device is like no other and simply incredible

I have to agree it is like no other. I hope to see them make a comeback but the lack of updates is foreboding.

...when i get it right, what makes the sub special and sets it apart from others like Flowerpot or Herborizer TI is the "bowl" part with the very narrow hole and the termal equilibrium between "head" and "bowl"?

Any body tried to rebuild this with the FP and an alternative bowl + prewarming?

Sublimator should get on track, because when somebody else incorportes this concept, perhaps as an option, no one will be still interested in the sub...

I believe @Stu has a vid doing this though not with the FP, joyously claimed "it's working" if my memory serves me correctly. Which is iffy

I haven’t tried to rebuild anything but I’ll chime in to say I have both Sub & FP. With Sub being unavailable at the moment it’s a pretty easy choice which one to buy.

With the FP over 720 capped using the same bubbler & draw speed as the Sub I can get massive one hit draws.
Capping the FP gives it similar restriction to that of the Sub & makes it easier to compare the two.

It took a lot of testing & combusting to find my preferred temp for the FP whereas the Sub with its preset temperatures is much faster to dial in.

You don’t need to leave the atomiser attached on the FP like you do with the Sub I find this an advantage.

Vapour between the two is very different, the Sub has the smoothest vapour of any vape I’ve used with or without water.

FP vapour is harsher in my opinion.

The FP sometimes gives even bigger hits than the Sub which blows my mind, but you have to load the bowl full to do this & it has a bigger bowl so that makes sense. Looking at the two atomisers it might not appear that way but the Sub can’t take more than a 1/4 of a teaspoon without the load touching the heater head.

FP can take more if you’re game.

The FP is easier to clean & very quick with 10 minutes heat up time compared to the Sub 30 or more heat up time.

I prefer the vapour from the Sub, with or without water.....but I would have bought way more accessories for the Sub over the last 12 months, I wanted glass & a Ti atomiser etc but the site has been closed so my money went elsewhere.

The Sub is without a doubt my favourite vaporiser & I hope the company makes a comeback.

on sublimators instagram are some cryptic infos / signs that the sub will come back from the death.....

just saying, who knows......
Yeah I saw that, and on Sublimator_Warriors page too, I hope he wouldn't mind me sharing what he said,

"What if I tell you that there could be some new sublimator full kit and starting kit being available.Would seriously scoop one. Please leave your intentions in the comment. #sublimatorwarrior#sublimator @thesublimator"

I also saw this interesting comment - "good New’s the HQ is starting a store repair programme for all older version that need some attention"

So that is certainly good news, whatever it means

That looks awesome thanks for posting @MoltenTiger I’ll have to get one & see if it’s better than my 1/4 tsp.
I’m excited this company might be coming back soon but they have been saying that on the website for two years now, & that’s a long time for me to be excited.
Are we not even going to get an explanation? It’d be like that missing plane showing up & everyone acting like nothing happened.

Yeah, it's been a long time coming. I saw Q4 2019 (so sometime after October) "Our next big move" mentioned on the website.

https://www.instagram.com/p/B0Ol3C2hYv3/ <- that's the official instagram page, it sounds like more info is nearly ready for release

Very happy to hear about this and now the weirdness of the last few years make more sense. Also intrigued by him saying “no-one left behind” twice, does this mean that prices for Sublimator kits are going to be more competitive with other top vapes?! Probably not, lol! But it’s a different vape world in the time since they went away and I don’t think they can expect $1000+ per kit in today’s market. Especially not if it’s essentially the same product as before. I wonder what innovations & improvements have been made?! :brow:

Nevertheless I am very excited about the future for Sublimator because this is one of those legendary devices, and whether you believe “sublimation” or “biogassification” or think it’s marketing, it does kick ass by all accounts. Recently I’ve been thinking about what the next plug-in might be for me, thinking about the GS or maybe HerboTi? There’s generally not much activity in Desktops but if the Sublimator folks can actually roll out new products in Q4 and not fuck it up, it will be the biggest thing of 2019 imo. Bigger than Volcano Hybrid, bigger than Ditanium. imo only!

I laughed so hard at the Dank Shank! Yet another fine example of repurposing an existing product and giving it a cool(?) name, then mark it way the fuck up for the stoners. Clicking the link from @MoltenTiger sent me right back to organic chemistry, it’s a Scoopula! Or since that’s the utensil’s brand name and they cost ~$3, so not enough profit there, PV surely went with a no-name and that’s shitloads of profit. But whatever, capitalism and caveat emptor, blah blah...

True Confession:
The Dank Shank (lol) is one of my top five tools, I use it daily and it’s absolutely amazing for transferring ground material from BCG to Jyarz easily, no muss-no fuss! I’ve always liked the sound of saying “scoopula” but Dank Shank sounds even cooler and more dangerous. I thought I was clever, using a cheap chemistry utensil but if I were really clever, I would have bought 5000 scoopulas and marketed them as Dank Shanks...:disgust: FML

I hope so & I concur.

The only thing I can see as a bigger release for 2019 is the Onsen Labs Desktop Pro. It's has some next level shit I don't think I've ever seen in a vape before. :haw: (HAW!)

Haha, I definitely enjoy my Dank Shank - almost as much as I enjoy saying it :D

I did really like the consistency of using a 1/4 tsp measuring spoon (including the time I blew my mind when I mistook the 1/2tsp as my usual and brimmed it :ko:).
The Dank Shank can handle a whole lot or just a little, but it's harder to be precise with load sizes.

The plating on my measuring spoon was just so low quality it bothered me. I did try to find some neat looking and not ridiculously priced SS 304 measuring spoons or spatulas, but I just couldn't ever land on anything worthy. Most high quality tools I found weren't cheap. Even eBay was full of expensive but decent options that left me stoned in the kitchenware isles for longer than I'd care to repeat. All I needed was the Dank Shank! It has been a great replacement and has held up well.

Scoopula, that was the phrasing needed to return the max value options

what innovations & improvements have been made?! :brow:
About the only complaint I have with mine is the 1-hour time-out. Newer models have a 3hr option, which would be a decent improvement.

In terms of vapour production, I think it's already perfect.

It'd be brilliant if they made it faster to heat up and made it much more affordable. Failing that, if they add a digital controller with remote IP power control, that'd be nice.

@Morty lol! I stand corrected sir, how could I forget them? Onsen Labs is dropping some next level shit indeed! I think that OL is just really, really, way ahead of their time. They’ve gone back in time: The design! The terminology! Vapor Brothers is 20 years old but this is Laboratory Grade! But now I got to get real, please don’t get upset about it but I gotta call ya out. Even though I agree w/you 100% about the Desktop Pro, I’m not sure that it’s cool bringing them up in this thread. We have rules against this sort of thing man.

I mean, you’re drawing attention to the Sub’s top competition and leading all the potential customers who are coming here, looking for the baddest heavy-hitter and taking them right into Onsen’s arms! Sublimator peeps gotta eat too. Just tell us Morty, dude - why do you hate the Sublimator so much?! :D

@MoltenTiger I’m okay with 3 hours but a one hour cut-off would be a bit of a PITA for me as well. That would get old. I like the way you think mister, I’d say faster heat up and digital controller are reasonable expectations in 2020 and I pray to the Vape Gods they can get the price around ~$500 for a decent kit, instead of $750; of course, they can offer options or a “super-master-pack” for those who want to spend $1000! I’m really glad to have the opportunity to get Sublimator vapour. It had come and gone by the time I found vaporization and it’s one I’ve always kinda regretted missing, knowing that I’d never get that experience.
So now I’m like
