Yeah black upgrade has me very interested and excited to be one of the beta users I hope that is able to be done!

The new website layout looks nice and flows well and sending out the emails for beta users to make a new account and everything helped the transfer process so much for me!

Herb bowl is actually nice!!! Ran a few seshes with some friends at various temps and everyone was impressed. App control allows you to really hone in on either flavor or effect. We were getting very tasty vapor in the mid 300s and some dense hits in the high 400s. When I saw the Carta was a combo device, I figured flower would be a tacked on feature that was inferior to the oil function. But it's great! It definitely won't replace my Cloud Evo or Ditanium when I'm home, but taking the herb bowl on the go is going to be a super underrated feature. Another nail in Puffco's coffin.

That's great! The dry herb atty is definitely something I've been looking forward to.
I'm not beta, so hopefully I won't have to wait too long to get one.

@FocusV you guys are gonna run my pockets dry on these devices but I'm so glad that this leap has been made in the industry.

@freddiegibbs what grind would/did you use if you don't mind me asking.

I'd have to do some more testing to make a recommendation, but we broke by hand the first couple of bowls and did a fine grind for the next couple. Either way we had to stir every couple of hits to keep the vapor coming.

Dope man. For a conductive atomizer that size I'd expect a stir every hit but if it can go more than one good inhale before it could use a stir then that's pretty good in my book.

That is for the updates man.

Edit: @FocusV what is the amperage CDR output on these 18350's?

This is ALL accurate to my experience as well.

@freddiegibbs I really want to know about that Ceramic and how it compares to the Ti :D

The Carta speaks to me and i d really like to own one.

So many positives about it but i want to strongly ad to this thread that IMHO, Bluetooth and Apps with so many permissions is a BIG no no for paraphernalia!!!
Most countrys are still illegal and nobody who has the luck to live in a legal area now should forget about history. No one knows how things will be in 5, 10 or 50 Years....

For sure everybody can decide themself, but not everybody gives too much thought and perhaps there is some responsibility for the customers...

just my :2c:

I was lucky enough to meet the FocusV team today (I called it "focus five" in front of them ) who made good on their promise to swap out my base irl rather than having to warranty it.

After meeting them, I feel I can comfortably dismiss anyone saying they've had an "abysmal" experience with the company. Those people simply have no perspective on what it's like to try building a business from the ground up. It hasn't been a perfect rollout, but it's been pretty damn impressive what these 2 people have managed to accomplish basically by themselves so far.

Redesigning their site, rolling out the subscription service, getting the apps on the marketplaces, setting up the beta accounts to send out dry herb and repair kits, building their online marketplace for 3rd parties to sell accessories, handling literally hundreds of warranty claims and customer service inquiries, promoting to local shops, innovating new accessories - these are a handful of things FocusV has worked on just in the past few days, FROM THE ROAD, traveling with their gigantic family of dogs. All whilst overseeing the production, sales, marketing, distribution, etc. for the company at large. It's an INSANE workload for 2 people to shoulder, yet they manage to do a damn good job of it, all things considered. And they always seem to go above and beyond for anyone who feels they've had a poor experience - which 9 times out of 10 winds up being some entitled jerk who throws a hissy fit when things don't go exactly their way.

Anyway, I was super impressed with what a nice, humble, hard-working, and above all transparent couple they are. I know as a customer it's easy to have tunnel vision about your experience, and feel like you're personally being wronged somehow when things don't go smoothly - I am guilty of this myself. But meeting them today erased any doubts and made me a customer for life. I swapped my base, picked up my herb chamber and repair kit, shared some of my homemade rosin with Randall and another customer who stopped by, and even managed to score a couple nice freebies. I'll let you know how the ceramic cup works soon!
Called customer service twice today. No one answered. And focus has already admitted having my warranty claim for 20 days and I have had no progress from them on getting it resolved. Their growing pains does not change my experience as a customer. How do you dismiss my issue?

I'm the 2nd person dismissing you because I called to have my Carta warranted on Thursday, May 23rd and they answered right away. The warranty was processed on Sunday, during Memorial Weekend which I wasn't expecting to be done that fast but it did.

I'm thinking the problem is you and not Focus V.

There's always an outlier and it seems you're taking your turn. Just bad luck in the draw?

I feel for you, all of my interactions have been painless with only slight delays while they were on the road.

For an initial roll out from a small company, communication has been great and progress continues.

It's early on the west coast! I don't know many big companies that answer the phone before 8, let alone small ones. It sounds like they're all caught up on warranty stuff too, so hopefully your new thing will show up soon.

The ceramic is nice. I like it a little better than the quartz. You can see how thin it is compared to the Peak cup:

Rosin at 572-590 in ceramic is the best way I've had it in the Carta. I have to use it more to be sure, but so far it seems to be producing better vapor in the atty with walls than the one without, even though the cup has a fitted bottom. That's the same issue I was having with the quartz. You also have to be real careful screwing it in - the feel of the ceramic cup rubbing against the ceramic heating plate gives the impression that either could crack if you don't tighten the cap very sensitively.

Glad you are enjoying the ceramic @freddiegibbs and you are correct about the rubbing. it gives the sand paper feeling haha not one i enjoy but the flavors that come from it are insane.

We have a sample of the stainless steel atomizer finished and I am either planning a trip to china right now or they are shipping it to me immediately one of the two.

@Doktor Dub yea i hear you on that not sure of all the permissions myself. i know that certain sets of permissions are lumped into larger groups like for example if we wanted to vibrate your phone i believe that is just in a class of accessing your phone calls haha which is weird. I guess one thing I haven't tried is going back in after the fact of install and seeing about turning the permissions of. wonder if it would still work fine? something to tinker with today i suppose.

Some of you beta customers I still need you guys to add your address to your new accounts. you should have received an invite email. if you haven't yet then please PM me so i can get you setup.

OH! MOST IMPORTANTLY ALMOST FORGOT. SUBSCRIPTION USERS!

IF YOU PURCHASED A SUBSCRIPTION.
PLEASE VERIFY THAT IT CHARGED YOU THIS MONTH.
I HAVE A FEELING WITH THE TRANSITION THAT YOU WILL NEED TO BE SETUP BACK UP ON THE NEW PLATFORM.

IF THAT IS THE CASE PLEASE PM ME DIRECTLY SO WE CAN GET YOU SETUP WTHOUT THE SHIPPING COST.

I'm guessing that the herb atomizer is similar(or potentially the exact same) as the Boundless heaters(?) From the pics on reddit it looked exactly like the Tera heater/chamber and the dude(Randal?) on the live streams is the same guy from Boundless.

The Tera was too stank(silicone never left ..still hasn't) for me but the heater wasn't half bad. Not sure what the quality of the materials used are.. As long as there's no more stanky silicone in the airpath I'll test 'er out

Nice review on the ceramic @freddiegibbs! I'm jelly :)

How doest the ceramic bucket clean up? Is it easier than the quartz?
You can't qtip as aggressively because of that sandpapery feeling, but it's pretty easy to mop up. Precision tip swabs will probably be best. It discolored after first use though, whereas quartz I can clean to like new after every cycle.

You should be able to torch the ceramic clean, like with the Puffco cup, no?

How do you empty the herb chamber, take atomizer off? Just wondering.
Yeah, or if it's still too hot you can just pop off the glass and flip the whole base over. You'll want a sharp-pointed tool and maybe a swab to give it a thorough cleaning, but it's easy. Also seems inevitable that you'll get particulate stuck inside your carb cap. If I was using herb mode regularly, I'd probably have a dedicated carb cap in addition to dedicated glass.

Are you worried at all about concentrate taste degradation after using it with dry herb?
I don't have enough information yet but it's a good question. I guess not really? The air path in the base still smelled like herb for the first couple dabs after vaping, but went away a couple more dabs after that. No herb taste on the oil though (we used separate glass for herb and oil). I guess it'll depend on how frequently you vape herb and how often you clean that path, which seems to collect residue pretty easily. And obviously whether you have dedicated glass.

@jimsmith90210 Yea after i use the herb chamber 1 time i have to either clean the glass i used to get rid of the herb taste or run like 20 dabs to get past it. I would recommend a clean or a dedicated herb glass top. Otherwise potentially some of the water solutions might help with the flavoring.

@freddiegibbs Id also recommend a side carb cap if as you say you will use continuously. This will prevent any residual flavors from transferring.
