Perhaps we should talk about possible improvements to the Sai, or where we go from here.

Ok, I'd like to see a sic (or similar) dish with the heater wire embedded in it. That would make the dish/bucket one piece rather than a bucket sitting on a heater.

Btw I just bought a ss sai pico 75w combo on sale from hvt ($57). But it came a ss taf model, cool i guess, but the threaded hole that the splash guard (i dont remember the proper name) screws into doesn't have threads. In a sealed box though. HVT said they'll send me the right parts after I sent them a picture of the parts. Not sure what parts their sending a regular or taf.

As far as improvements to the Sai ... I really like this setup :) ... it hits better than any other portable setup I have. I kinda' like the size of the motar cup, but I like more that the Sai coils don't get red hot, and I haven't found anything that fits the motar nicely like this :)

- Lost Vape Paranormal 250C
- Sai Quartz Cup Atomizer
- Base from the Storm Bubbler Attachment (fits Sai atomizers, but has a different diameter for glass etc.)
- Bubbler from a Source Nail XL kit (I don't generally use the 2nd piece)
- 25mm Quartz Pi Bubble Cap (from 710 coils)

Since I dialied in the parameters for my mod I am really happy with the sai taf ti bucket... thanks to @DJ Colonel Corn. I am thinking of buying quartz bucket is it better then ti bucket and do I have to change parameters in mod between ti bucket and quartz bucket or are they the same...

Does anyone have experience using live resin badder in the Sai Or the Motar? It doesn't seem to vape very well in either and I don't know if it's my mod settings, type of Atomizer/coil or what?

Various online sources say it only works with a rig/torch on at least 500-600F. Other sources say no it only works best between 315-400F. What gives? This stuff is too expensive to waste but I really don't like high temp dabbing. Some consider 500-600F to be low temp bit I sure don't!

@DjColonel Corn and Shredder.
To begin with I would like to let you know that I have read all the threads having anything to do with the Sai and Sequoia on here as well as redit and and tried just about everything anyones reccomended and still can't seem to get it to work properly for me. I don't know if I'm just stupid or what. This is my first TC device and mod so this is all new to me. Prior to this I used either an old school dab rig and torch, Cpenail erig or a Yocan pen device. I haveva Voopoo Drag, which the tcr settings are all in the thousands instead of hundreds like all settings I've seen, and a Sequoia. I have read that a lot of people are having issues with both buckets on it,'not by far just me, but also a lot by those who love them with the Sequoia. I can't even get the donut coil working properly. It leaks like a siv for me. Last time in tried it I wasted over 1/2g of Moxie badder. It all ends up leaking through the withholds on the bottom of the coil and pooling in the bottom of the atomizer housing. I'm also still having probs figuring out what all you can do on the drag as well as how? The instuction manual that comes with it is about 1/2 the size on an index card and not very helpful so any help there would greatly be appreciated. Thanks in advance for your assistance.

Hi all, really sorry if this is not the place to ask- but I am wondering...

Currently I fill my own cartridges with shatter, am I best off sticking to carts, or would a TAF Sai be a more efficient/ otherwise better way to use my concentrates (which are not always easy for me to get!) During the day/ out and about?

Carts are at least so convenient, just wondering what the Sai offers alternatively!

@OyVape,
Yeah man, I use badder all the time with my Sequoia. I typically use the triple titanium with black ceramic as I find it gives the best mix of flavor and strength that as a medical user I need for my severe chronic pain. I set the ohms on the coil to 36.1 and start the temp off at 360f. I use 2-3 sec pulses to preheat coils and melt the badder so that the ceramic wicks can absorb it. After first 1-2 hits at 360, I move up 15" every hit or two until I get to 420-440f tops or out of concentrate.

Carts are great for convenience, portability, and stealth, and I still use them daily, but for potency, flavor, and cloud size you can't beat a Sequoia or a Sai.

How do you fill your carts with shatter... do use ccells... I tried to use rosin in carts but I have to dilute it with pg or terps for the right viscosity...that is where the sai shines for me I do not have to dilute my rosin and can enjoy it pur in the sai...

I would like to know how I could use rosin in carts without diluting... because when you are out the carts are very stealth and easy to use...

I decarb my shatter on a hot plate till it stops bubbling, then add a drop or two of terpene diluent (literally aim for 0.025ml per g of concentrate) and mix like a madman, draw through an 18ga blunt syringe and squirt out a few times to make sure it really is as mixed as its gona get and then squirt into my ccells. Proper thick consistency (hours for a bubble to move) and can load a whole gram or more into a cart at a time. They work great and can generally be refilled once or twice depending on the quality of the shatter and how hard I have pushed the atomiser.

The sai at least cuts out that work, but am I just going to end up spending more time over all having to load as I go and clean the thing? If carts are easier out and about then i may as well stick with them, as I have other ways to use concentrates at home really.

as said before I like the idea of carts but I do not like to dilute... also heared there are a lot of snake oil sellers in the terp and concentrate diluting department... Which terps can you recommend?

I now ordered the terp pen from boundless for on the go (and if it works good to use in general with my rosin)... you do not have to dilute your concentrate and it should not be hard to load on the go or to consume with it as it is a nectar collector (battery driven) in a small pen format as far as I understood...

I also can recommend the motar atomizer similar to sai quartz bucket...

http://mrbaldvapor.com/product/motar/

but as far as it is mainly made out of glas and quartz I do not know how good it would be on the go.. and you also would have to load and clean whereas cleaning the motar or sai is not that hard you can wipe it out with a q-tip after use... but it is sometimes depending on the constency of you concentrate hard to load...

@btka I use the diluent blend from terpenes-uk.co.uk. they have their msps results all up on their website, not that I have enough knowledge to say if their results prove they are safe! But I use so little as to not massively concern me.

@shredder - have you upped the watts and temp for your bucket settings? compared to the other coils, you probably want to go higher on both those settings...the watts to increase the heat up time, and the temp to get it hotter. It's all about how long it takes to heat up, and the bucket coils need 3-5 seconds worth of preheat, ime, and then I pulse it to restart the timer. I feel like you probably know this, but thought I'd throw it out there. The fact that it pools and darkens is a good sign...either you need to turn things up, or you have a defective coil that isn't getting hot enough.

Hey man!

I'm at 30w and 290F, but I'm not using buckets. I'm using the ceramic coils. The info on their site actually recommends 15w, for donuts and I gradually upped it. At 30w I get a little splatter, but 3-4 seconds to get vapor. A good balance for me.

I gave the buckets a good go but eventually found the donuts were my best bet. I don't like hot vaping and generally stick to low temps and taste. I did get the buckets to work reasonably well but the ti bucket tastes like metal to me and the quartz buckets eventually leaked into the heater. I was disappointed since I bought the sai with the idea that I'd like the buckets. From my reading here I know the buckets are popular.

As a test I loaded a small dab in just the ceramic heater for a bucket, but not the bucket. I set it to their recommendations and fell in love with it, lol. Now I have ten coils change them when they get dirty. When I get a handful of dirty coils I clean them. Everything has been working fine and it's my daily driver, the taste i get with rosin is hard to beat, and I bought a spare sai and mod, so I'm all set bro. Appreciate the help though.

@megatron
what temp do you Decarb the shatter at?
...and do you happen to recall about how long?
Thanks

I set the hot plate to around 95°c (though i very much doubt the readout accuracy), and I let it go till it stops bubbling, which is generally around half an hour to forty mins, but I'm usually sat next to it keeping an eye on things so I can adjust temp as i go.

Megaton,
@Megaton Do you stop after the large bubbles? Or, do you wait until it stops bubbling completely (even the tiny bubbles)?

My hotplate is a little hotter (about 250F, 120C) and I usually stop after the large bubbles are done. Usually, not more than 5 minutes or so. I got this method from Gray Wolf over at ICMag.

I tend to stop it when I feel like I want to get on with my life :lol: I guess I wait for most of, but not all, the little bubbles to stop. Could run it hotter to speed everything up, but I am worried about making the oil go dark from too much heat, so I err on the side of caution.

If you try a donut, you may want to use the bottom air flow. Both top & bottom work but I think the bottom air flow works a little better with the ceramic donuts. It does splatter more than taf, but it's a richer vapor as well.

30w and 290F is a good starting point. I'm using these settings for rosin.

Interesting...I usually go with a slower heat up and a higher temp, like 23w and 380F. I'll have to give it a go with your settings and see if it tastes better or worse. Your settings would definitely heat up quicker than mine!

Glad to hear you're humming along! There are so many options to the Sai, that it's usually a matter of playing around long enough to find your style.

I usually Decarb my comcentrates at 195-200f for 12hours on a double boiler setup (so it's just the steam from the water that's heating your concentrates. By the time I remove them from the heat all bubbles have long stopped. The lower temp you use to Decarb the longer it must be heated. I have a chart I got online somewhere with temps and times required that works well.

This was similar to how I last used my SAI and what led me to design and build the 510MOD actually. I was using that exact bubbler from Source Vapes even. I am surprised you did not get more comments on this setup. Kudos on the Frankenstein retrofit! This is how progress is made people!

Hey guys, I'm still messing around with the ceramic donut coils for my Sequoi and having trouble dialing it in. Does anyone happen to have a good tcr number to use on a VooPoo
Drag with them? For some reason, all the tcr settings on my Voopoo are in the thousands instead of hundreds, like other mods, and there's no explanation on the miniscule instruction manual that comes with it. If anyone has a Drag and could please explain how the tcr numbers work on it if really appreciate it. Thanks.
