So radically change the screen and trough!!!

Yup, that's how I see it. Can't beat Ohm's Law, even with a good (or bad) lawyer on your side. If you want to keep the same general power, and raise the voltage you must reduce the current. Only way to do that is to increase the resistance. I actually understated the necessary change above to make it easier to follow. The 'increase the length by four' bit above simply gets the current back in range and keeps from melting the mesh. There will still be four times the voltage (3.6, not .75) and power being Volts times Amps we will be producing four times the power in that larger trench.

To make a trench the size of MFLB, and using the same power (therefore the same heat/results) we need another factor of four....... Just not practical. You can change the material (to one that's a poorer conductor) and still be as strong and tough as SS is, but I'm confident there are no such metals available. Electrical conduction and heat conduction constants tend to track. Silver conducts electricity and heat better than say Copper, which is in turn better than SS at both. SS is already near the bottom of the high resistance list and it's nowhere close to the goal.

If you look into the "Launch Tube" (predecessor of the box) you'll see they did a lot of research/fiddling to get to the impressive product they offer. Not an easy balancing act for sure. Bumping the voltage up four times (power up 16 times) is going to make it a whole new game.

If you ignore this and swap out the source you won't have to worry about combustion happening or not, 'cuz the sun is going to come up in your box.......

Fun idea, but with some though nuts to crack before it becomes possible. And, in the end, I think the nature of the Box would end up changing a lot. IMO it's a highly refined tool for good right now, and should be enjoyed as such. Sort of optimized if you will?

Good to dream of better things, of course, but a small dose of reality might keep it between the ditches?

I was always amazed to the point of thinking it was just a happy happenstance the MFLB works as it does. For some reason I was deluded into thinking there was all kinds of trial and error to get just the right size/make of mesh and rails to heat the herb correctly.

Now you're telling me it's just math?

I'm reminded of (Arthur C.) Clark's Third "law":
Any sufficiently advanced Technology is indistinguishable from magic.

I think you're right, the evidence of all the hard work is there. 'Cut and try' at it's finest.

No, I don't think it's 'just math' but if the math doesn't fit it's not going to happen? And remember "Bumble Bees can't fly", ask any expert on the matter.

Now see isn't this fun! Rekindleing interest into a vape that most everybody has but don't use very often! Now ill have to dig mine out and rem inis! Ill use the PA though! No drop off in power!

If they were to update the mflb, I'd like the battery to be inserted and have a seperate button to operate. I know you can take out the rubber stopper, there's just a chance you'll forget to remove the battery and combust. At the least I'd like a stopper that was easier to push in.

Hopeful thinking about a seperate button rather than pushing the battery in aha.

that's essentially the way the power adapter works

Remember the wave of knock-offs that came a while back? Da Cube, Dragon Lite, Etc. They were all really bad, and some were made with plastic. If you google "Round Magic Flight Launch Box" you can see a legit circular model that either...
A: never got realized, or B: was a April Fools joke.

Electronically speaking.....
a bare battery (no wrapping) at the voltage you describe, could cause problems if not attended to well.
It could make contact with pos. and neg. poles more easily if not carefully kept covered.....
Freshly charged, it could even have potential to "arc".
I am not trying to rain on the parade of this dream, but having been on close terms with the folks at Magic Flight since the beginning, I believe that we wont see a newer box, besides the continuing upgrades to the existing style, size, and power source.
For what it's worth, Magic Flight has survived and lived through most other companies that have come and gone.
Now that @OF has explained the science behind it, and the business model... someone else can try to make a more powerful box that you describe.
The owner of Magic Flight is very particular, and somewhat reluctant to change.

For sure, that is even more scary to me. There's a huge amount of total energy available for mischief, far far more than in the MFLB battery. They make a big deal of the safety caps, IMO for very good reason. "Playing with fire" as it were......

I stand corrected..forgot about that one. Question...do you think that the Volta would exist if there had never been a MFLB?

Excellent question. I think it's clear MFLB was the inspiration at least? And it's VG's only electric offering.......they might have got around to 'rethinking ' their proven 'flame powered' technology but I doubt it personally. AFAIK they never tried it on another product?

As I recall the VG 'version' was never very popular, where MFLB quickly earned a 'fan base' the borders on a cult.

Weekend regards to all.

I really recommend the finishing grinder to improve the performance and the ease of use. I also grind the material at home and save it into a pill tube.
Not like the official batteries. I prefer some old kodak NiMH from an old camera flash, just peeled them and went to play. Compared to the official batts, they perform faster and gets hotter, but last a bit less.
But I'll insist on the grinder. It fits the needs of this device like a glove.

I can't thank you enough! much cleaner than using a card grinder and paper to funnel and doesnt make powder. The best part about it that it works with my Vapman when I use it with the funnel. also the walnut MP looks great on both my vaporizers!

How do the old glyph batteries compare to the gold ones, when I got my LB off Kijiji for $40 it was quite new but one of the batteries were shorted as the cap was on the wrong end and i'm not sure if the other battery performs how it should. Either way I got 2 sets to be safe.

as always 420 in the 204

@buckhakeesah you and me both. I had my eye on this a year ago and just now pulled the trigger. Wow I love this thing!! its smooth, flavorful and potent. And the thing I like best is that its the only vape I own that forces me to sit down, relax for 5 minutes and really be mindful of what I'm doing. The only thing that bums me out is that I waited so long to get one.

So I made a post on here before questioning if my launch box was working properly thinking it was running a little cold since I find in neigh impossible to combust; except when I didnt have the spacer in and forgot the battery in the box. I was told that it's probably working fine.

After getting a fancy new tri wood box I feel that I was right. This new box runs twice as hot and I get vapor after 2 short seconds.

So what should I do with my old box? Use it as a beater, it isnt even a year old and never performed like my new one.

@204Markie I'm new to the MFLB but my first question would be did you try your new batteries on your old box? Its possible you had a bad batch of batteries. If not, drop them an email and see what they say.

I mention the batteries because I bough a used one and it came with 2 sets of batteries and one of them doesnt work well.

Let us know what happens if you contact them. They may have a rep here on FC also.

I didnt use the "new" batteries at all as I bought 2 sets of batteries 3 weeks before my new box came in.

hello, i wanted to ask if this is too good to be true... seems the price is much cheaper than others. Im hesitating because they want me to choose the "friends and family" option on paypal, making it impossible to dispute in case things go wrong.

thanks. thats what im thinking, but i was wondering if anyone here has ordered from them.

Also, I actually just remembered that i used to have a MFLB with the concentrate tray a few years ago. Can someone tell me how the Maud Dib compares to that? MFLB+concentrate tray felt a little weak for me.
Is the Maud Dib popular here? Is there a thread for it specifically? i couldnt find any. I need a concentrate vape thats good for shatter/crumble and i am a little confused. any help is appreciated.
also, is it possible to burn the concentrate with the maud dib?
