Nereus NOVA a.k.a Atman Starlight 2

I stubled upon this low cost vaporizer a few days ago while googling around @ https://www.kronicvapes.co.uk/the-nereus-nova-dry-herb-vaporizer/

I coudnt find any info about it so i reached out to the sites CS @ and they were really friendly and informed me straight away that this is a rebrand of the Starlight v2. They also were kind enough to offer me an open box unit for testing purposes ,so i will share my first hand impressions once i get it.
There is pretty detailed info about it on atmans site. They mention it is stainless chamber which is clearly some kind of mistake, but the rest of the info seems legit.

The temp control buttons seem oddly positioned ,i hope there is some lock function.

Honestly it doesnt look bad for 40 quid ,but it doesnt have a changable battery ,no wp adapter and what i am most concerned about is the material of this golden ring.. Anyway it is much better than having shitty plastics or rubber/silicone rings. Kinf of remind of the Focusvape mouthpiece system.Otherwise heatup looks very quick and temp control by the grade is also nice.

Any teflon tape? If so, isolated from the airpath?
I contacted Atman with further questions about parts involved and airpath. At the end if there is no satisfactory anwser i will gut out the free unit that is comming my way and will show you whats inside puffitup style.

Heating chamber looks very similar to the Xmax V2 Pro. The shape also says that an 18650 might just be soldered in. As a low-end vape enthusiast, looking forward to more deets.

Yes there are many with that size of chamber on the market, flowermates are a bit wider i think..The mouthpiece is more like the Focusvape. It should be here by the end of next week according to the shipper,so probably firsthand info comming this weekend. I dont have high hopes with these conduction based vaporizers ,but i am curios about the temp control, i have the tools to even measure if it is real or just preset power settings

I got it yesterday, tried it a few times. First impressions and probably last..
Is very lightweight. There isnt any robot fart,or funky smell to it,but the good things about it end here.
Airflow is very restricted. Temp control isnt realistic. I highly doubt there is a temp probe,it is just preset power settings.
It seems to get up to temp in seconds, but in reality herb need like 30 seconds soak after it gets up to temp so it produces any vapor.
Temps are also far from true, measured them. 200 was 180C... Heater is very weak,it is easily overpowered even with a short inhalation. I tried hooking it to glass, restriction was on par with the dynavap.Vapor production stops after 5-6 seconds and then you have to wait at least 20 seconds to get it going again. Airflow sux due to diameter of the mouthpiece hole beeing damn tiny and also the bottom holes of the ceramic chamber are also tiny.
Unit doesnt registers temp drops when inhaling,so added with the lack of accuracy ,i call it the temp control a joke.
The unit i got was open box,and it already had cracks on the top plate which seems to be plastic, unlike the siding, which is metal. Raises durability issues, but it traveled a lot of distance so it might have been damaged in transport, although i am sure it will crack if you drop it.
Mouthpiece is held by a plastic black body which also has the screen mechanism molded into it. There is no plastic exposed in the airpath,it is all metal. But it is of unknown origin. It is not metalic so it is either aluminum or stainless steel with some kind of anodization.
I can speak of battery life, but i did 3 sessions sofar.I dont think i will do any more though.I dont feel it is worth the trouble, there are far better vapes even in this price range.
Airpath is not insulated from the electronics. I will do a tear done at some point, but i lost interest pretty much from the beggining.

Still wanna thank kronicvapes for providing me with this unit for testing purposes and for being that open and friendly.
For the readers i wanna point out that this is just my snobby point of view .I dont like that vaping tech (ceramic oven) in general.I have tried a lot of models that has it and there are very few that check not having robot fart and delivering proper functions.

Is it really that difficult to mass manufacturer a decent budget vape in China? Amazes me how these keep getting pushed out. Who's buying the units?

I have one of these units and I get pretty good hits of it. I have had a number of dry herb vaporizers and my Nova is up there with the best of them from the ones I have used anyway. I also have an X Max Starry and tI actually prefer the NOVA...

Hey ! Do you have problems with it not keeping up to temp with draws ? Like you dont get vapor at all if you do back to back draws.
Maybe somethings is wrong with the battery of the unit i got ,because it really feels underpowered ,ive had this experience with only other vaporizer it was a quartz chamber CLevea by Airtech.
Also how long after it gets to the set temp you start seeing vapor,i have to wait at least 30-40 seconds after it is supposed to be up to heat.

Maybe you just forgot how to use those weak conduction vapes mate? :brow:

Anything more than a sip every 30 seconds and the thing falls down on its knees...

For how I use it its fine. I dont experience any tempt drop between draws if thats what you mean and as far as the vapor produced I find it quite powerful which is what attracted me to it in the first place. Waiting time for me it's around 5 seconds until i get big vapor but then thats the same roughly as my X Max Starry and most vaporizers in this price bracket from what I have seen.

I guess if your comparing it to something like the Mighty Vaporizer that costs like £250 then of course it won't measure up. I have have a X Max Sturry and I have used a Black Mamba (which was my first vape) and the Nova is definitely BETTER than the Black Mamba in my opinion. I would say its a toss up between the Starry and Nova in terms of performance

Reading your assessment it really does not sound like your using the same vaporizer, maybe you have a faulty one as you said it was an open box model. As I been vaping for a number of years now and I like to think I have a good amount of experience by now.

@420alldayUK Indeed mine was a open box unit which came with drained battery and a crack on top. I have tried so many of vapes with that tech,i would never forget the experience, but i appreciate the joke.@KeroZen
My unit is really underpowered compared to X-max for example ,which i have no problems having thick milky vapor with. Glad you like yours ,design is not bad and also the build itself,if it functioned like the x-max it would be a decent vaporizer.

@420alldayUK Does you unit registers temp drops on the display while taking a hit, cause mine does not ? I wonder if there is any temp sensor or just preset power values.

Just had to pop back to this. I'm sat up waiting for the last episode of game of thrones and using my Nova. Seriously dude you need to get yourself a fully working nova dry herb model as the hits I'm getting are sensational.. Sorry man but this vaporizer deserves much better than your review..
