EDIT- The blue silicone 'slide cover' was my addition. It does not come with the G43. I borrowed it from my Fury 2 to protect the wires and slide.

Though some air does get through that....I would take it off for 2 reasons....#1 its silicone in the air/vapor path. And #2...it is restricting the airflow and probably causing you to raise the temps by using higher wattage. You should be able to get better vapor quicker with more air coming into the top of the G43.

Plus...it is not allowing a full wide path of air and possibly will create hot spots in the heating element section.

Try to find a piece that fits around the glass part....not messing with anything in the entry of the top. To me...it is already more than enough to have the wires coming out of the top. Ideally I wanted to drill holes in the side to put the wires through....but it would need a diff glass slide to do it properly.

I'll KIM the two reasons that you mentioned as negatives to avoid. Air restriction and silicone in the airpath. For the time being I'll keep it on, but a good 10 mm above the slide. It won't affect the airpath, but will prevent crimping over and other undesirable things falling in the airpath. More there for cable protection then anything. I could slide it up more when I PWR on and slide it down when I put it away as well and keep the integrity of that section of cable.

Plus...it is not allowing a full wide path of air and possibly will create hot spots in the heating element section.
Do see what you are getting at with not wanting hot spots. Especially if it was a perfect fit for the slide. It almost was and would have led me to the hot spot problem perhaps.

@LabPong I'm with you on the wire placement and all the pros-cons of where to have the wires come out. With any electronic device the weakest point is where the wires meet and make contact with the hardware. And why I am so overprotective of the wires going into the slide. Already had a few droppsies and don't like the idea of wires getting yanked or jerked around with every mishap. I imagine the wires becoming more crimped due to this over time and hence lowering performance. Plus the wires, I'm guessing, is where the box mod gets it's feedback from as well. And why I got the errors that I did when they occurred. Well back to the junk drawer for more solutions. :science:

@Razshiro , I was wondering if it would be possible for you to post a pic of the G43 using the Elev8r bowl together.

I am on the waiting list for the G43 so I don't have one yet, nor do I have an Elev8R bowl but I wanted to see if the Elev8r bowl was something I should invest in when I get the G43.

The idea of keeping the G43 cleaner by using an outside bowl sounds very cool.

You will not be able to tell anything from seeing a picture of it....besides what it looks like....you have to use it to understand how it works.

Basically, you hand off power of vapor for more taste with the Elev8r bowl. I like using the Elev8r bowl for this reason, it gets me 1 step closer to the Elev8r vape itself (with coil).

But here are pictures of the Eleve8r bowl...and one with a smaller 14/18 adapter bowl I use for small loads or concentrate outside the G slide....mainly keif or hashy stuff. If I do rosin, I use the healthstone inside the G slide and often double decker it with a small load of flower under that health stone...it fits together so there is just a small gap at the top between the healthstone and the upper screen. I warm up the rosin and let it sink into the stone first so I can let the stone fall to the top screen and then load the flower.

Yep, put the herb in the elev8r bowl, use the G43 without the basket screen, same Watt or try to up the wattage if you feel it's necessary; less cleaning, the load is far away, watch the herb (hypnotic sometimes) and enjoy

But here are pictures of the Eleve8r bowl...

Thanks @LabPong for posting, it actually does help to see that first pic, I get it now, how it comes together.

Sorry for my blinders......sometimes I need to realize others do not have the experience or understanding of glass parts when it comes to vaping.....which is more complicated than combusting on average.

Basically....because the bottom of the G43 is a 18mm joint...you can use the G43 in so many different pieces and ways. It is really a cool aspect of this vape being so simple and applicable for different setups and parts......highly customizable on rig setup.

Don't wanna go off topic but I have been going thru the same learning process with my Da Buddha as I recently bought @DDave mod for it and realized I could take various glass pieces from his kit, with existing pieces I had and could figure out how to mix and match them to vary things up.

Pretty cool how glass pieces can go from one vape experience to another.

Appreciate the info, I've been pondering what you guys were talking about with the Eleve8r bowl and I anticipate definitely buying one from 7th floor once I get my G43 (#257 on the list so have some time to wait)

In anticipation of my newly ordered G43 I've made a vapelife logo for my VTC Dual mod. I've seen it on the mods bud's selling. I think it looks cool and wanted it too, so I made it. Here are three slightly different versions if anyone's interested - btw they all have the format 64x40:
uorpp2.bmp
f8xpn6.bmp
tq56m0.bmp
Can't wait to try my G43! Hope it gets to me reasonably fast.

Edit: Made a FC logo as well:

Cool Tom...thanks.

What software can I use to edit my mod with them? I did not see a way with NFE tools.

@tom2199 - I made that bmp logo for Bud, but yours look better, damnit . Mine was 446 bytes, used pixel paint feature of Paint 3D freeware. One error I noticed in your post about the size: Should be 64 x 48. Google search will lead to 3 year old reddit posts discussing the incorrect 40 height number

@LabPong - Pretty sure Hazel will give you instructions for loading logo, maybe send you the bmp file. I consider it their property now, so don't feel comfy sending it myself

Thanks! I think Joyetech mods use 64x40 and Wismec mods use 64x48. But I'm gonna try 64x48 on my mod today when i'm back home. I've changed the ones I made a little bit (made the logo use the whole available space):

najquv.bmp
fwsn8p.bmp

And I've made 64x48 logos as well:

You can try to use the software from the manufacturer, im my case it would be this. There's a button called LOGO which flashes the .bmp to the mod. I'm pretty sure there are other ways as well but I don't know them.

Good deal...got my VTC Dual and Primo Mini all set up now... Thanks for your help!

Choo bro....no offense...but I do not think Bud would care, actually he would probably be happy I converted my non VC G43 mod to a full compliant VC G43 mod! haaa

Also, I don't think has a registered trademark? I never asked him if he applied for one yet. He should obviously. (I'm someone that has owned and maintained one for a long time).

Does anyone know if @VCBud has stated the possibility or intention to roll out a 14mm native G43 somewhere down the road? I think that after initial demand is met and Bud is able to hand off the bulk of manufacturing to his minions, a 14mm version would be a popular option for many customers.

I know lots of vaporist folks that don’t have any 18mm glass and don’t really like the 18f/14m adapter solution, which adds more height and bulk to the setup. Or at least would prefer a native 14mm option. If @Oregonglassblower is making the glass part then he can definitely make both sizes and after lots of testing, I’ve never found any noticeable increase in restriction going from 18mm to 14mm.

Is there any reason that I’ve missed or benefit in going with an 18mm joint with the G43? I don’t closely monitor all of the other VCBud outlets so there might very well be something he’s said that I’m ignorant about. Also want to say this isn’t a criticism of G43 or its maker, I’m just curious & wondering whilst I wait for my number to be called. Y’all know how it is, when you don’t have it yet, it’s all you think about.

Another couple of Qs I’m curious about, for the real world G43 owners:
Do you have plenty of 18mm glass or is the adapter your solution?
If it’s the adapter all day for ya, is it a bother or no big deal?

I like the idea of using the Elev8r bowl, really makes the G43 even more similar to the Glass Symphony XLR.

Correct me if I'm wrong but it's 18mm female to 14mm male? All my glass is 18mm female. Guess I must use it with another adapter or does anyone make something similar that's just 18/18?

Also it seems there is an Elev8r all glass bowl, uses a glass screen instead of metal mesh. Would love to find something like that in an 18/18 config as well

If you use it conventional, the bowl size is quite large. It is larger that an entire ELB, for that matter. I've never over roasted a bowl with the G either.
As far as a 14mm option. Well the inside dimension and airflow will be altered I figure. Would you still want the same size oven, just a 14mm socket and basket screen? or would you want the oven design to perhaps be more suited for the 14mn?
Just my preference, I find 18mm better for vaping from a powerhouse vape. Less restriction. Some consider 14mm more for dabbing. Fortunately the G works as a slide, so that means more possibilities when considering your glass setup.

I think a splinter cross bred with the G43 would be the next logical step instead of say a portable or 14mm version. Or an AC version. :brow: The normal G works with the Mod already. Just have the bead arrangement above the Mod like a splinter.

I have the same matrix perc rig and Y adapter that Bud has. All my rigs are 18mm or 10mm. Have a junk drawer of odd pieces. :science:

I usually use a 14/18 adapter with a 14mm long MP that was meant for a small rig. Here it is in an earlier post. What adapter/MP combo I use does seem to have an impact on draw strength.

Bud actually did make a prototype 14mm version....but it did not work well....too small of area to make a good heater in with the glass rod and balls. Also was an issue with figuring out wiring and coil....to get proper resistance and make the heater stable with 1 cell voltage and watt settings. Mod could not adjust enough for that and Bud did not want to go further to figure it out as it would be very different that the G43 18mm slide version.

As for what size joints..... 18mm 14mm 10mm The G43 comes as a 18mm male end that you can put in any 18mm female joint. The connections can go from there with adapters to fit to your rig.

The glass screen bowls from 7th Floor for the Elev8r and the almost same looking one that NewVape uses for flower pots......SUCK lol Really....bad design as they clog up and are not free flowing enough...and little bits still get through the. You are much much better off getting the normal glass with metal screen Elev8r bowl. It is almost all I use with Elev8r, G43, and FP..when I used it. Plus....I doubt you can taste any difference...believe me...I am one of the most taste sensitive people with it comes to MJ Vapor.

Just got my hands on the G last night....so far all I can say is that it’s everything I expected. A little scary for some of us who are clumsy and risk the burn from handling hot glass... But a beast nonetheless :science:

I had this same issue, and it is related to the software of this particular model. You can find the fix on github.I had this same problem and FJ added it to his software. I will try to dig it up and send you the link.

Please elaborate. I have an RX300 that drained batteries whether in use or totally off. I would like to find a fix/use for it (besides paperweight).

Well you can ask FJ about it ,my laptop got stolen so i cant really share the file.It also is not an easy task to dig it up from the numerous not very short conversations i've had with FJ .
Here is the the problem described and the fix. You can ask him to add it to the latest version of his software ,the version i had with it didnt even had eco levels.

Calm Consistency
Hey guys,

Just got my G43, really loving it but there is a main problem I'm dealing with. I keep getting "Device too hot" popping up right around the 3 minute mark. Basically as soon as I'd expect it to be at temp, it says device too hot. The mod is not hot, the batteries are not hot, and the 510 connector is not hot. Not sure why it is giving me that message. Nothing about the device is actually hot except the part that is supposed to be hot. After about 5 seconds it will let me start firing again, but no more than 20 seconds at that point will it pop back up again...so it basically lets me hover right around vaping temp but not with the device consistently running, need to constantly start stop start stop.

Any tips?
