Every time I start to get enough Keif built up to notice I drop the grinder and it goes all over the floor, so now I would rather have a little bit in my herb then a lot on the floor

Not wanting kief in one's bud is kind of like not wanting to get wet in the shower.

I thought I wanted a four piece grinder. I was pretty well convinced.

It IS kinda fun to watch a bunch of kief build-up, and then use it in some creative way to increase your... well... creativity.

BUT...

As has been said, is there ever a time I would actively choose to split off some of the potency of my flower for later, and use less potent flower now so I can have a small amount of concentrated flower later? No... It sounds silly to me to even suggest such a thing.

I used to think the same but if you use a kief catcher/4 piece grinder, you'll not notice any lessening of potency or effects. None. It's such a miniscule amount, just like taking away a 5% of your daily amount of salt, and putting it away.

So months later, you have a lot of this kief that is mega potent. Just like drops of water, it adds up, but its absence isn't noticeable on its own

Or think of it as a mini-savings account. Putting 25 cents a day away. Sure it'd be nice if the 25 cents was in your pocket, but do you cry at night that 25 cents is gone each day? Then when you go to take it out, it's no longer just 25 cents. It's worth more than it once was

My review is still coming...
I have been torture testing mine for the past few months and have not cleaned it once.
Thought I would do a hard used grinder as my review platform and not just after a few grinds.

It has seen some of the top Canadian buds, most of these are super sticky and dense buds.
Not grinder friendly material.

It still grinds jam free and pretty smooth even with a huge amount of build up on the teeth.
Wanting to see how far I can get without cleaning.
Then a review will be done!

Just as a teaser, it is still my Daily Driver in the grinder department!

I just opened a package for a honeypuff 2.5" grinder and I think I'm ruined on 2" grinders. This thing is so friggin comfortable!

Except I want a 3 piece with a deep dish. And better quality, like the BCG. So I'm SOL for a bit I guess?

Edit: I didn't mean to post this hear but for those who remember, what is BCG planning next;the larger 3 piece or the same size 4 piece?

It sounds like possibly both. There is a 2.8-3 inch grinder in the works, and possibly a screen for both sizes.

There is no time like the present to try a 3-piece. Have you done so before? I was skeptical, but now I'm not sure that I want to use my 4-piece grinders anymore

I think I'm now with the "I want to use all my kief now" crowd.

I personally give @lazylathe huge credit for his consistent shout outs to this awesome BCG in various social media communities. It really did catch my eye through his enthusiasm towards this grinder. And he did this without expectation of pay or reward.

Without his efforts, I don’t believe GFL would’ve been able to hit the ground running. Without him, GFL probably wouldn’t have had the opportunity to come into this thread and receive the design recommendations from experienced vaporists here. I tip my hat to you Lazylathe.

I'm finding the only real difference between 3 and 4 piece is merely the eventual yield quality of scraped kief.

Coming from the best 4 piece for kief harvesting (SLX, grade of SS mesh, and the non-stick surface causes it to be an exceptional kief collection device) - it's not really something I miss too much. Not enough to buy an add on that'll make a bigger/taller shape. I like the squat form of the SLX and BCG.

I tried to illustrate earlier that I am still collecting kief with my BCG.
Potency isn't really affected by going from 4 to 3 piece. You still lose a deposit of trichomes that adhere to any exposed surface. The ceramic on the SLX actively repels this and directs it to the catchment. The BCG just selects the nicest, stickiest crystals to settle on its smooth anodised surfaces. It's not difficult to scrape this up for a kief bomb.

All you miss out on is the potential to harvest great quantities. I rarely did this, and only ever thought about pressing pucks, but it never lasted long enough to actually do it. I've dipped my dabs in kief, had full bowls of kief, I've melted it and vaped the resultant goo. It's wonderful stuff.
But, with the BCG, I still have as much viability as when I had my SLX to do all that to about the same extent.

After some time the fine mesh in the SLX becomes clogged and the experience then becomes even more on par. You still have to make an effort to scrape up that last bowl, and it'll be basically the same fine powerful dust from the top of the fine mesh screen, or from the base of the donut BCG chamber.

Hey @Grinders for Life is it possible to get colors other then the 8 on the website? The purple, red or orange for instance? Or are they just for testing atm?

I am having a hard time choosing colors. I think I want sapphire for the top and bottom. I really like emerald and wanted to choose it for the bottom to go with a sapphire top. You know, green storage to store my green . But depending on my plate color choices having both sapphire looks better to my eyes. Sky blue for instance seems to fit better between a sapphire sandwich rather then a sapphire top and emerald bottom. At least with my phone Photoshop skills. Purple would really nice I think too, or red or orange. I'm not afraid a colour, it's more fun.

I went back to check my old Zeus 2"/54mm grinder compared to the new Honeypuff 2-½"/63mm (similar to the Lift) and although I said a week ago I couldn't buy a smaller grinder due to how comfortable a larger one is, I was wrong. It wasn't the size that threw me off I it was the resistance. My old Zeus feels glued by comparison and I automatically blamed the size. Or maybe I'm just justifying a BCG, either way I have one ordered hopefully today.

I thought I had it all figured out previously - but ended up buying a combo I had not considered (thanks @MoltenTiger for the blue on blue pic) before scrolling back through this thread. Top, bottom and medium plate will be sapphire with sky blue fine and coarse plates.

Yeah @MoltenTiger convinced me on the sapphire blue, sky blue combo when it was one of the last combos I had considered. It's looks amazing. My middle plates are narrowed down to sky blue and then either sapphire, emerald, gold or possibly silver/hematite.

...one thing i've noticed about the bcg is i have not gotten any build up yet on the top inner and outer lips where it spins... the odd time i'll have a chunk of bud there but i brush/blow it away and gtg... nothing like other grinders i've used before...

We designed it so no buildup occurs on top's outside wall and the middle's inside wall. This is what causes most of the restriction in other grinders. With our grinder, you don't need to reef and power your way through your herb. It just works.

All the color options are great but definitely don't make it easy, especially with more to come apparently? I really like those two colors and I guess the sandwhich makes sense, but it does look pretty good to get three different colors:

Is the purple a future release? It doesn't show as an option at this time. 10% of is nice; but, purple is nicer. At least to me.

It looks pretty simlar to wavy's prototype purple one.

We did discuss color in dm and he did say he would try get a deeper purple more akin to that on a Davinci Miqro but came back similar to wavy's I'd say from the PIC.
