Discontinued G43 and SledGhammer

I have a feeling that different units might perform differently at the same power settings

Well, yes....depending on the resistance of the path (wires, heating coil, connectors..like that, yeah?).

So, Bud has a target on resistance....what @ohmygodimsohigh has at .86 ohms is kind of right in the heart of where they should be....so, it sure stumps me.

Its a first Troy...you have gone where no man has gone before...you combusted the G43! haha

One thing to check is your mod set up and in particular if you had the resistance locked....and no, I don't screw with the MyEvic firmware too much but you can either let the device detect resistance or you can lock it to a value.

That's all I can think of...oh, and leave a little space in there.

Now, I don't believe anybody I know has packed the load in the G43. Just scoop it in and close it up with the basket screen. Did you perhaps pack it tight....but even then, I just can't understand it igniting from the far end.

Have a great day, guys.

I would still expect the screens at the heater end to be much hotter than the loading end.
Yes, I expect they would be too. But if they're not in contact with the flower then it's not so much of an issue. When I pull hard on the G all the flower piles up at the top-hat end, leaving a small gap between the heater end screens and the flower.

Like you say, maybe we'll never know!

You can clearly see, he’s puffing and huffing like it’s a tobacco pipe.
Many vapes tend to combust, if I puff and huff like a joint.
Puff & huff , could ignite ABV dust, going up the heater, and come down fiercely, combusting the load, on the way down while inhaling, IMO.
Any convection or conduction vapes, during my usage, don’t agree with puffing and huffing.
IMO puffing and huffing in vapes, means extra cleaning no needed.
Sending cooled down vapor, plus your own fetid, upper respiratory tract entrapped air, and water vapor, plus all your mouth bacteria, and else, back through the stem, into your herb, and into the vape bowl and heater, and else.............???????????
NO THANKS. JAJAJAJAJAJA
Even more, when you heat soak the G for minutes, at past 12W, and then you crank it even more.
And you keep pushing it.
Too big of a load too.
No wonder it combusted.
I had a very charred close encounter once, but never combusted.
I learnt that the G, benefits from some water filtration.
Like the GS, for that extra torque, and avoid that very open airflow, which imo & e affects the density and speed of the cloud production.

Troy mentioned late last night that the combustion happened after he had done several sessions in a row...but he didn't mention how much time between the sessions...but it sounded like it was pretty close.

So with him puffing on it hard and having many sessions.....it would seem viable that combustion could happen after being on and hot for an extended period....and switching out batteries as well.

I think you're trying way too hard to see something different...

I’m not trying to point anything out.
I’m just expressing my opinion, in something that can and could have been avoided.
If you try enough, any vape will kind of charr, or combust.
I always try NOT to combust, during vaping, it really tastes bad.
I really like Js, by the way.
Seems like last G stream at IG went well, with the ELeV8 bowl, recreating GS bowl, or any kind of different Female bowl, that accepts an 18M heater.

Let’s thanks, the many people before us, that had clever ideas, to optimize vaping experiences.

So, @Summer gave me access to links of the two G43 streams that Troy did. I did watch most of the first one...his first session with the G43 but I didn't see a combustion event????

I viewed just a bit of the second vid and Troy opened it with the fact that at the end of his draw during the previous evening, he got a little bit of combustion down by the basket screen. Since this was his only combustion event, which could not to be reproduced if I understand Troy correctly, so I assume it was in the first stream but dang if I can find it.

Maybe I just missed it, but I didn't see any combustion. Anybody have a time stamp for this???

I did see Troy use the 18 mm J-hook and yes, he did take two VERY small cigar puffs to start off the draw.

In no way do I personally see these two little puffs as having any impact at all. I think this is particularly true as the G43 likes for you to pull as hard as you can and those little cigar puffs were, IMO, nada.

I suck on it like a Hoover and I find that this does give the best performance if you are looking for hard hitting.

I enjoyed Troy's IG stream vid....I have not seen a LS of his before.

Troy 2-3 hours of sleep per night is NOT good mate....make time for sleep. You will be much happier :rockon::science:

Thanks!! My sleep habit has been 3 hours of sleep per night, plus a 2 hour nap on *most* days. Although the 2 hour nap often turns into a 45 minute nap. Probably not enough, I know...

The livestream with the combustion event was on a Sunday and I was wearing a black polo with a green logo (not 420vapezone). I don't have the full video, but I have the actual scene of combustion.
I can't imagine a valid scientific reason that my "different" usage would cause the combustion.

I think it was an anomaly caused by the battery swap (made the device run hotter at 12.1 than usual)
And a very full load and a not-so-clean screen. I only brought it up because the spark/combustion started at the rimmed screen.

I haven't been able to make it combust again, but I've had a wonderful time trying!
The G43 remains on my desk and last night I used it with the Elev8r bowl, per @LabPong

WOWWWWWWWWWWWW
I will be streaming it this way again today or tonight for sure because it RIPS and it's so quick and easy to stir.

IIRC you only bumped it up .3w (from 11.8 to 12.1). That's not a big jump IMO.

:hmm:

:peace:

Technically, yes. You're correct.
However I hadn't done any vaping at 11.8.

All my priors were at 11 and I had bumped to 11.8 for that sesh to see if one hit could cache the bowl.
You joined before the first hit and convinced me to bump it up.

I'm starting to want TWO of these things. Good things come in pairs.

This thing looks extremely rad. Once they're available for more immediate sale I don't think I'll be able to resist. It looks like it'll make an extremely nice setup for taking along when I visit friends. Can't wait to see what people can come up with to make this even better.

:whip: @ohmygodimsohigh Please explain yourself further, how could you combust with any vape.. This is unforgivable rookie mistake, such horrors should even not be on video :zombie:... I dont think Stu should take the fall for it ,it is you who bumbed it up,glad he didnt tell you to jump off a bridge into a river or something.

This is off-topic for this thread. If you want to discuss this further, please open another one.

PS: Troy a rookie? :lol::rofl:
