Yes they are saying it's plastic in the link you posted but I'm still thinking the part you put on your lips is ceramic, if not it's a very hard plastic. Looks very similar to the Starry/Fog mp imho...

This vape continue to stink and it's pretty annoying, clouds production is not very impressive and I'm thinking I'm done with it cause this bad taste is the sign of unhealthy fumes. Even at a lower price a vaporizer unable to give tasty hits and decent clouds doesn't brings any interest despite a good battery life and a rather solid building quality.

Please don't waste your money for this vape, one of the worst I tested for sure! The cheap Avant is better both in taste and clouds!

Having second thoughts today if I jumped-the-gun on the SeshGear... It was sort of an impulse buy, partially fueled by the Alternate I'm not using yet due to the robo-fart.

I typically don't even consider a device with pre-sets instead of full temp control. It was the mention of it in Meach's post that made it sink in:

And I thought... well the Alternate already has full temp control and a swap-able battery! So why do I need this vape that will also have robo fart smell???!!!

In hindsight I should have got the Grindhouse Shift first (Fury etc.) Then I would have a mini portable for on-the-go instead of two same-size vapes. But I'll see how this Vega works out. I'll probably still get the Shift in a few weeks, I'm pretty sure it has full temp control.

Not sure what type of coil/element the Alternate has but the smell isn't oil, it's definitely "circuit board" aka robo-fart, with a little melting plastic added in.

But at this point I'm seeing all these sub-$100 vapes (and their more expensive multi-branded brethren) will have the smell for a while, and seems like a crapshoot as to how long it will last, depending on your level of sensitivity. As others have pondered I also ask myself - where's it coming from if the airpath is isolated? My guess it the airpath is isolated by design, but has air leakage into it somewhere inside the unit.

So your's is PEEK, interesting, I did find the mention of zirconium - PPN said that's what his MP is, so I'm wondering, is one of yours is a beta unit? You both have Fenix 2.0 correct?

The alternate had lots of problems with the lid or mouthpiece or top piece. You can check the thread on here but I think they went through like 3 or 4 versions of that piece and it was because the plastic in it would eventually melt or crack or something. So that might be the taste your getting?

As far as smell in the Fenix mini(sutra mini, grindhouse shift, fury, etc....) And for the 1st Fenix(force, Puri 5, etc....) I think the foam or whatever they pack it in transfers some smell to the vape and it seemed to me that took at least a few days to go away

Hmmm this is quite discouraging, especially sine I'm awaiting one, at least it wasn't expensive. Baffling though why HAL9000 is getting totally opposite results.

At least I bought it on ebay with paypal from a US seller, so if I have to, returning it shouldn't be a problem.

Yeah, I did a full study of the Alternate thread before I bought it! Just purchased mine - so well after the top cap debacle. On mine the odor was definitely coming from the bowl/heater not the top cap.

In a twist of fate I received my Alternate back today from Vivant and the odor that was present before is all but gone! Did 2 burn offs and 2 bowls and the second bowl had excellent flavor right from the first draw!

@PPN
try this:
-put the fenix 2 to 205C
-take a ~ 10 second rip (this should be light vapour)
-take a 15 second rip pulling a bit harder.
If this wont make a very dense vapor, we must be talking about different devices or maybe you have a defective one idk.
The stock mouthpiece is definitely plastic material.

To be honnest I'm bored to give it a try, it produces some clouds, yes, but not so big and they don't last so long (only for 1 cycle) and the factory taste is still omnipresent. but thanks for your help, it's nice if you like it but not my cup of tea. Thanks again.

About the mp I tried a test with a lighter to be sure, if ceramic it will not melt or burn, if plastic I'll get fumes and it will melt I bet... in result the mp wasn't affected by heat at all, no fumes, no deterioration and still hard to the touch just after to remove the flame... it's ceramic for me!

I emailed Fenix and Seshgear about the mouthpiece material, received a reply from Fenix and PPN you are correct:

"Hello, the mouthpiece on the Fenix "Gun Metal" is ceramic, best Regards"

Still awaiting reply from Seshgear but I'm assuming it would be the same.

Got my Seshgear Vega last week and have been trying unsuccessfully to burn off the robofart smell, it’s pretty nasty (no way I’m gonna inhale anything through it) I’ve done about 10 empty burn-offs @ full temp but the odor persists. I couldn’t see how baking herbs in it would make it go away so I didn't. The odor seems to be coming from down inside the unit.

Seshgear never did reply to my email about the mouthpiece, but on the Vega it's plastic for sure, I don’t like it much it feels thin and scratches easy. I suppose a Fenix 2 MP would fit as an upgrade to a ceramic one. Love the magnetic top but I didn’t care for the alignment tab system, very annoying sometimes taking several attempts to get it set back in properly, maybe once you get used to it but I dunno…

It’s also heavy and uncomfortable to hold, like holding a brick compared to Vivant Alternate.

I’m currently awaiting word from the seller on returning this, not sure what else I'd do with it at this point, hope I don’t lose more than the cost of return shipping.

Here some more feedbacks after I gave it some more tries:

- it looks like the robot fart is more present while using the device at +210°C, not good...
- The good, I was able to improve greatly the vapor production using a screen to keep the load tight on the bottom of the chamber
- It's a shame something pollute the taste cause, if it wasn't the case, it might be a pretty good vaporizer, performances wise at least, cause the design is not my cup of tea and the size is big (if battery life was very good this is wouldn't be an issue but the battery doesn't last very long...)

Hi, @LambsBreath do you think the Alternate mp mights fit the Fenix2.0? maybe with an o-ring or a piece of silicone to get a tight fit... if yes maybe you can order a Mighty/Crafty/Alternate glass mp to replace the original plastic one...

Got mine last Friday and thus far I'm happy with it.

For context, I'm coming from Flowermate Aura units - a simple conduction vape. I've been rotating between two units for 2.5 years and one of their batteries finally died (the other is still going strong). While the maintenance isn't wonderful, for $42 USD ea. from fasttech.com in China (3 week delivery) I feel I've had great value from them. Prior to that, Titans 1 & 2.

Charged it upon receipt until it auto-turned off from charging, then proceeded to burn-off sessions. I set it for 7 minute cycles and ran it for two total. Nice difference in this device is instead of waiting for factory residues to burn off, I blew in the intake of the bottom after the max temp was reached, and repeated this every minute or so. On 2nd cycle I removed the bowl and alternated between blowing into the bottom or at the top every minute approx. I did notice factory fart still for the first use, but next to none the next day.

Nice unit, though a touch heavy. My first convection unit and I'm quite happy about how cool the vapor comes out. Looking forward to less maintenance; I expect emptying out the bowl at the end of a session to be much nicer than working it out of a cold chamber, and being able to remove the bowl is encouraging.

PPN noted above adding a screen under the bowl; would this not increase conduction to the bottom of the bowl? May try, but happy as-is. Doing 3 7min cycles to fully spend a bowl, but possible less is needed to get everything - will dial in over time.

I just bought a Fenix 2.0 because my Focus Adventurer is in repairment.
My piece seems more recent and includes the ceramic-zirconium mouthpiece and no weed leaf logo under it.
I'm currently doing a few burnoffs, the factory smell is starting to come off but only after maybe 8-10 cycles of 7 minutes each.
This vape is very well designed, I hope it keeps its promesses.
Cheers from France guys !

Edit : This things rip ! I usually vape at around 210-215 °C, but this one is much more efficient that what I'm used to, I can finally vape under 205°C with the same feeling that I had when I was a smoker. I'm vaping through my mflb orbiter right now and it's delightful.

Hi guys, I want to update my experience with the Fenix 2.0. I felt there was some potential so I didn't gave up.

I mentionned I wasn't satisfied about vapor production, factory "plastic" taste, battery life and design.

I was able to get a great vapor production using a screen on the top of my load, load is 1/4 of bowl size well packed. If not well packed and only loosen in the bowl the vapor production is not good, using a tight pack and a screen to keep the load in place helps a lot for efficiency and vapor production.

Sadly factory bad taste didn't totally disappear, it is not huge now but still discernable imo. It's a shame cause it might taste very good !

Battery life is shorter than expected considering unit's size but not really a cons since you can get at least 12 cycles (it depends the temp selected).

Design is only about personnal preferences... not my cup of tea.

So, finally there is some potential and I can enjoy it but I don't think it's a vape I will recommand cause the following reasons: no replacable battery, cleaning, bad taste. If there wasn't this bad taste issue I would recommand it as a "portable at home"... maybe a third version of the Fenix will fix that issues.

Hi everyone, I'm new to the forum, I'm from Rome, I'm 38 years old and I signed up because unfortunately there are very few or no forums on the subject in Italy. I bought fenix v2 and use it with tobacco. I find it very good but I wanted to ask what the heating element (ceramic, tape, other?) Is like, how it works, because I would like to see if there is no teflon or other material not suitable for health. Has anyone disassembled it? Thank you guys.

hi from austria and sorry for my bad english, i am new to this forum - i dont like forums normaly ;-) but since i started vaping 3month ago i read and watched a lot of reviews- and learned much. and i think i saved a lot of money dont buying expensive bad vapes.

for example i own the fenix 2 and after some extra i think this is a nice working machine for only 120 euro.
i bought the ceranic mp - much better then the plastic one
i bought an quartzglass ovenchamber - much better taste and brings some conduction to the game.
and for my microdosing i put some spacer on top of the very small load (0,05) i use the top of the dosing capsuel. i have to search for a glass spacer in the right size.
and with the connection (whip) to my wp this makes nice clouds

does anybody know some more improvement for this vape?
please let me know
