Discontinued Ghost MV1

Okay, the introduction of “F1” as a term of TEMPERATURE is muddying the waters:
either let’s agree to REPLACE Ghost’s references to lights and numbers, or let us NOT USE ‘F#’ when referring to the MV1’s settings

I would prefer that we drop it (F#) please! It’s much more fun when we’re working with common, commonly- understood terms.

Ok, so, on the app, it goes as follows:

L
M
H
F1-custom setting
F2-custom setting #2
C-Concentrate

I am using the F1(or #1) setting? So, would that be #1? The temp reads 415 degrees. It takes at least 3 pulls to finally get any vapor. I know this seems confusing but, this is the only way I know how to explain it "easy".

@Ripstar - how does the same weed perform in your Evo? Let's get that variable out of the way. If it vapes fine there, my first guess is you could draw stronger on the MV1. It sounds like it's working, but not quickly enough, so it could be you're drawing too slowly to get heat in there quickly enough for thick vapor before the third pull. Just a thought, but that's where I'd start playing.

Sounds like Ghost themselves have multiplied entities, then. Odd. Need to get something in mine so my experience multiplies....

Is it safe to install and connect to the app or is there still a chance it will brick the vape?

iOS app is safe to install on a 6s and almost certainly other and newer models.
Android, I have no idea at all

With my evo, on my first hit, I can typically pull a fantastic cloud. But, putting it in this perspective makes sense. And I am wondering about my draw strength. I think it should be the same though....

Recently I've been using the mv1 with no mouthpiece(saw this suggested way back at the start of the thread but didn't try it at the time of reading). I find it way less finicky and more consistent. Resulting in heavier/thicker draws and greater effects(back to my theory of the heatsink components hoggin all the goodies via reclaim caches/pools). Also, seems to extract more evenly/thoroughly = minimal to no stirring needed. Guessing due to a tighter seal being created.

Tried the no mouthpiece approach last night and the first hit on a new crucible felt more productive. As the session wore on I found myself missing the mouthpiece. I need to test this further.

If you're putting the ELB in and then waiting for the Evo to reach temp you may be getting some help by some residual heat soaking because of how long the Evo takes to reach temp. The way I use the Evo is by setting temp to max and once max temp is reached I lower the temp to 12 o'clock for the hits so I'm allowing the herb to heat soak a bit which would help that first draw to be cloudy.

With the Ghost I feel the first few seconds on that first draw is also heat soaking the herb so the first draw isn't as cloudy as the second and so forth. But....After that first draw it gets pretty cloudy around here. I'm with @stickstones on the draw strength as well. Too slow on the first hit and it may take longer to condition the herb heat wise.

In the app these settings are labelled as follows

L - 1 Amber
M - 2 Amber
H - 3 Amber
F1 - 1 Red
F2 - 2 Red
C (concentrates) - 3 red ONLY TO BE USED WITH CONCENTRATES.

I would agree and use as much info to clarify things.

I've been using the app with an iPhone 4s which was loaned to me by a friend. It seems to work fine for me. For now. I can even change batteries and click the app to reconnect the vape - couldn't do this on my androids. One time took a few attempts but I've had 3 or 4 days without having to remove and re-pair my vapes to this app

@ClearBlueLou Sorry. I missed your question regarding the tubing. I'll try find what I purchased and check back in.

I've been working long shifts but want to do some videos. Going to try and do some over the weekend. If anyone has anything they want me to go over let me know.

@Ripstar, my 1st unit ran on the cool side & was only putting out negligible vapor. I was able to improve it by increasing the calibration as referenced above. It sounds to me like your unit may very well have an issue. My suggestion to you is to open up a warranty ticket on GV's website. Let GV CS walk you through it.

Only other vape I've used that's as tasty as the first hit on low temp from the MV1 is the Milaana. This thing is awesome. It's like a metal automatic Milaana.

Bowl after 3 hits on 356 and 1 hit on 375, no stirring. Every hit has produced an extremely tasty large cloud so far.

This is what I am leaning towards. Setting "H" produces no vapor(sometimes I will get vapor after pull 5-8), when it's switched to "1 red" it will produce but only if I pull back on the stem with my lips to create tension on my draw.

Got replacement unit .....beautiful again....also got another surprise.....they allowed.me.to keep.all the accessories that can with both.boxes and the battery and heat.sink from unit I am returning....now I'm super set .....three heatsinks, three batteries, some extra stems and seals....Let 's get:leaf:

Thanks @ghostvapesofficial for all your help.....awesome CS!

One thing I did when I was finding my feet was put some silicone tube- about half inch around the stem so I was making a sort of stabilizer (Think it was whip from extreme q or similar replacement. The stem wouldn't go in any more but it could come out if I wanted it to. The stem sat flat on the heatsink.

WOW!!!!Thanks for tip......I used a Da buddha whip.cut it into.two sizes.... i.like to hit mv1 at about 1/2 extended out also did.3/4 which is second favorite setting for stem...no weeble no wobble lol.....but for real try it out......

Hey everyone,

First time posting in this thread. I've had the Ghost for about a month now and love it. I have one problem I was hoping to get some advice on.

I have an SLX grinder that I got based on some recommendations I read online because it is apparently a good size grind for the vape.

While it is better than my old grinder I still finish a bowl with a good amount of green/very light brown left in it. I try to continue to hit it on the highest temp but for whatever reason that heat never makes it through the whole bowl. I never stir it which I know would solve the problem, but I am lazy and also just want to figure out if others have similar experiences so I can isolate where the problem is: either how I pack it, how the grind is, how I am hitting it, etc.

When I pack it I usually pour it into the crucible and just wipe off the over filled weed. I don't really press down firmly because I want the air to circulate.

I want to use this vape in the laziest/most efficient way possible where I can fully cash the bowl without stirring (because who likes stirring?)

Thanks

Is your product fully dry? Sticky and or fresh product needs to be ground and put on a piece of paper to absorb moisture for at least 30 minutes ......longer the better I have found

It is dry but maybe not as dry as it needs to be. My last vape was a Solo and never had that problem but I know the Ghost is a different beast. If you haven't experienced what I am experiencing then that must have something to do with it. Thanks for the tip I will try that out and let you know if it helps.

I've had the same issue with greenish/light brown, but when putting it into another vaporizer there is not much left.

I think, and I could be way off on this, but maybe convection doesn't brown the product as much?
I know all my conduction vapes were always brown, but that is direct contact with heat.
Convection might be different. Like cooking in a microwave versus an conventional oven?

I end up making butter out of my ABV anyway, so I don't worry too much.

I'm kinda in the same situation. I still get green specs. I don't worry too much. Yes I could stir but I feel satisfied with the extraction regardless so don't worry about it too much.

I hardly use the cricibles as stock though, usually micro dose with a liquid pad on top. Stirring is awkward as the pads are a tight fit but when I'm using 0.03g at a time I just grab another crucible. I really feel that less is more with the ghost.

I know I am an anxious fuck so I worry about these small things that don't really amount to much.

Interesting idea using the liquid pad on top and small doses. Will have to try that out too. Maybe a domed screen could work too although that would really be overkill especially on a convection vape.

I am not an expert on the physics of what goes on either but I have an HerbalAire vape which is like the king of convection vapes as far as I am concerned and you literally don't even need to grind it. They tell you to smash whole un-ground buds in the chamber, the more jammed the better. And it gets every single speck of green out of it. When I break the vaped buds down after, it is completely brown. Convection should be the most thorough form of heating.

You’re right on the money. Convection-only heating leaves a light to medium color. Darker is usually from another heat transfer, like conduction or radiation. At least within the temperatures we are operating at.

There’s a decent amount of conduction going on in there, especially if things are left to soak for a bit. Fantastic and under appreciated vape, btw. Love that you have one!
