What box mod are you using / recommending for on-demand convection 510 vapes?

FJ = Tubo, but it is only supported by a few specific mods not including the two you listed. Will have to go with myevic, I don't know if it is supported on the RX2 or not. Can cruise in Watts or TC, but TC takes some configuring if not a DNA mod
  • "Can cruise in Watts or TC"
Thanks! myevic will cruise in both modes, now we're getting somewhere! (sorry this is so confusing to me!)

  • "but TC takes some configuring if not a DNA mod"
Also bit confused on this, since you said a few posts back "No cruise or autofire with any DNA mods"

Also, it appears both mods are now supported by FJ/Tubo...
RX2/3 are included on the Lamart/Tubo site:

EDIT: Just found there's a RX2/3 mod, (thought it meant RX2 & Gen3 )
So I guess they're not supported in FJ/Tubo

Pretty sure Tubo does cruise in both TC and power?

Correct, not supported, but tubo does both and so does myevic. No cruise on dna mods but better tc (must play around for tubo and myevic to get tc, I have not had success yet so use dna for temps)

So all this is pretty confusing to me too, I'm not an ecig guy. I posted on the z thread that I had a VooPoo Too and it was lacking. I had asked Antispleen, a general RBT guy who posts a lot on IG, what his fave box mod is and he said evic vtwo dual, which is great cuz that is basically the double battery version of the tubo if I'm not mistaken. I got one for $28 off ebay a week or so ago. I uploaded tubomyevic last night and this thing punches so much better then the voopoo thing. Thick, tasty, fast clouds. Makes me curious about the lost vape mods now of course.

Cruise is a tubo software feature (that does not work on dna mods?), it can be set to X number of seconds. I like to set mine for 5 minutes so I can hit at my leisure and you can hit the fire button to turn it off whenever. I find on either the on demand works just as well though. I have no input to offer on dna mods as I have been researching that like you.

My couple questions:
DNA mods have no auto-shutoff timer, like the 10 seconds on the voopoo?

What is replay on a box mod? Is it somehow different from the autofire that @Shit Snacks mentioned?

Edit for ridiculous formatting.

Just curious- I've bought a few mods and find that I really like the p80. I use it mostly and sometimes the evic. It seems to do everything I would want with my splinters. What would be the advantages, if any, of the dna mods.

Replay is on the DNA C models, and it just allows you to use the settings you liked before. Autofire is similar to cruise, but is in surmyevic and can only be set up to 25 seconds or infinity (also goes on when you click the button once, as opposed to being able to change it to whatever you want with cruise in tubo firmware). I am not sure if there is a cut off timer on my DNA mod, I haven't hit a cutoff so that means if so its pretty long at least 20sec with Herbie's firmware.

The advantage with a DNA mod is the easy accurate temp control. Using wattage only, it doesn't really matter. You can use stock firmwares or get tubo/myevic to cruise/autofire. If you want TC in any of these mods and softwares you must play around with the resistance and TCR values to basically guess test for yourself what feels like accurate temps. FJ's software was designed for Tubo heater, so stock it is not configured for Splinter or any other vape, while myevic was designed for ecig use... DNA can be customized for our use

Damn you @Shit Snacks. Now I have to start buying mods to try out too? I was just enjoying how much better this is than the voopoo and you say the dna dials it in huh.

Craziest thing to me. When I uploaded the tubo software to the vtc dual I didnt set the resistance or settings or anything. I tried to as I am very familiar with the interface but I am unsure what material the Z is so I wasnt sure what to set. It was automatically in temp mode so I set it to 195c and fired and it set the TUBO coil setting to .408. It sure seems to hit temps pretty well. Just as odd the warmup mode just runs cruise, no 245c for a few seconds. And the eco doesnt run at all, and I have tried 0-3 as settings. On cruise it just cruises around 195c or whatever temp i'm running. I'm feeling like this is going to be a high school car, run it til it dies as I learn my way around these things.

I don't understand mods or what different TC settings mean hardly at all. What I always say is just that my Splinter and Splinter Z heat more evenly and perform better on my DNA250 than on my TC mods or even wattage cruise with FJ on the VTC Dual that I use with my Tubo. My Splinter V1 arrived this weekend and has been dazzling on the DNA as well.

Another question: I read, I think in this thread, that I need a different mod for each vape. I haven't liked a couple of the mods I bought so I'm using the p80 for all my splinters. Same setting for all 3 splinters. Is there any problem with that? Seems to work well.
When I get an iheat it will have the hcigar set up for it so that mod will be only for that vape.

The way you worded this implies that you can use cruise/autofire with DNA mod. From what I've read, you can't?

Yeah so the TCR aka Tubo setting aka M value is set for the Tubo heater not the Splinter. It may feel right to you, but I guess that's why certain things don't work right, and who knows what could happen long-term? I didn't have much success when I tried so went back to watts using the firmware with my Z and haven't tried to set up TC for myevic yet.

Using one mod per vape was to protect the 510 connections (on both mod and vape I presume) so why not buy a few more P80s since you seem to enjoy it! Can even try myevic on one and arctic fox on another aside from stock firmware on the one you have to make it complex lol

Yes, you cannot. Haha I've said it so many times in different ways that it keeps getting confusing. There I was moving on to talk about other non dna mods and their firmware options. So:

DNA = better accurate temp control on demand, FC firmware available with profiles for each vape set up for you

Tubo = cruise and lot of other features designed for tubo vaping, but could be played with to set up for another vape, power mode watts will always work fine

SurMyEvic = autofire and other features designed for ecig use, can be tweaked like tubo to adjust settings for any vape, power mode watts will always work fine

Is a dna75c just as good since our Splinters et al only need 60 and under? Is there any reason to pay more for a DNA250c other than looks and availability of various models?

Paranormal 250C for $100 after discount code 2019:

https://www.sourcemore.com/catalogsearch/result/?q=lost+vape+paranormal

Not a US store but unlike some other options around this price the seller does have some models that don't have the "pearl fish" leather that looks like a skin condition.

@Grifo, was it you that wanted the nudge when I found a dna250c deal or maybe it was @cybrguy?

@almost there, @Easywider, @LambsBreath,
@Shit Snacks, @Hippie

Mentioning all the usual suspects as the site said two or three left on the models I checked.

Thanks for the heads up @bossman

I've not bought from them myself but there's some good prices in their clearance sale by clicking on the banner at the top too

New customer discount coupon SM8OFF

According to their best price guarantee if you find it cheaper and in stock ready for purchase anywhere else they will give you the item for free so it may be worth taking a few mins to check if you're thinking of making an order.

So you haven't been using your HCigar at all yet?
It's kinda killing me that that mod has pretty much everything I want including price (right shape, # on batteries, DNAc chip) but the minimal venting is holding me back. I'm such a wuss sometimes...

One other question for anyone who has this mod. Do 30Q batteries fit in it? I watched a review that said the battery compartment is kinda tight, and I find my 30Qs slightly bigger than other 18650s.

I'm sure there is at least a guy a year that dies with his fork... Not even talking about cars, bikes, cigarettes, fireplaces, doing ski, american football or other sports etc... It would be interesting to know what kind of device he had with what kind of battery... Protected ? "Safe" chemistry ? Maybe not...

Temp control isn't working with those firmwares ? (it's for mistvape IMP and maybe dreamwood glow). Tubo is specialy made for the tubo also with ss coils it should work I guess...
