I think I'll have to get a needle or something and clean out those little ports now... :\

Well you could just worry constantly about it......a popular pass time with some.

OF

Edit: I think we can have some fun with this. For instance the basic hole is round, although angled some. They make tools for cleaning welding torch tips (which get carbon fouled on the inside with use). A little pocket knife like thing with 6 or 8 'blades' each of which is a reamer intended for brass openings. Very gentle.... Perhaps bending the tip a bit for better alignment? IIRC it's square 'dead soft' aluminum wire twisted fairly tight. The corners do the scraping in a spiral. Actually four interlocking spirals? Should do a bang up job if you can get even modest 'stroke' on the in and out action. Exactly to the metal without scratching?

Then again a custom (molded) tip to put on one of those 'canned air' blasters tube tip to seal into the depression outside the port (in the bottom of the bowl) and up against the side wall with something like a pencil eraser with a hole in it. You'd press it into each of the four wells in turn and give it a blast of heroic proportions. Probably send any deposits downward with some enthusiasm...... Better wear your safety glasses until that one is refined I'm thinking.

Hey, what good is a hobby if you don't play sometimes?

Funny you should say that! I thought about using a tip cleaner this morning, but I sold my gas setup long ago and finding the ones I think I have could be challenging. A sewing needle wasn't quite the ticket, but I'll check some old tool boxes after work and see if i can find a tip cleaner.

As the Poles say 'fools seldom differ'. I can't find mine either, and I have two.......

I think the needle would work OK if you heat the end of it to glowing then, while hot, bend the last 1/4 inch or so at about 45 degrees so it can be aimed straight down the bore of the hole.

I'm thinking of taking a file to the tip on my 'Rocket Blaster' to get it to match the port area at the bottom of the bowl. It should seal well enough that most of the 'blast' goes down the port and out the bottom?

If I can bend it like that, it may have to be red hot to burn through the resin in the hole anyway.. If I can find one, I'll try the tip cleaner first.. I know I saw it not too long ago.:myday:

Yep, needles are super hard, for obvious reasons. So therefore brittle. But it's still just Iron when hot enough. Just heat the end (say half an inch?) grab it with pliers and bend it before the pliers cool the metal too much. Very soft, easy to do. The steel will not be as hard as before, unless you 'quench' rather than letting it cool slowly, but plenty strong for us.

Heating is a good option, but not a lot of heat is needed to soften stuff up (surely not 'glowing hot'). Remember to pull it out before it cools to much lest the resin turn to glue......

Or you can revert to the 'screw it, I'm going to enjoy it' plan. I'm not at all sure such stuff it worth a lot of worry sometimes.

Or not.

Not my first choice, but when the Government shut down my Sex Lab I had to find something else to do.

Can you imagine they claimed my equipment was sub standard? IMO mighty judgemental........

Hey OF, how long have you been rocking the solo?..

Quite a while. When the ceramic cups started cracking and Arizer started replacing them @Sinclue loaned me his old one when the replacement came......the rest is history. PIU got my bucks for the first one, and perhaps a dozen that followed? Back when you could get 'open box' (returns) from PIU for $60 or so I bought a bunch, replaced a couple of battery packs and passed them on to friends and friends of friends at (low) cost. Gave a few away to those who didn't have money to spare.

Yeah, I like Solo. Everyone should have one. I have 2 OG Solos (true PA) and two Solo IIs in rotation.....each with a different stem?

Thanks for asking, when did you get your first one?

I got my new Solo from Arizer yesterday and upon inspection I noticed that it had the old version oven (no pockets on the floor of the oven), when I contacted Arizer they told me that the pockets make no difference and that I have the most current. I currently own the NLE, OG and Solo 2 and they all have those pockets. The oven is also held down with plastic barbs in addition to be screwed which is not like the other three. I'm trying to decide whether I should return it and go thru POTV to ensure that I get the latest, or if it really doesn't make a difference.

Does anyone own both the old and new version or can speak from experience whether those pockets do increase air flow or if it is just a PR thing.

Thanks.

I do not have a financial interest in ARISER.
However I must say, “BRAVO “ 4 da SOLO

My old one is still functional 2-day!

Changed battery pack 2X however it’s like new?

NICE JOB ARISER!

Solo bought in December from Puffitup and Air from Arizer ordered in December both have the pockets machined in the oven floor. Since receiving my Solo and Air most my other vapes are just sitting there lookinat me. I actually have been packing tighter to Increase resistance for powerful pulls!

Glad that's working for you, I've been doing just the opposite, packing looser. For my preferred draw speed I found when I packed it to tight it would not last as long and have more of a popcorn taste as my sesh went on than with a looser pack. But hey, whatever works right?!:) I think I'm going to keep the Solo I just got; the rep told me the pockets are "purely aesthetic". I've done the burn offs already and have been aching to try it. Now all I need is the silver one!
