Hey hey everyone, hoping all is well out there. Been in the shop giving it hell as always even had to rewire the shop from the service pole, seems I had a short somewhere in the pipe buried in the ground. All I can think is that I may have nicked it when pushing the pipe over it and thats what done it. Had 240 across one leg and nothing across the other. Lost a couple shop lights when it shorted so I order a 6 pack of 4,000 lumen LED shop lights from amazon at $135 are you kidding. Put them with the other 6 pack I got a bit back and I have so much light in both shops now its crazy bright, I love it! All is good and I got chips flying and making man glitter lol.

Did an interview with Vootra that you all can check out here if you like, was a neat opportunity to get the word out for wood and what I love to do, pls have a look.

The karelian burl and the amboyna have been fun to work. Amboyna is always exciting with its fragrant aroma and beautiful figure its my favorite burl hands down. Have a couple of those left that I will be adding to the site next week. Sold several of them early after getting em and cant believe I still have a couple left. Even have a couple of the Karelian left as well, figure they will both move really quick once they post to the site.

You all know I do live edge from time to time and have this gnarly Maple Burl blank I am going to turn into a WS. This piece is just nasty looking to most but underneath and even at some of the live edge areas I feel its going to be a stunner

Whats your thoughts? I love making magic.

Got alot going on round here and even a trip Spain in March, woot woot! Cant wait to go, meeting up with several heavies in the industry and to meet several long time friends for the first time ever, what a blast it will be. Can you believe I will be hanging out and grilling with @phattpiggie & @Aezhenn just to name a couple.

@fastiron Thats really a nice unit you scored. Cocobolo is by far one of my top favorites to work and like how you described your holding it and doing what you do. I am glad you are finding it to work well and hope its proving to be a solid. WS does not run a resistor, it utilizes a SS sheathed solid ceramic heat cartridge.

@dendamper Hello there and thanks for keeping strong and sticking with me. I havent wanted to say much as I didnt want to jinx it as I have had many many delays in the past. My guy is working on the CE application and doing the papers now for this and hopes to have this done and WS available for sale this month through his site at https://www.vaporisateur.net/ so get over there and tell him to get his butt in gear and lets make this happen! BTW I have family Houliart, its a neat little village I think you would call it.

@sisonpyh Appreciate your kind words and your regiustering here and posting up. FC is a great place and I hope you find a place here for a long time to come. Wow get this I just looked at the date in my little right hand corner of the screen and see its 2019 so that means I have been round here this year for 10 years wow! So there ya go you can see I have made a place and must say it feels like family here always. I have said it many times, I dont like nickle and dimeing anyone to death and dont like it being done to me, it just aint cool.

@sixstringsmash Thanks for stepping up with the advice bro, hope all is well for ya.

@-dab8- Appreciate your posting up too bro and will be in touch with you really soon my man. I am eager to hear what you think and how ya feel.

@Ramahs Haha heck yeah! Bro you really have a sweet rig and stand, I am a heartwood/sapwood contrast kinda guy.

@Stripzest Bro I am sad to hear you didnt stick with it but as you said you let it go. From all the units I sold from BF I had 3 users that seemed to have issues. Had two of them sent back to have me go over and am awaiting the 3rd still. The two were rocking for me and both checked out fine. I know that logs have a bit of a learning curve, I take it for granted as I have been using them for years and have used every log out there in every way they have been made I figure. I see great videos and posts by users who are killing it with em and can see how others can get caught up in those and once in hand arent able to see the same performance and get frustrated and give up on em. I wish you had had a better experience but know that logs arent for everyone. Thanks for letting us know and for the cooperation with it all after the fact.

@LesPlenty Bro I feel you and like how you do. To me I feel its more about technique and finding that with the WS, once you nail that then its ready and ripping at any moment.

@Hollabackatcha I believe you are right.

@Alexis Hope all is well for ya.

@Alex3oe I have one of those little tattoo devices, was my first VVPS for the Zap way back in the day.

@doublerainbow Thats right its just about 2 1/8" at the largest OD overall. I dont know much about glass so cant help in any way for that. Will say that I have added several species back in stock and have the couple of burls to add and will also be adding African Mahogany this week also.

@bizwaxzion Thanks for stepping up with that advice.

@StoneMan You schooled me bro, I dont do glass. I really like the simplicity of the orbitor. It doesnt take a whole lot of room and it just works. I should get one, whats the cost for such a device? Some of the Katalox pieces have a bit of curl in em, when it shows its a neat look.

@slozukimc Good looking rig you got there, I am glad to see you are enjoying it as well. Believe it or not Redwood burl is still one of the least desirable species next to cherry.

Hope I have covered all and wish everyone a great rest of your weekend. Take care!

All this time and I didn't know! Thanks bro!

No problem! I Used a bit of Saran Wrap around the glass to make the wood fit snug and then the tip fits the hole in the wood perfectly.

The stem is just the Ed’s straight tube with Saran Wrap on the end to make an adapter.

I like the Ed’s stem but this is much shorter and looks good too.

Welcome to the family, @slozukimc !
Thanks!

@Ed's TnT l have seen you mention the lack of demand for the redwood burl before. I think it is beautiful and as an added bonus it is super light so I feel safer using it with glass. It’s not likely to tip anything over as the Orbiter is much heavier. Going to get a drop down for it too.

The redwood stem paired with the Ti tip is super light weight.

Thanks again Ed. Nice work!

Just a dude
@slozukimc Buddy I am right there with you on redwood burl, it can be absolutely gorgeous. In fact, all the way back on page one of this very thread Ed posted one of my favourite WS examples* of all time. I don’t know when I might get another but I like the idea of joining you with a redwood burl.

Ed- as far as the Maple Burl blank above, you know that I have BIG faith in what you can do! I suppose after making so many of these, you have the ability to see the WS potential inside a blank, like x-ray vision. But you also gotta have the skills to make it happen and you definitely got those bro! I can hardly wait to see it all spun and done.

EDIT: *last photo on the first post. Now if that doesn’t do something for you, well then, all I have to say is that maybe you didn’t attend enough Grateful Dead shows. :haw: It looks all liquidy & spacey to me :freak:

Super, thanx for the personal reply. Patience is the best sauce! i have registered myself at this website and will send a e-mail for more info since there is no pre-order possible at the webshop. Won't Vaposhop (NL), Vapefiend (UK) or Verdampft Nochmal (DE) distribute the Woodscents? I never ordered from France but had great experiences with the others listed above, mostly Vaposhop. I know a village called Hoeilaart, nice area with some hils and forrests, not too far from where i grew up. For American standards its right around my corner. Keep up the good work: you inspire others to make new things with wood, including me. Grtz from Belgium!

I've been using the Woodscents ti-tip glass beaded stem along with the VVPS for about 5wks and find they go like hand in glove for me. I've always been about lower temps, a flavor chaser if you will, but these 2 items are making higher temps smooth & cool as silk. Clouds are now abundant for me not just the outrageous effects.

Is that the new fumed glass stem? So even without water the vapor is pretty cool?

-dab8- , It is a most powerful & versatile performer. It's heater can make it kiss like a butterfly or hit like a truck. The all-titanium parts make it what you want it to be. I find that with the new Power Supply, that is being offered, WoodScents became one of the top vapes in my collection for heat accuracy and steadiness, you put it on a number and it doesn't roam.
If all else fails, your draw ; your quality; your grind, you must try a little Orbiter, you'll love it with WS.

I have several woodscents which I love, but I’m just now getting the new glass piece.

Haven’t yet tried the new power supply though. Sounds legit!

Honestly, I've never timed it. But it's just a few minutes or less.

On weekdays I tend to unplug it in the morning before I leave for work, then plug it back in when I get home. It's always good to go by time I sit down to use it, but that's usually after 5-10 minutes (not on purpose, that's just how long it takes me to get heavy clothing/shoes off, pour a cold beer, and be ready to relax after arriving home from work for the day). On weekends it stays plugged in 24/hours a day (though, sometimes I'll turn the temp dial down to 5 - 6 when I go to bed or leave the house, and bump it back up to my regular 9 - 9.5 when I get up in the morning/come home because it takes almost no time to get back to temp when it's already mostly there).

So, basically, it's always on when I'm home. So it's instantly useable anytime I want a hit.

Yeah. @Aezhenn does fantastic work. I highly recommend hitting him up for something to hold your vapor tools.

Nah. It's this Mobius Matrix Sidecar knockoff [link removed] from StevenImz79 on DHGate (he sells one without the logo, which is what I have).

Modnote: Edited to remove link to labeled counterfeit glass

^ my apologies. I thought I linked to the one without the counterfeit logo. If I linked to the one with the logo it was definitely an unintentional mistake.

This should be the correct non-counterfeit logo glass I actually meant to link to (hadn't made the mental link that there was a separate link for the ones with and without the counterfeit logo):

As always, appreciate the feedback! That sounds exactly how I would plan on using it, just turn it on when I get home then turn it off before going to bed. I was a little concerned about heat up time, I am used to the Fury 2 which heats up quicker than I can unpack and pack a new bowl but the on demand nature would be even better. I think I read somewhere that to leave it on 24/7 pretty much translates to pennies a day, is that true? I could have jumbled the WS with one of the other half dozen vapes I was looking at when I first started looking into desktops.

I always flip the WPA that came with the Fury 2 around when I store it. I knocked it clean off the counter this way and broke my first one. Might get one of @Aezhenn pieces just for that alone haha.

That piece looks fantastic! Was looking a little bit at dhgate for pieces. Used to have an og SYN years ago but not looking to spend a couple hundred on something like that again. Fine piece, but glass is so much cheaper nowadays. Guessing the flavor is impacted quite a bit through water?

Appreciate that! I also really enjoy the FC community. I love doing research on new items I want to get and knew FC would be a place I would keep coming back to. The knowledge base here is unparalleled and the treatment to new members keeps them coming back.
Congrats on hitting the 10 year mark! That is huge, I think you should do a 10 year WS piece to celebrate :). Maybe that Maple Burl :brow:

Glass is awesome. Art, functionality. It calls to you, you want to feel it, use it. It's very similar to wood in that way. You should definitely get into some cool glass my man.

As far as the orbiter is concerned, I love it. It's about 80 bucks. I bought it when mflb still had the lifetime warranty on the glass, so I kinda use it as my travel rig. Everyone is always super into it every time it comes out, even had a girl try to take it once but that's something else entirely, haha. Here's some functionality. https://ibb.co/mvrsw9w

10.5-10.7, but slip down to 10.3 & up to 10.8 for chuckles.
What are you running your VVPS at?

These power supplies are great but the actual voltage displayed can vary quite a bit from unit to unit. My unit is out by .2 to .3 of a volt (depending on voltage chosen, checked with a multimeter)
I am enjoying 10.8 on my Huon Pine model for 2 bong hits and then 12.1 volts on my Walnut unit for 1 or 2 more hits, these are actual volts checked with a quality multimeter.

@LesPlenty , thanks for the science.I'm no Tesla so I must ask, why do some identical heaters run cooler than others
Mainly wood density and manufacturing tolerances in resistance of the heater used, be it a cartridge heater or resistor. The classic 20 ohm resistor for instance, comes with a +/- 5% tolerance, depending on a given batch/production run. Means, the actual resistance of that heater could be 19 ohm (hotter), 20 ohm (ideal), or even 21 ohm (bit less hot).

ETA: Here's some more info on the effects of wood density. In a nutshell, with denser woods you've a bit more heat loss to the wooden body by conduction.

All good except I am just measuring the voltage at the output side of the vvps's without the log attached, the reason for the differences is a cheap build with cheap parts, which is fine for this application as everyone's use of the log is dialed in after you get to know them and the gear you use in them.
