I'm on my third Crafty. I abused the first 2 using with friends like a joint, always at the highest temperature. This one I have is out of warranty so I'm babysitting it.
Changing the battery out of a new +20% Crafty is a waste of time and money.
You should do it when you notice a drop in functionality.
If you use it, or abuse it, you will notice it doing less and less bowls with a charge over time. You start with 5 and after use it becomes 4, then 3. Then 2.
Changing battery has to be done after this process has taken place.
Thermal fuse and battery are a problem if you only have this vape and want to achieve group use, connect it with glass and using it 100% of the time at its maximum temperature. Doing so you will need to send it in sooner or later, or mod it yourself when the warranty expires.
If you plan to use it A LOT, get a Mighty or even better a Plenty who doesn't rely on battery and will last you many years.

Extended use at higher temps could be an issue since the max temp is 20 degrees lower than most others. Although I'm normally set under 400f.

My understanding is the VTC6 mod will speed up initial heat up time and the vape runs longer and cooler compared to the stock cell. One member who did the mod noted this performance to be an improvement over when it was brand new (older version).

I'm assuming it's because VTC6 is a high current cell and it can better support the demands of the heating element, with this in mind I'm surprised S&B isn't using a high current cell to begin with. (or are they now?)

The diminishing use time per charge would be due to the cell aging and losing capacity. Installing a higher capacity cell from the get go should result in longer run time. So I suppose there could be an advantage to a VTC6 type mod in a new unit (if that's not already the type of cell S&B is using in the upgraded model) it would be tempting however it wouldn't be worth voiding the warranty.

VTC6/HG2/30Q all are 3000mAh, I'm wondering what the mAh is for the new (20% more) cell?

Also curious what the mAh was on the older version.

You can fill the dosing capsules very easy, by some extra,just drop them in thecrafty and your ready. the crafty has 2 temperatuur settings, first to start of second to finish;
, vibrates when ready

New to vaping. I’ve been using flower in my new Crafty. I love the vape, but I’ve been getting ash in my mouth towards the end of my vaping sessions. Can someone tell me what I should be doing differently or if I have a defective vape?

Are you sure it’s ash? Ash shouldn’t be able to made in a Crafty since it doesn’t ever reach combustion temperatures. If it is ash, then I would guess something is wrong with the unit.

On the other hand, if it’s not ash, it’s possibly just little bits of flower that got through the top screen. Some remedies for this could be to not use a fine grinder or to replace the top screen with smaller mesh. I don’t have a Crafty but my Mighty came with an extra screen that had finer mesh than the stock one.

If your Crafty is brand new it’s also possible this problem will fix itself once the inside of the mouthpiece starts to collect reclaim, the fine particles will stick to the insides instead of traveling up into your mouth.

To add to @kuzko ’s excellent advice, you can also put a concentrate pad on top of the herb. I do this on a regular basis and never get particles. (It also keeps cooling unit cleaner for much longer).

Just finished the repair of my Crafty. I had the multi coloured lights on start up which probably means the thermal fuse has blown. Quick search of the web and I found great instructions on how to proceed. Guarantee period was over but Storz were prepared to let me have a new one for Euro 198 but I don't fancy paying 198 for every 80 hours of use.
If you do embark on the repair (only if your guarantee period is over) take many pictures and pay particular attention to the routing of the wires otherwise you may find if very difficult to get the case back to together (I think you can guess how I know this!). For 2 components costing around Euro 1,50 I expect to get another 80 hours of Crafty pleasure. A bought a few spares and the total was still less than the postage.
Thanks to the poster of the instructions easily found with a google search.

Would someone who has both a Crafty and a Ghost mv1 care to comment on why you prefer one over the other?
Mv1 is more potent because of this efficiency is very good it has far better flavour..the crafty will fall apart quickly..
The crafty tastes good for one rip then you get that burnt popcorn taste..

I have owned both crafty and mighty and the Mv1 is better for me by a long chalk

My Crafty is pretty old but still works. I was wondering if the Craftys you buy now heat up any quicker?

The MV1 hits harder and is probably more reliable long-term, but the Crafty is easier to use and keep clean... though the cooling units are kind of a bummer to clean.

Mv1 is super easy to use after u get a hang of the button presses needed to change temps
Loading is a breeze with the crucible
Clean ? This is probably the first vape i got that i can clean completely on the inside, and very easy to do too

U cant change loads while ur outside standing with crafty, but u can with mv1's crucible
If ur craftys battery craps out on u, u gota get a new crafty, mv1? Buy another battery
If ur unit breaks u have a longer warranty than crafty, 5 years, they dont even give u hard time, oh ur unit broke ? We'll send u one right away

Getting shilly in here. The Crafty/Mighty both have dosing capsules for quicker/easier/faster changes than the Ghost. It isn't hard at all to change the common 18650 battery on the Crafty, I even found a local battery shop that sold me a direct replacement battery with new harness ready to plug in. There are lots of guides available and posted as well. My Crafty is over two years old without issue.

Hopefully someone finds a way to replace batteries on the mv1, that would be cool

Having to keep crucibles clean is a total pain though and it’s a constant thing. I feel like with a Crafty at least you can probably push 5-10 hours without really having to do more than brush it out. When I’ve used the MV1 in a party setting people usually have trouble with it, which is not something I’ve experienced with a Crafty. If I’m on my own or with someone who is familiar with it I’d rather use the MV1, unless I have to clean crucibles before using it...

U could always delay crucible cleaning, as long as you dont have any buds between the top section of the crucible where the lid rests on, u dont have to clean for a while, but if u have buds between it, it will take some soaking in iso to get it off, plus a lil scraping

I dont think its hard to hold a button down, wait till it flashes and inhale 15 seconds lol, the best part is u could always come back and hit it if not finishing in one shot

Update: i just took a level 4 hit and im lit lol, coming back later from work to finish it off at 2x level 5
Mv1 is the best portable ive used and i recommend u guys to give it a shot, my da vinci iq is collecting dust but ill whip it out when i wana use conduction style vape

I clean all my vapes every two weeks, they all get gunked up and after cleaning ur airflow becomes much smoother and more vapor, like the first time u used it

Hi guys, I have a out-of-warranty Crafty. I had replaced the thermal fuse several times and it was kinda working good until getting to ~300 hours. Then, performance started to degrade and sometimes it would shutdown without haptic feedback or any leds. It kept getting worse until it wouldn't turn it on anymore, blinking blue leds then turning off. I figured out it was time to replace the original battery (mine was a 3300mah), which I just did for a Sony VTC6. However, it seems it is not charging up. When I press the power button it blinks blue, indicating battery is low. After connecting the usb charger (tried different cables and chargers) it vibrates and flashes the usual green, red and blue, then there is no blinking blue for charging, no leds at all. The app does connect to the unit but shows it is not charging.

Any hints here? Thanks in advance.

After years of use, I finally took a tip from @ChooChooCharlie (though I leave the c/u screen in because I sometimes do a full chamber). Not always convenient, but,
Immediately after use, while still hot, remove capsule and give the outside a wipe with a piece of paper towel. Most of the oils come right off. I catch the capsule with the towel to keep from getting burned. I also lightly wipe across the c/u screen. Those things, and the whole area, stay cleaner, longer. Even if capsules have traveled and gotten a little sticky, I can then use them at home and can wipe it clean. I have other vapes that require a lot less cleaning, but I do also like the mobility and ease of caps.

Others will surely know and offer more, but I believe I read that it's important to install the new battery as fully charged?
