Discontinued Ghost MV1

Summer

Long Island, NY
I use 91% iso. I keep an empty alcohol bottle on hand as I pour the used iso back in the bottle (you can use a funnel) & continue to reuse the liquid until it gets really dirty. Throughout many uses there's only specs of avb floating around in the liquid. Using alcohol can get expensive. And if you leave it soaking overnight you may find that 1/2 of it evaporated.

Unless I'm going out & need to prefill a bunch of crucibles, I only prefill 2 at the start of a day's sessions because 1) I don't vape everyday so the herb would dry out unless I were to put the prefilled crucibles in a storage jar with or without boveda packs & 2) I usually have 2 or 3 strains on hand so I don't want to commit in advance to what strain I want to indulge in. Ah, the pleasure of choice. ;)

I keep a supply of alcohol wipes on hand and just wipe the stainless steel lid after each use. I don't soak everything in iso as frequently. I also wipe down the heat sink when it gets buildup.

I've found the key is proper dryness of bud and proper filling of crucible. I never pack down, I just level on top. My grind is coarse. Ghost folks say air flow is crucial for proper usage of MV1.

I pull pretty fast: MV1 doesn't work well for me with a slow draw: it gets over-heated too fast. The goal is to get the hot vapor into the heat sink fast. The heat sink maximises power efficiency. This is a good short video on how it works: https://www.ghostvapes.com/technology

I had the S&B Crafty, which I was not impressed with at all. My last one was an S&B Plenty, but it used so much bud up and didn't get me anywhere near as high. I just don't understand how this MV1 technology makes it extract so freakin well!!!
Some want FLAVOR with their MEDICINE?
I like the PLENTY and it does use more herb however you need fewer sessions so your consumption is the same. In my case or POV?

The GHOST is like a FIREFLY however I like it’s design.

One day I hope 2 own & use one.

Hi ataxian: I would use a gram in the Plenty bowl, but as I already said, it never got me as high as the MV1 does. I put about .1gm in an MV1 crucible, and if I'm being expecially frisky, I'll go through 4 or 5 of em over the course of an evening. Half a gram and way more high. My experience.

unbearably light in the being....
Mine came Friday, just as I was leaving for work.
Since then, I’ve toasted one crucible and most, I think, of a second.
I find the crucibles to be perfectly adequate, and not hard to load, unload and handle (yeah, based on two loads...and the other six I have filled and waiting). I’ve had no trouble or fumbling during insertion and removal, or with lids when I check the state of my herb.

The news about the counter pressure against the crucible assembly is a big deal: I no longer fear I’ll break off the release latch. I have very strong hands, and I was alarmed at how much pressure I was exerting in trying to release the latch: with my left thumb pressing in on the door, my thumb easily moved the latch. Hooray!

The machine works, but my impression is that it ‘runs cold’. I think I got 5 drags off the first crucible all in one session, before the flavor changed, and my vapage was a uniform light brown - any more and it would have been tossed. I have run thru all the heat settings except 6 and it all seems to be the same; I’m not one who looks for clouds as such, but so far it does *not* hit hard, it barely hits at all, and there’s little to nothing to see on exhale at any setting.

Not to say that it’s had no effect on me, it has...and I understand I need to factor in my personal tolerance, but still, there’s more effect than I’m experiencing in combustion, and I’m only here because I need a real replacement for smoke in my lungs. Quite literally, I placed my order in a feverish state, only (barely) figuratively coughing up both lungs and realizing that my lungs could take no more. I’m here because I reached out in fever and in crisis, and just happened to have $300 I didn’t already need desperately for something. (No pressure...)

Mouthpiece adjustments have made no difference, I have no reason to think the app is having any effect much, which doesn’t mean the app is broken. I am perfectly willing to accept that I’m mishandling the device or process and amend my ways.

Sorry for my absence, got hit with a bad flu.
Still feeling lazy so,
Here it goes:
1) First and most important. Ghost Vapes CS team is absolutely the best. Over the years I've dealt with most of them, in one form or another. None compare.
This is evidenced by the fact that I'm getting #4 any day now. All in about a month. They've earned my trust with their rapid response to issues. Even repeated ones. Most other manufacturers, I'd still be waiting on the first issue.

2) re read #1. This is important, especially to those "worried" about purchasing one. If it fails, they take care of it. period. exclamation point!

3) I did, indeed, decide to go with satin silver this time. Love the stealth look. Just can't continue to be without a device.

4) Too lazy to post more pics. Plenty out there though. The break is where it holds the crucible door.
I feel that the issue has been well covered here and is being investigated.

I'm new here, so I'll take my time and slowly become an aggravating , and insufferable, know-it-all.
So, I wont be going into detail on pros and cons various molding techniques and materials.
I will add this: Thermally stable plastics can be finicky.

5) I'd love to see some accessory sales for those of us that already own a device.

6) I'd also love a demon unicorn that shits weed, and Pisses bourbon. Who doesn't though, really.

I followed that link and came across this on the Ghost website: The Industry leading performance of the GHOST MV1 provides significantly more sessions between charges than any other product, so frequent daily charging is now a distant memory for serious vaping enthusiasts.

EXCUSE ME, there are more than a few vapes that can go longer without charging. I had one in particular that had an HOUR of actual vaping time. Now, you can get 2 hours.

Mods: I apologize. When a statement is, in my opinion, untrue I feel obligated to share this with others. I have no Ghost products I have nothing against them and if I have the requisite $$$ I may buy one.

Hi all,

Another haze square defector has arrived.

Just doing some research in anticipation of replacing my haze square in the near future.

Can anyone tell me how long the battery lasts before it needs to be replaced? I don’t mean how many draws you can get from a single charge. I’d like to know how many times you can recharge the battery before you notice there is a considerable drop off in performance even when it is fully charged.

After the square fiasco, I am reluctant to go all in on any vape and buy all the accessories to go along with it. I’m thinking of just buying the base unit without any extras but for about an extra hundred, I can get a spare battery and the fast charger. I know it’s nice to have but is it necessary? I’m not a heavy user (once at night for pain management) so I can work around not having a fast charger. But it’s the battery I’m worried about. Thoughts?

If your only using it once a night why be bothered about the battery life lol..

I'd imagine it will last you a long time though...

Just worried about future costs. I’m from Canada so the dollar is worth $hit. It’s $80 for a new battery so with tax, it’s over $90. :(

Also, I’ve just started perusing this thread so forgive me if this has already been covered...is there a problem with the latch on the stealth edition? That’s the one I have my eye on but I saw someone mention that on the other colours, it’s plated plastic which makes it more durable? Sorry if I misread and am causing more confusion...

@frank grimes I'd say for your usage you'd be alright without the accessories, only major consideration is charge time - apprx 8 hrs to fully charge with usb cord, 2hrs with FCharger. Check out Ghost's trade in program, save 50 bones on the stealth or get a free charger. Sounds like you can send them any ol dusty vape (doesn't have to work.. can even be a vape pen?).

Hi Frank. I'm in the same boat. I have spent a ton of money on battery vapes and have been disappointed the the life span of the battery. I ask Ghost about the battery and was told that it is designed to last for at least the length of the warranty...5 years? It sounds like an extra battery is in order if you don't want to be left without in the evening. I think I will wait for a package deal maybe for my birthday (dream) or 420 offers. In the meantime, I have a few vapcaps that I enjoy. Good luck

I can see how you came by that impression, but AFAICT the latch is the latch. Moving the latch means compressing a spring, it takes a fair amount of pressure sideways, against the outward pressure on the door. Pressing the door *into* the vape while moving the latch makes it easier and less scary by relieving that extra pressure. It’s entirely too early in the life-cycle to know if it will become easier over time.

As for the accessories, after spending my first battery charge on maybe 3 crucibles total, I think that a spare battery is really going to be desirable down the road. Unfortunately, that pretty much means you need the fast charger, as otherwise the USB charger is used, and it must be connected to the mv1 to charge and can’t be used for 8 hours. I don’t have a spare, but I’ll get one in a little while. The 5 crucibles + dispenser is pretty nice. I could use a second one, too if I could get concentrate pads in each crucible. That would make vastly more sense than selling 5 empties in a dispenser, but only selling pads in sets of 3, with crucibles.

This is kinda my first rodeo with a fancy rig like this one; prior to this, my vapcaps have been my vapor of choice (dampened by the death of my induction heater, RIP). It was the package offer (and a week of debilitating cough) that swung me. Well, that and $300 I hadn’t allocated yet.

Pardon me if I’m repeating myself, y’all, I really was pretty sick but I’ve just about found all my marbles now.

@ClearBlueLou, I'm working on a reply to your earlier post about running cool & no vapor, so hang on.

@frank grimes, the vape has not even been out for 1-1/2 years & I haven't heard of anyone whose battery has failed yet. So, since you aren't a heavy user, you should get 2 or 3 nights out of a charge depending on how many crucibles you go through. So you can forego any accessories upfront or go with either a fast charger or a 2nd battery* (*dependent on my results in my reply to ClearBlueLous below). If I am correct in that the battery can be charged independent of the vape, you would have a functioning vape while the 2nd battery is charging via USB. And, as guyonthecouch said, if you have an old vape, you can trade it in & either get $50 off the Ghost or a free fast charger.

that pretty much means you need the fast charger, as otherwise the USB charger is used, and it must be connected to the mv1 to charge and can’t be used for 8 hours.

I think you're wrong on this. For my initial charge I always do a slow usb charge so as to condition the new battery. I'm pretty sure I charged the battery independently of the vape on my latest Ghost. I just now plugged the battery sans vape into the usb charger to confirm. Will let you know in 8 hours max. I did notice that, unlike the fast charger, when using the USB charger, I do not get the red light either when plugged in with or without the vape --the light remains off until the battery is fully charged, at which time it glows green.

I regularly charge the battery with just the USB cord; I can't have an MV1 sitting out in the open around the house. I've never had an issue with charging it this way (and, when I had two batteries, it made it more convenient to charge the spare -- one less device to worry about or travel with, the Kindle and MV1 use the same cord).

No vaporizer was worse for me than the Haze as far as battery life went. I do not miss it.

I have two batteries and the fast charger, and I do what they say they do in one of their videos: I switch the battery out once a day, and it's usually on two green lights by then. But they say that topping it off is good for it.

They told me that the batteries are good for one year--so I hope that my two are good for two years. I would find it hard to believe they'd last for five years, but I'd be happy if that were the case.

Yes, I bought the whole shebang for 400: I find the fast charger and the crucible carrier indispensible. I actually have two crucible carriers and i keep em both loaded. This equipment allows me to dip in when I feel like it and not have to worry about how much battery...

Asked on VLF about sale of the Stealth Black heat sinks & mouthpieces. Here's the reply from GhostTeam, "We're currently awaiting stock on the heat sinks, also the mouthpieces. Once they come in we'll be going live on the site. No concrete date as of yet but it's coming soon."

Thanks, Mr M! Please confirm that that when you usb charge independent of the vape you, too, have no red/orange light & just get the green fully charged light? I just fully charged a battery with the fast charger & have connected that to the usb charger & am waiting to see how long it takes for the green light to come on. For all I know, it may take a whole 8 hour charge cycle to register since it's not an intelligent charger. We shall see.
