Anyone else have experience with moon rocks and the vrod?

I’ve done two now between a friend and myself and so far the best method has been with using the glass bowl and doing a longer sesh with increasing temps.

My thinking and based on the limited posts I’ve found with these and the flowerpot, is that you can extract different levels of the rocks contents by moving the temp up throughout the use.

I’m a low temp user anyway, flower I do 585 and concentrates I do 645.

Interested on thoughts on this. One thing is for sure, the glass bowls are a breeze to clean compared to the screens when using moon rocks.

Oh man, I wish! I'd be pushing combustion, 747F(SH) at least!

Did I mention that a package from NV landed here this weekend?* :brow: And that I’m picking up a @710Coils box this afternoon?** I’m embarking upon my maiden voyage aboard the VRod this evening! I don’t have a dedicated FP space atm but I’ll muddle through. I’ve got plans to build a small station to house it & my small glass stash. Having all the pieces of my “dream setup” will motivate me to get this completed. I just need to find the extra energy somewhere. ;)

I’m looking forward to the day I can press my own rosin. I’m practicing voodoo daily right now trying to win NewVape’s Tegridy20 Giveaway. Although it’s probably more press than I would ever need! As my dears @Nina & @Alexis have testified, there aren’t any sources for quality solventless extracts on our island. And even if there were, our North American brethren pioneering this tech have shown us how quickly the investment pays for itself. And I feel morally obligated to use the VRod to its fullest potential!

* echoing all that’s been said here about the beautiful finish and feel of quality of NV gear. Every piece is flawless. I got the Panhead and it looks so cool but I’m wondering why the hell didn’t I just get both bowls on BF? After actually holding the kit in my hand, now I know that I must get the Shovelhead as well.
Ah well, another opportunity to harass poor Lori. Gotta echo that too, Lori was simply amazing!

** this is the latest 710 VRod coil, I’ve heard they’re perfection and will confirm that with y’all later tonight. Shane has really put the time & effort/expense into getting this particular coil right. Thanks 710Coils!

The suspense!!!! :o:brow::leaf::zzz:

Oh my dog, holy moly that VRod is the TRUTH! Lol, breaking news! :D It’s all been said before about the VROD and so much better than I ever could - So why try?! I’m taking my first flight with two bubblers tonight, using a glass bowl and the Panhead, both through @Oregonglassblower cloud buddy adapter:o! Beyond keeping your piece clean, this carbed adapter design always has a maximising effect. I tasted tones and flavours in my herb that I’ve not noticed until tonight. I can smell it in the vapor exhaust even. I’m not going mad I tell you!! This is obviously going to take more research and thought on my part. :freak:

The assembly was intuitive and made me fully appreciate the level of precision in Edwyn’s design and machining skills. Plugged right into the ultra-sexy RDK300A, you know, it’s got the NewVape kNob? :brow:
It’s a bad muther (hush your mouth) and I was blasting off! The VRod is very efficient with your flower, however it’s a lot of fun to use and play, I mean test scientifically with different variables in play and so it’s understandable how one could potentially vape more herb than usual during this exploration phase. :science: Be prepared for lots of rambling exposition at random times throughout the day, that’s all I can say... I will endeavour to stay on the topic of anything relevant to the NewVape Monkeysphere, mostly that is...:haw:

I’m sad to find that @BornAgainSteama will no longer be around FC and man, it’s going to take lots of energy and enthusiasm to fill that void. In this one thread alone! I really hope his old posts as Steama can be restored when/if v-tac pops by. Lots of FlowerPot knowledge has been lost and NV surely lost one of their most fervent and vocal fanatics.

P_J’S OFFICIAL(lolz) VROD COIL from @710Coils TESTIMONIAL: Perfection Indeed! Thanks for the heads up Shane, I did as you said and, after attaching the handle, spread each coil a hair’s breadth (not much at all, easy does it) using one of my beloved’s cheese knives. shhhh ;) And presto - from really good fit to absolutely perfect -chango - it’s solid as a rock! Feels like one unit. By Jove, you’ve got it!:sherlock:
CONSUMER: BUY WITH CONFIDENCE! pxl_jockey, Llc accepts no responsibility whatsoever. You’re on your own buck-o! Same as it ever was. But honestly, it fits perfectly and you’ll love the sexy cord colours with your setup! Join me or die! Can you do any less?

I don't have a vrod, but I've used moonrocks in my SH. Like you, I used the glass bowl and bumped up temps quite a bit. Intense session. I recommend!

For real, I honestly taste the most, especially in the first few hits of flower with the vrod and it’s amazing. I have converted a few friends who now literally go out of their way to stop by and bring free herb just to vape it on this set up :whoa:

Also props on your posts man, they are a trip to read.

Awesome, glad I’m not crazy! It’s by far been the best method I’ve found, thanks for the input!

This thread ran for almost a year I think before there was any real interest from our female vapers

I wonder why the flower pot might have less appeal for women?
I feel quite bonded to mine now although I can certainly see that it's a bit of a scary thing, no scarier than an iron or an oven, then again ironing and baking are not things I would risk doing when stoned:D.

I did drop the head on the carpet a few weeks back, some melting occurred :o

hahah so rad!

Woke up and turned tge controller to 725

Loaded my bowl with a nice fat scoop of some great flower

Slow draw that progressed in speed through the draw. Bowl looks done in one hit

Feel death approaching and quickly throw coil down on heat post and run out of the room

Left earths atmosphere; now on the couch ready for another nap

Just had an EHLE FlowerPot bowl delivered today, only washed and admired it so far. So much testing and comparison/contrast studies to be done. The VRod is going to require rigorous dedication, that much is clear. I’m so stoked to be able to have this device in my clutches finally! Thank you NewVape!

It’s going to be a pretty fabulous holidays this year, I think!

Hey guys, just finalizing my order details now.

How necessary are the "double weave titanium screens" for the VROD?

Looking for zero draw resistance and easy maintenance.
Imho a fine grind is very important with the FP and with a fine grind too much material gets through the standard weave screens. The double weave screens do a great job of mitigating this issue. My double weave are holding up well as I make sure to empty it while it is warm and I brush it out right away.

Imo the double weave titanium screens is a easy and good option for keeping
your rig/bubbler clean longer...it does add a bit of draw resistance
(esp. if it gums up over time ((yes I know one can clean it :D))
but in most scenarios it won't make a big impact.

Since I alrdy stacked 2 showerheads the DR does come into play and I like the more coarse screens better...I will now try adding a dry ash catcher to collect the ABV there..will see how that turns out :)

Congrats @SonSzu !

I don’t find much of a difference in either and I agree, I just dump while it’s warm and brush the screen out. If it gets funky I just soak and clean with isopropyl.

A fine grind I think works best for getting off to the races, but I also find doing a more coarse grind with low temps and longer sesh brings out amazing taste. I usually vape till it taste like popcorn, then bump the temp and go till it’s toasted.

Save the ABV for an afterlife in some treats.

Any idea of what temps I need to use to get the Ti to start getting some color? I've been vaping daily since getting it a bit over a week ago, and see zero color change aside from the dab tool. I wanted to get some shatter to stick, so I stuck the dab tool into the flame on my gas stove…

I usually vape at 340C/645F, as I like lower temperature extraction. Do I need to crank it to see some color change?

Okay, honeymoon phase is over with the vrod. I Put it away and brought the SH back out. After some side by side comparison (admittedly only visual - not confirmed by measurements) it looks like the SH benefits not only from more thermal mass but the diffusion holes in the head that heat up the air as you inhale are a decent bit longer on the SH vs the vrod - which combined with the middle hole and added thermal mass makes the SH work noticeably better in strictly quick flower extraction IMO.

It's not such a big difference that one would be let down by the vrod for 95%+ flower, just slightly noticeable side by side at the same temps, and really I could see if you arent going for large single hit bowls then you may not even notice a big difference, the vrod still vapes that well.

Obviously comparing dabbing isnt even really fair  the sic dish + pearls + angled hole cap are in another league compared to the huge titanium trough in the SH, but I think if/when I can put together a banger+insert combo for a dedicated dab setup that would rival the vrod, I'll send the vrod down the line and stick to the SH but we'll see.

Back to the lab :science:

If you want to speed up the coloring process go up over 900F. Maybe even higher. My SH turned blue when I did a burn off i think around 950 or 1000 tops for like 20 or 30 mins IIRC.

As far as the screens go, I happen to like a bit of resistance. When I noticed that there were particles in my bong water I just doubled up on the single weave screens — and installed a smaller third screen below the showerhead, right on top of the 18mm connector. This has worked really well — no bits of AVB in the bong and a perfect customized rate of vapor flow. The NV double woven titanium screens are probably worth getting but for people who have extra screens around there are effective alternatives.

Stretched out my coil slightly so that’s it’s 15mm in height and filled the bowl up nicely, around half or so. Man-oh-man. Felt like I took a huge dab! I think it’s working better now. Had the temp at 670, might have been too hot. Felt like I burnt my throat lol

I thought that the current coils shipping from NewVape for Auber controllers was already the right size to fit the VRod without stretching - the same size as the coils on the original NV controller; is that not the case? Are these coils not from NewVape?

@NewVape710 @newvape918 ?

I’m just afraid I’m giving people wrong info on coils right now so I’d like to clear it up...

@710Coils had some that were short too. Are the ones shipping now the right size?

@VaporWare when the vrod body is screwed together. It will compress the coil back together. The coil spreading is just a precaution to make sure you get a snug fit. You shouldn’t need to spread the wraps much. Maybe a 1/16 or less

Okay, but if someone orders a coil from you for the VRod right now they should expect to spread it slightly, correct? Do you know if that’s the case for Auber compatible coils currently shipping from NewVape?

I just told someone a couple of days ago that the coils shipping now shouldn’t need spreading, and I don’t like giving wrong information... :disgust:

I cannot speak for the newvape coils. But mine were made to spec and only need the smallest amount of spreading to achieve a perfect fit.

This is just to add some tension when screwed snugly together. To make sure there isn’t any possible play.

I have been trying to decide if I should pre adjust or leave and let the customer decide the fit.

If I had a vote, if you’re selling them specifically for use with the VRod, I’d say spread ‘em. ;)

Otherwise, do you have a recommended way of getting it perfect? I’ve never had to adjust a coil, and while I have some ideas about how to do it right I don’t want to tell people to do something that I’m not sure about.
