The Extreme-Q Vaporizer

Greetings All,

Pretty new here. Very new to vaping (since Nov 23, 2018). Long time smoker of 20 years.

Picked up the EQ on Black Friday for a killer deal. Also picked up an ArGo and a Dynavap.

I definitely jumped right into the deep end right off the bat with this vaping thing. I think I really 'need' to switch for my lungs sake.

I often TL;DR post, so forgive me.

I've been reading this thread. I'm only 30 some pages in so far, but I figured I'd say Hello while I'm at it. I could take a while to read this whole thread, but I think the information and experiences it contains will be worth it. I get to fast track 8 years of EQ data...gunna be some work. But I'm very interested.

So far, I'm loving vaping. I'm still working on my techniques with the EQ. I'm getting better at making it do what I want it to do. I'm playing with both bags and the whip. I've got a 14mm GonG adapter and a little perc bong.

Not quite where I want to be yet, but like I say, my technique is improving.

One observation so far is how much more economical vaping is to smoking. Without reducing our rate of intake, our product has been lasting more than 50% longer. We usually needed to resupply every 3 days. Now, the same weight of product is lasting 7 or 8 days. And like I say, no reduction in the frequency of usage.

I've already make ABV muffins, which could use improvement in terms of flavour and texture, were quite effective. So I'm very excited about the 'recycling' vaped bud aspect.

I really love learning new things. And this is a big change for my wife and I. A very big lifestyle change indeed.

I am already feeling the positive effects of vaping in my lungs. When exercising, I have more breath now, so that's very encouraging to feel an effect this quickly.

Looking forward to participating here, and learning what I can from this community.

Cheers!
Dave

Welcome @Altreac . So pleased you are diving into the thread. You seem to be an all or nothing kind of guy. Any chance of your wife joining us?
Have you tried water curing your ABV to get rid of the flavor? I guess it's not curing, but the method is the same. Put ABV in jar. Cover with clean, filtered water. Change water daily for 5 to 7 days until water is clear, then use ABV in cooking or baking, or cover with booze to make tincture or honey/agave nectar/vegetable glycerine for elixer. You can speed the process up by changing water twice a day. Just don't use hot or cold water, and don't shake. For sure you will end up with ABV. It's a great bonus to vaping.

Definitely nailed it there. I've always been an Everything or Nothing kind of person.

Any chance of your wife joining us?

That is hard to say. She has her own spheres of the internet she attends to, but it's not impossible.

Have you tried water curing your ABV to get rid of the flavor?

Not yet. I've only tried baking with ABV once so far. I'm working back up to an ounce though, so I really should figure out what I would like to do with the stuff.
How long does ABV 'keep'? I've been collecting it on my coffee table in a snap top plastic container, and then transferring it to a larger, o-ring sealed glass container. We've saved 100% of our ABV since day zero so far, and I'm glad I caught that tip prior to actually acquiring the vapes.

Thanks though, that's definitely something I will try.
I also saw a video on someone making cannabutter, and washing the cannabutter.

Would it be better to wash the ABV, then make cannabutter, or make the cannabutter and wash it? Both?

Hello Dave,
Welcome to the forum and welcome to vaping. I had a similar experience to you. Long term smoker. It definitely is more efficient and saves material. I also enjoy being able to taste the product rather than tobacco/Ash which is the norm (mix with joints) in my country.

I really loved the q but also got a volcano this is my daily vape now. The q gets used every now and again. I do feel like the flavour can be better in the q. Also like the option to direct draw if I don't like bags that day.

Two tips I really like about the q. Elbow loading - brilliant for microdosing and stem milk. You're probably going to read those anyway.

I bought a dynavap M a few weeks ago. Really hard hitting - very similar to a spliff for me which I haven't had for about 10 month's - I had an ear infection, it threw my balance so much that I couldn't walk. I read a lot of pages here and went with a Mighty and that led to me having VAS (vaporizer acquisition syndrome). I definitely enjoy this over smoking. I have noticed my health improve, sort of saved money - when I'm not buying new vapes/accessories. If I get groggy I put Eucalyptus in a vape and it cuts right through mucus - give it a good clean after, taste lingers. Was never a bong person myself but love vaping through water now. I love the 'lift off' of hitting hard, seems to take me further than smoking in a certain way. But with vaping I do feel clear and less mongy.

I've read that making a hard switch is better - eliminate benzene. If you can do that really good on you.

Sorry it's a little off topic just being friendly and saying hello. Welcome to the wormhole. This forum is like the vape Bible for me but it is hard scouring through all the pages. All the best

Thanks for the welcome @Some-new-user and @Madri-Gal!

I should add a small bit of info to my "new to vaping". Years and years ago, I had a vaporizer. It was a stand, with a heating element and a glass globe that fit on top of the unit. I tried it a few times, and never really like it. I gave it away. It was given to me for free. It was an unbranded, cheap whip vape. It didn't really work at all. There was no temperature settings, just plug it in, put herb on the bowl and wait.
Then last New Year's, I was at a buddy's place. He had a volcano. And I got passed a balloon many times that night. It was then that I realized vaping 'could' produce a noticeable effect, despite that I was ripping my bong at the same time. So that was sitting in the back of my mind.

Then my wife more or less randomly suggested the EQ. I'm not sure where she came up with it, but I did a bunch of research and agreed that it sounded like a good idea. (But then me being a nut decided to get more vapes on top of it, but that's aside)

As per your tip @Some-new-user, I have definitely read about elbow packing. And I've been playing with it.
Right now, start-up routine when I have the time is like this: Turn on EQ, run at 230C with Fan speed 1 for around 10 minutes or so. I have the cyclone bowl and either the whip elbow or the glass mini-whip on the device for warm up. Then I depending on whether I'm filling a bag, or an elbow, I'll put the herb into the bowl or elbow accordingly, and let it warm up for a couple minutes before hitting it/turning on the fan to fill the balloon. This seems to be the general technique described by most people here that I've read so far. And it's working.

I definitely agree that the Dynavap hits harder though. I've got an Omni, and I love the thing. I can toast my ABV as dark as I like easily. @DDave recommended one to me early on, based on some issues I had, and man, he wasn't wrong. (I found this forum via the DDave mod), and I should have a DDave mod kit within a few days.

Vaping Eucalyptus? Interesting. I've used the essential oil in a dry-heat sauna before, and that was pretty cool. Vaping the stuff won't hurt you though? (Haven't really considered vaping things other than cannabis to be honest)

I have the Arizer without the fan, just the whip. I use it every night before bedtime, load it and watch television and sip, sip, sip, until I get sleepy. No fuss, no muss. Of course, I used @DDave from almost the beginning. I would probably moved on, with out @DDaves attachments.
I think you have a really good start going, similar to what I first purchased too.
Welcome Altreac, you're going to have fun now!

@Altreac you're in good hands with @DDave any accessories or advice. Glad you found the vape and the forums. The reason I got the volcano was the warm up time and glass. I know it's a nicer experience but I just didn't like worrying about breakages and am more of a 'good to go' sort of person.

I too had some disappointing budget vapes but when that infection hit I was in the mindset of get the best of the best. Now I do love my mighty but i really love the variation between models and manufacture of the vapes, it's surprising how the material can affect the taste too. I feel like glass is the most pure I've tasted so far, zirconia (davinci iq and starry) is very interesting. Stainless does do something for me but my taste buds aren't as advanced as some people on this forum. I hardly do burn offs on vapes. Bit of avb in the chamber run at max and do some mouth pulls/blow GENTLY through intakes.
I didn't envisage me wanting a desktop model but after a while on the mighty and judging my use and seeing issues from other users I think that if you're a serious smoker/vaper then you need multiple units for the inevitable breakage/cleaning. I think of my herb consumption similar to tea which I have multiple times a day and I'm definitely addicted to caffeine. I pretty much want it on demand and for 10 months now I've always had a nice amount of bud to keep me going. I could even vape hemp tea as a placebo to put me over if I get really really desperate.

Yes you can vape more than 'just' cannabis - vaping has made cannabis more of a herb again for me now, someone described it as smart aromatherapy. Lavender is very tasty. Mint is nice for digestion and headache and as mentioned above I also use hemp tea to lower my consumption. I take days off optionally now to reduce my tolerance rather than being forced because I've ran out of material and I can't get hold of anything. Also CBD hemp is starting to get popular in my country (UK) these don't contain a lot of THC 0.02% MAX I think so are good for keeping a clear head while still enjoying some flower and some decent tastes.

Very interesting times we live in. To have access to all of these devices and this information. I'm also very grateful to be in a position where I can afford to try these things or even afford the material and not give it much thought where other people struggle for warmth and food. Especially at Christmas - this has made my mind up. I need to 'do some good' even if it's just a donation of food/money to a needy cause.

I think for me the only upgrade I'd like to see on the q and this is going to absolute extremes here would be wifi/smart control - which I have done with a universal wifi infra red sender from Amazon and to top it off would be colour changing/mood lights. If they came out with a unit like that I'd get one just for the sake of it but that's just me. I like gadgets and tech and sort of have an overactive mind. I'd like to make vapes in the future. Already been tinkering and that would be my all singing all dancing, still love simplicity though.

Take care everyone, going to (try) be productive now.

4 me I had 2 get a @DDave kit to make it medicated the way I require?

In my case 4 the Q ! Needed the Dave kit to meet my needs. Fyi
@Some-new-user get what work’s 4U?

stonedbob

100% THC
(I found this forum via the DDave mod), and I should have a DDave mod kit within a few days.
for me the ddave mod did alot of difference than the non-ddave setup... as if i had tried it the first time again. this is my main daily setup for more than 2 years now, load of 0.03g will last for more than hour for me...
EQ + DDave + Elbow Packing = monstrous combination. and nothing here is expensive (compared to market)
who would have believed that a flight ticket to the moon would be so efficient and cheap? :sherlock:

Hey guys! Normally I just lurk but right now i'm in a bit of a bind. I leave for Colorado on Friday but my EQ power brick shit the bed last night. Unfortunately the official power brick doesn't have prime shipping, so Ive been looking for an "unofficial" one. The vape itself works it is just getting a power adapter by Friday. I was wondering if anyone had any alternative power adapters for the EQ on amazon.
I called all the vape shops here but none of them have just the power supply.
Ive spent several hours trying to figure out which ones would actually work but I still have no clue, so I came to post here, as I figured someone here has to be using an "alternative" power adapter. My EQ is damaged and has another year tops so I am not worried about the power adapter damaging it.

I am using one of this type, Harmon-Khardon. It works like a charm. I think the most important factor to look for is:
NSA40ED-190200

I am no electronics expert or whathaveyou, I've just found one of these works just as well to power my EQ. I've been using the replacement for 1+ yrs. now. Hope this helps. There's also other options than the link, just make sure they are that number compatible.

My conversion collection.

Things are good. Since we started vaping, I've only combusted a couple times (and her none, so kudos). It's only been 25 days total. I'm pretty set on only vaping cannabis.

Definitely have everything I need now.

Exciting times for us ahead!

You'll need to upload your pics to a third party image host before you can post it here. Don't use imgur as they hate us and it won't work here. Try postimages.org or imgbb.com some other image host like tinypic.

Congrats on the conversion, btw! Your lungs will thank you for it. ;)

I believe you. I already feel a difference in my lungs. I exercise 3 times a week, and it's been getting easier to breath, even in this amount of time.

I've used OneDrive to host images before on another forum. I can get the URL that I linked, or an embed code. But it is technically a third party host, no? OneDrive has the capability for sure.

I can see the image you posted when I click the link you provided, but that type of link won't work for embedding images here using our insert image tool. You need a direct link to do that (typically ending in .jpg) and onedrive seems to have a problem giving you that option. When I tried to capture the direct link of your image, Microsoft wanted me to log in to my account so it's not a normal image host like the others I mentioned.

Hit me up via PM if you would like to discuss this more as it's kinda OT for the thread. ;)

Hey guys, You want to hear a pretty cool thing that happened to me?

Anyone that has an Extreme Q, probably has or will buy, one of @DDave
kits to make your EQ more functional, it is highly suggested by folks that
have the kits.
Well, a couple of days ago @DDave contacted me, and said he was going to send me
a little package. Very cool, I thought. Well, it came and it has basket screens, regular
screens and a small water pipe. As far as I can tell, the wp will work with a vc too!
Isn't that just fantastic?? Anyway, I wanted to share my joy with all of you. :)
Thanks DDave!!!
