Dabpress Rosin Plates

Stainless steel screen works fine. I used to use it before I discovered silkscreen cloth. Long before commercial bags were ever available.

And, it's refreshing to see a love for Mother [Earth]. :)

I'd be keen to try those filters in the future, much prefer to work with silk than nylon as long as they aren't to much more to buy in. I did a decent scale press today using the hr10t35v and dry sift and bubble hash, worked well in both cases.

I ran the sift and bubble through nylon 25u filters and 25u stainless steel as well. Easier to use the nylon bags than the SS and felt more comfortable using those too, so SS is out of the window.

Temp set at 150f, no more than 1000 psi, zero blow outs which I'm rather pleased about. Have a seriously good selection of oils to chose from but each one is slightly different in consistency. Dry sift is more brittle, waxy and generally harder to get into a solid mass (had to heat back of a spoon and lighty rub the parchment to get it to bind). Smells great and now looks great too.

Bubble was a another story, very sticky and sappy, easy to get into a decent lump with little effort. Much better return for the bubble as well. Pressed 3.04 grams of killer kush bubble hash (high and medium grade 45-120u) got 2.1 gram back of beautiful, aromatic and reddish tinted oil.

One thing I did notice tho I got no drips off the hash? Seemed to just press out and stay on the plates once out of the solid mass. Sat there regardless of pressure or heat exerted on it, funny as I thought it would gush out?

Still in the honeymoon stage with my press but I'm learning and enjoying every squish :).

Wax vs Parchment paper.

Which is the best for pressing?

Wax paper shouldn't be used as the wax coating will melt into your rosin. For sure parchment paper.

That's a great run, you will get more of a flow with higher amounts. Was your filter closer to the center of the plates? I've been putting my puck about 1/4" in from the edge of the plates and the filter generally will squish out to get close to the edge, might be a different story with hash as the load's not as thick is most cases, might have to position it a little closer.

Doing flower in 5g batches ysing the 30mm cylinder pre-press mold, I am seeing about 50% of the yield drip out, and the other 50% stay on the parchment. Still experimenting :science:

Oh yeah had a good time with the press today @psychonaut its still a learning curve for me right now but boy is it a fun and throughly interesting lesson each and every time. Yes the hash puck was placed virtually dead centre. I found when pressing a few herb pucks last time they were to close to the edge anda little of said puck had to be combined with the next one to get squished. So they got placed right in the middle for maximum pressure.

What are your experiences on re-using the nylon bags after washing them with alcohol? Does it make sense besides to harvest the rest of the oils in the puck?
If so, how many squishes can you use them for before they're unusable?

I used a spent 25u nylon on Sunday on my press, however its first pressing was using a hair straighteners and brute force so didn't exert to much pressure or blow the bag.

All the ones Ive used on the press have been totally un-useable after tons of weight has been added. Can re use the cut offs though :)

Spent most of yesterday pressing - great time. Lots of experimenting with different temps. I'm seeing 15-18%, but only have this one strain to press for now. Five 7g presses between 200 and 220 with the best yield (1.3g) at 208. Using the bags makes for much cleaner product, but a little less yield.

I've never reused my filters for fear of dealing with blowouts. My next grain alcohol wash I'll dissect a puck and see how viable it is for reuse. My instinct says to just toss them. A 40 pack of 2x4" filters will easily press 400g of buds for under $20. The cut to size rosin sleeve tubes might be able to run a lil more material versus pre-cut L-stitched filters. You'll have a loss of filter length with the 2 ends folded however. For large loads I have contemplated just sheets of nylon as the affordable path I just don't press that much at once so haven't even sourced any sheets yet.

@FlyingLow hope that grease monkey greased out for ya!:buzz::buzz:

@bizwaxzion nice, good to see you're experimenting :science::cheers:

Our 40mm cylinder pre-press mold pm40r will be finished next week and ready for re-release @gunmetalshark The upcoming pre-press molds (square/rectangle puck shapes) will be available later this month, with pics once they are finished in manufacturing.

@tepictoton hr10t35 is now available for purchase, no pump included so you will need to procure the strongway compatible pump with gauge from EU vendors (ebay), or if you prefer 3/8" NPT fitting, its more expensive this path but more compatible parts found international, we have this size coupler as well.

@FOAMING MAD are you using a cylinder pre-press or rectangle?

How much buds are ya'll wanting to be pressing regularly?

So, we do have a party here on friday and i
am in charge to bring the goodies :D

Here another squish, 20g in 2x 40mm round pucks á 10g each, packed in 120 micron / 2,5" filter bags :D
20 in 4 out like usual..lol :D

6000PSI

Looks great @gunmetalshark whats the strain? Think it will be a hell of a party wheres my invite ;). Pretty sure its two 10g bags @bizwaxzion same as what I'll be doing when i have some herb to press. Currently only got bubble, its a hard life .

I am collecting bubble right now..tried smaller amounts but that just doesn't do it for me,
i wanna get at least 20g sift to try that in one run :D :D

Strain is Ethos Genetics - Colorado Chem Rbx3

Yeah, first world problems :D :D :D

edit.
No one of the party does even know what dabbing is nor Rosin or anything thet related and
I´m gonna come with my Liger Air/Sapphire/Badabing Travel Setup and the rosin u just saw....lool :D :D :D

I`m using the cylinder pre-press. It would be nice to use, as much as one could on the 3x5 plates.

You can use 2x pucks made with the 30mm cylinder pre-press mold on 3x5" plates, once pm40r is released you'll also be able to use 2x pucks with the 40mm mold as well.

I would only use 1 puck per filter though when using the cylinder mold, if you wanna max out the filter the 2x4" rectangle pre-press mold does well to pack in 10-14g.

NT&E has marked down the strongway pump with gauge!

$65 on sale -

https://smile.amazon.com/Strongway-Hydraulic-Pump-Gauge-Hose/dp/B00ULDGP2S

https://www.northerntool.com/shop/tools/product_200641798_200641798

For new rosineers looking at hr10t35v unit paired with this pump, here is the value if you bundle.

$499 - hr10t35v rosin press, pm3015r cylinder pre-press mold, 25pc 2x4" rosin filter bags
$65 - strongway pump

$564 total during the sale

All that's left for purchase is buds and parchment paper.

This is about the same price as some 2 ton units on the marketplace without a gauge, driptech capability or ability for simple home-repair by the end user.

I'm tempted to get a backup but I can always use my dake pump in a pinch. Damn good price though, I dont see how they can make money

An update for ya'll. Roger had invested in an electric pump to stress test cylinders on our 2 models hr10t35 and hr10t35v.

So far, as of this past weekend, they have delivered full pressure to cylinders

hr10t35v - 1000x cycles
hr10t35 - 500x cycles

It is difficult to find the language, is there a efficiency sweetspot for pressing certain amounts?

Say, if I have 10g. Am I better off pressing it as one 10g cylinder, or two 5g cylinders? Is one way more efficient than the other?

I have much love for this press and tons to type, but for now I just want to play!

My last press was a bit sappy at 190. Which direction should I move the temps to get a more stable material? The color and flavor is fantastic, very light clear clean amber.

So far I've only done small bagless presses of a piece at a time- getting killer returns with a sugary grease monkey. Looks like I am getting everything out of these pucks:D
