Time and time again i reach for the FW5. Has to be used twice as much as any other vape i own.
For portability, this vape cant be beat. You don't need to carry anything else, no weed, no stems - totally self contained and very small. Stealth wise - it is odd looking but because of its size, it palms really well, no no one can really see it.
However i would not carry this vape on a night down the pub. Not sure how it would handle being dropped.
Been using a little hemp fiber in the far joint of the mouthpiece. Works well to capture particulates (which i am sensitive to)

Works well. Just for fun. I mean, it's cheap and cool you can water filter easy. But if I'm hitting a water pipe, and want to "up" the medicine so to speak, i normally just roll Evo/cloud. I think the FW5 tastes and hits best all on it's own. So nice to carry around with nothing else and be good for while.

So something may be wrong with my FW.
Randomly stopped working with my 18650s.
Took my 18650s to a smoke shop nearby to test them. they powered up several shelf vapes with no issue and were reading at 100% charged.
I'll contact him and see what he says. I am sorta disappointed though.

I'm having a similar issue, I'm planning on emailing. It works with some and not others. A battery that doesn't work in the FW5 will power another device just fine. I have to test them all and see which ones work and which don't.
It's curious because batteries that previously worked have stopped working im the FW5.

small update.
I got some 18650s from a local shop. they apparently work flawlessly. fires up and everything.
maybe my vtc's just hate the fw? /shrug
oh well, back to vaping.

He emailed me. My old batteries were shit, and they were previously used with my old evic box mod.
I tried 4-6 different 18650s from nearby head shops. all of the ones I could try buzzed. the new ones I charged in the nitecore worked flawlessly. I drained one to max and recharged it, popped it in and it was just fine. buzzed 5 times to let me know it was fully charged. got some good sessions out of it.

Does the mouthpiece need to be pushed all the way in to work properly or can you extend it a little for use?

I have had no trouble extending the MP on the FW5 during use. Not enough exp with my FW4 yet to comment on that model.

Okay, so having had a chance to use the FW5 for a semi-extended period of time and I would have to say I'm impressed.
Had one a month or so ago and swore the heater had a defect or the airflow was screwy, so I sent it in for 'service'
...I (think) it was my 18650's. It's weird too, because they worked (and still do) in other devices.
Anyhow, I have been using some 30a and 20a batteries and I find I much prefer the 30a's...I hope this won't damage the unit?
They seem to be able to handle more pull before you get the warning buzz and they seem to work for two trays vs one with the 20a's
Another thing that changed my relationship with the FW5 was learning how to 'hit it' at first I would rest the mp between my lips and draw...it would get me nowhere fast... I actually have to pucker and form a seal around the stem for great results!
Winter use is nice too, the cold may just affect the power of the battery, this can easily be remedied by storing in an inside pocket.
I usually pack four chambers and keep the middle one empty, that way I never have to use it with the tray extended too far.
The size...this has to be the smallest wood and glass 18650 vape out there. It can fit into any pocket in any season and palms wonderfully, so I have been able to use it inside of my favorite stores and the movies with ease...plus there are no lights or indicators to show its operating.

I have a question on the FW5 temp adjust settings from the manual. I sent marc last week asking this, but no response yet so I thought I'd post here to see if anyone knows and can explain.
So I'm trying to dial in my temps and am trying to get into these temp level settings.
i'm confused about what this chart and what the difference is between the default for a given level and what +1/4, +1/2 etc means in relation to the given level? Is taht like a percentage of that level's natural range? so like +1/4 would be +25% of the range of level 2,3,4 since each level has a different delta from min to max?
so doing a 4 click adjustment on level 2, essentially makes it the default ranges of level 3 (4 clicks for +1)

Two clicks would be 2 plus 50%
Three clicks would be 2 plus 75%
Four clicks would be 2 plus 100%...so basically 3.
Five would be two minus 25% making it 1 3/4
And it goes down from there

Thanks! love your vids bro. would love a fw5 review with tips/tricks.
I've been getting used to it and am pretty fond of it so far. really for the size, the no lights, love the wood look, beautiful simplicity.
It's a little fiddly with the ceramic 5 chamber thing. It requires stirring which I don't mind and kind like the ritual of, but the edges of the bowl have these like dimples in them and the material gets weak aiflow in there so it's a little uneven around the edges, and then the little ridges make it difficult to stir.
It has a completely different draw technique than anything else I have tried. very wide open, but you must draw very slow. so it almost feels like you're just taking in teh slowest regular breath ever through pursed lips with no resistance. but it produces great hits when you get it right, on demand. It could probably extract a little better (I dumped out some abv that was spent on the FW5 and put the abv in my swift pro and got like 2 more sesshes out of it, I like to squeeze every last drop out sometimes, taste be damned) I'm going to be working on trying to dial in these temp adjustments to see if I can get it to extract more fully.
I wonder if there'd be a way to slightly redesign the chamber bowl design, because some every so slight tweaks to make stirring easier would be awesome. Also, I have multiple times exttended the tray out to go to the next bowl and at some point accidentally spilled the spent exposed chamber...but I should probably just empty it, but then its a little fiddly to empty only one chamber if the other chambers are all loaded. and the ridges that make stirring hard, make it hard to just empty out the abv quickly too. takes a little picking around.
Also it might benefit from a screen or filter in the L-ceramic piece because I do get some particles sometimes and it might be good to catch reclaim globs in there some way although popping out the tube is easy enough to clean/reclaim.
edited to add: and the one thing that first tricked me when I ventured into the temp adjustment settings was one you do the 8 clicks to determine what a given level is set at, it doesn't buzz at all if it is the default. which wasn't clear at first and confused me but then I realized after setting level 2 to adjustment whatever, then reading it back, then doing the reset to the default process then reading it back...no response = default which isn't really spelled out and confused me for a bit.

I need to explore some of the lower temps, I have only ever used it on four and then I raised that up to five. I'm weird that way.
It does have a pretty open airflow design, given the diameter of the tube, I usually hit it hard enough to get the warning buzz and then just take it a step down from there.
For stirring I use a cuticle pusher:
The rounded edge fits well in the circular bowl and it tosses the fresher herbs on top
IME when the material clings to the sides of the bowl it means that it still has actives in it...after a full roasting material has no problem falling out of the screen.
I hear you about the hang of the tray and that's why I only load four (leaving the middle one open) when you slide the tray to the 2nd bowls position it only leaves about half of the first bowl exposed and if I'm not dumping it I will hold my pinky over it while in use
After the second bowl I take the tray all the way out and flip it around and repeat...seems to be the method that works best for me so far.
And I always keep a toothpick tucked under the glass straw for emergency stirs.
Picking up brand new 30A batteries from imr was probably the best performance boost for me aside from drawing technique
