Haha no joke my friend, it's really an email from pax website lol. About the plastic taste i think it 100% pyrex mouthpiece could be a game changer...why pax didn't design a pyrex mouthpiece ?

Btw, i'm considering getting a mighty to compare...I'm looking for the better flavor and i think it's the better no?

I am more than a little horrified that they told you to try mint leaves. There’s obviously something wrong with your unit.

Jump over to the mighty thread, you will find a lot of very happy people. It’s a wonderful vape. I have the pax3 as well and I think it’s excellent for a single short session, but it gets too hot too quickly to be of real use to me. :\

I wish I could figure out how to post a 2 second video here to illustrate my question/problem, but I can’t so here goes.

My Pax 3 was delivered yesterday, I was out of town and opened it when I got home today. I haven’t even used it yet.

The concentrates insert has an aluminum chamber which fits into a plastic piece which in turn fits into the end of the device. However, the fitting between the aluminum part and the plastic part is so loose that they fall away from each other when I try to get the assembly into the device. Is this the way it’s supposed to be? Am I overlooking an obvious step that prevents this?

I don’t ever use it for concentrates, but I just looked at it to see if I could help.
Does the lid have the red o-ring around it?

The metal lid for the metal chamber does have a red o-ring in place. The problem I'm trying to describe is the fit (or lack of fit) between the prongs on the other side of the metal chamber and the plastic piece, which has a slots the prongs slide into, but are so loosely configured that they don't hold together. It's really difficult to describe the problem in words since I'm new to this and don't know what anything is actually called.

Thanks!

Gotcha.
Hmm. Mine slides in and then stays put. Maybe you got a defective one?
I found this link... maybe it will help?

Sorry I can’t be of more help. If you try it out with flower, I can help more!!
Dang. The reason I bought this was I wanted something that works for flower and concentrate. For the kind of money they charge you would think they’d get to low tech part right.

Thanks for your input and help.

There is a little spring loaded plastic pin that fits into the little dimple on the aluminum oven to hold it in place. Mine holds it steady pretty well although it is very easy to slide it out of the base to clean it. If yours doesn’t stay in place, then let Pax service know.

Dang, I think you just hit it out of the park. I couldn’t figure out what that little doodad was for. It fell out when I took the plastic thing apart because I couldn’t figure out what the rubber cover was for and until you posted, I couldn’t figure out what ithe pin was for.

But I put it back and sonovagun if it doesn’t holds the aluminum oven in place.

Thanks a lot. I really appreciate your taking the time to help a cranky old codger.

OK. Now that we got my first problem solved (Thanks again to everyone who helped!) I'd like to pose a question to the technically oriented folks out there, of which I'm not one of youse.

Towards the end of last year, there was some discussion of how to charge the pax 3 when you don't have a computer at your disposal, and I'm not really sure I understood the responses (what does OEM mean, for example?) or if there was a final consensus, so let me try to boil my question down to the minimum: Can I use the whatsis that came with my iPhone, that has the USB port on one side and the plug that goes into the wall socket on the other, to safely charge my P3?

Thanks again!

Yes you can use the wall plug from your iPhone. Plug the USB cable into the wall plug and the little charger. Place P3 on top of said charger and the Pax should start flashing to show it’s working.

You’re welcome.

Enjoy the concentrate cup, just don’t overload it and don’t lay your Pax down on its side when using concentrates...

One additional tip, when using flowers in your Pax, pack your load tightly and not loose.

You can also charge from a portable USB charge pack, although the PAX 3 has so much better battery life then I'm used to from my pax 1 I'm not often charging anywhere but home.

I'm finding the concentrate oven a nightmare to use because it makes the device so messy and sticky.

I've found that the way to avoid this is to load less concentrate. No more than a small grain of rice AT MOST.

Yes...never fill the concentrate oven to the brim...only small amounts.
And always keep it upright.
Gooey fluids always behave better if kept in their gooey cups.

Uh oh. The lid of the concentrate insert is stuck tight. I can’t get it off the chamber where the product goes. Anyone have any ideas? Thanks

Separate the metal oven from the plastic base and place the metal oven into a small container of iso alcohol and let it soak a bit. The lid should come right off.

Nice wrap up ohmygod. I think the Pax Caps are so essential that Pax should include them. Without them you stink to high heaven, with them no one knows what you've got. Simple, cheap, does the trick.

I've found the shape of the oven enables me to use a tool I always have handy... my finger, to pack material down so it makes good contact with the oven walls for maximum conduction. In general, because I like the beginning of the bowl way better than the end I usually pack a small amount and press it in (with a halfback lid), take 2 or 3 hits. When I'm ready to go again I stir (usually with a golf tee) and press it down again against the bottom and walls of the oven. Two or three mini-sessions then it's time to empty the oven and start again. For me, it's way better than going ten or more hits deep with the last half of them tasting popcorny.

I just have to say that I am amazed at how little attention (measured in pages) Pax gets on this site considering its popularity, portability, stealthiness, quick heat up time, ease of use and ability to get nice taste and clouds without a steep learning curve. I guess it's too mainstream for the cool kids. But after all these years - with Pax 1, 2 and 3 - I've found vapes as good but nothing better particularly for when I'm out and about.

Happy Holidaze Everyone!

Has anyone used replacement parts for the Pax 3 that they sell on Amazon and eBay? I’m especially, but not exclusively, interested in the concentrate insert. Thanks and Happy Xmas!

Thanks. How will the o-ring hold up after doing this?

Good advice. I use a tiny piece of wax, like the size of a grain of rice or a lentil as others have suggested, and haven’t had any problems except that the lid of the insert still gets stuck.

I haven’t noticed any degradation of my o ring although it is silicone and can survive an iso bath. It’s easy to remove the o ring and clean it by hand while the metal oven soaks in your iso container. I’m still on my first o ring after having it for a year.
The lid should not be sticking unless there is some residue up in the fitting...mine is snug so it doesn’t fall out if you turn the oven upside down but pops off readily when you want it too. It never takes a lot of effort.
