Just an update, I contacted S&B and they told me that the scratching and metallic dust is normal. Welp, back to Arizer.

I have put around 10oz through mine (all at 6.5-7) and have never cleaned the actual unit, just the attachments. I just Iso swabbed the metal mating surface on the body of my unit and it turned my q-tip black even though it looked clean apart from the ring scratch on the outer part of the mating surface.:hmm:

Hey everyone,

I have only used my Plenty a few times, and am always very careful with my vapes. I noticed that something seems to be scratching the plenty enough to cause a fine metallic powder to form (if I run my finger over the scratches they become black) when gently turning the mouthpiece onto the handle piece. I believed on an exhale that I saw metallic flakes in my cloud on level 6 1/2 which is how I found the scratches. Any idea what is going on here? I looked at where the two pieces attach and I don't see anything that could cause this.

I clean this part it gets dark too. In my unit it is not substantial amounts that are scraped off. The shape has not changed since I use it. I have yet to find metal shavings in the reclaim from the coil too.

If you really see metal shavings in the inhaled air I think your unit is defective.

Edit: I use my Plenty at 7. But 7 is not 7 on all units there seem to be differences.

More like hallucinating, I quite often see stars in my exhaled vapor, usually right after I stop coughing.:haw:
But the black dust/build-up is real.
Bet you tried that Llama OG

The black build-up is not in the air path. With the chamber reducer I use most often, it is quite far from the air path. Doesn't really bother me in my unit.

The Plenty is by far the vaporizer I use most.

I love my Plenty but am getting tired of solo sessions taking me almost 20m.

Is there any other vape that provides the flavor, density & strength of vapor in less hits?

I'm strongly considering the vape xhale / sublimator / flowerpot.

What do my S&B brethren think?

Highly recommend the Vapexhale Cloud Evo with Turbine Hydratube.
Dont waste your time with anything else, i guarantee you will be extremely satisfied with the evo

Thanks. Do you have the plenty / mighty / volcano?

Do diff glasses change the vape? I was hoping to use my own water pipe.

That turbine hydratube is sitting atop too small a surface area imo. I think it'll eventually snap.

The Plenty needs this type of attachment. I'd bet the plenty could pull way bigger than this thing:

I believe they do, my latest bong a FC-Rattle Can has been knocking me around nicely. I am a one strain guy so different vapes/bongs helps with tolerance problems. I also really like the Boundless Tera V3, it hits nice and hard and reminds me of the Plenty as far as power and taste goes, I can kill a bowl in the 5 minutes the timer gives you when on a bong.

Very interesting paper. Good data.
They only used 0.05g of weed in the plenty filling chamber (probably the big one) for their test. :o

I have an early plenty that could get a little hotter so i thought I open it to see if i can change something.
plenty.jpg

You can see the bimetal element. You can also see that, I think, it is not a good idea to operate it prolonged in upside down position. I do put it sometimes upside down on a bong, waterpipe.

Well my technical knowledge is not enough to be able to change temperature or the bimetal thing, so I closed it again.
Maybe the picture is interesting for some of you.

Plenty is still my vapo number one

Why is prolonged upside down use a problem? Oils building up inside the unit or?

If you put it upside down the hot air escaping from the heat element goes towards those 2 white cables and the heater indicator light. I guess it is not a good idea. This area is not meant to be heated.

I think I read somewhere of someone having a problem with an upside down Plenty, but cannot find at the moment.

I just put it on the bong take a draw and take it off at the end of the draw. So not much heat should go towards those white cables.

By "upside down" do you'se mean facing the orange warming up indicator light towards the ceiling when drawing?

This is obviously anecdotal but I've had to replace my plenty once because of a heating malfunction. Neither me or S&B could figure out what happened.

For some reason it wouldn't heat up past the green zone / outside the red zone, even if the dial was set to max. I only use the plenty at max for extended sessions (until the stickers start falling off), so this was a big problem for me.

I never use the steel wool metal pad, even when I fill shallow chambers. Before ending my session, I flip over the plenty and draw with the indicator light facing the roof.

Very recently, I've been getting similar heating malfunctions after long sessions. The plenty refuses to heat up past a certain point. I even had the plastic over the temperature dial crack.

I think you guys may be onto something.

Yes.

But if I got you right you are only holding it that way at the end of the session?
Then I doubt it is the problem.

I heard that by adding a water tool (I think they talked about the Vapexhale, but not sure) counterintuitively they could increase the efficiency of the extraction compared to no water tool. Seems that the water tool changes the airflow in a way to enhance the extraction.
I wonder what the team around mr. brenneisen with they vaporiser study would find out about this one.

Thanks. Do you have the plenty / mighty / volcano?

I personally do not have a lot of different glass I could add to test. Adding water does change the effect a little. Up to now I have the impression different glass changes more the efficiency than the effect. But I really have little experience with various glass.

I only tested the vapexhale once. No idea what water tool was on top. It provided bigger/denser clouds than the plenty with the chamber reducer. BUT the basket of the vapexhale is bigger and the second toke was popcorn. So it was also set at a higher temperature than the plenty on the max setting I guess. Would have to test more.

interesting. I like the vapcap for what it is. But for me the Plenty is more efficient with the same amount of weed.

edit: maybe I will change my mind about that when I use it more.

I was in the same boat and got an Evo. Then I got tired of glass & water and realized it didn’t take out the long sessions issue from the equation with the Evo.
It needs to be turned on time before your first hit because the bamboo glass has to be real hot. It works best with small loads, that means 1/2/3 hours “party” sessions and getting overmedicated. All the times, in my case. It also means pretty high electricity bills. Being CIVILIZED comes with a price.
Then I got a Volcano that’s my daytime Plenty.
It takes only 2m to go to temp, you get top shelf extraction, effortless hits and short sessions. I really like the flavor, good until the end of the bag. My personal favorite. You can go the capsule way and have a vaporizer that’s compatible with the Plenty. That’s fun too. No glass to mess around with.

Hey DUDE!
I have a EVO (ok 2 units)
The PLENTY I have as well.
Their different beast!
Get both & collect vaporizers.
Personally the PLENTY is a great MEDICATOR!
Cheap & I leave it on 24/7 Da NANO is simple however quick!
VCAP’S R CHEAP since I have a “M” that’s super fast (my wife doesn’t let me use it inside)

Thanks for the replies. I'd pick up a sublimator if it didn't take half an hour to heat up.

Yes.

But if I got you right you are only holding it that way at the end of the session?
Then I doubt it is the problem.

I pack monster bowls & my sessions last forever. The plenty stays upside down for upwards of 30m easily. Not 30m consecutively but 30m combined, at least. I'm constantly flipping the unit in all directions because I don't use the wool pad. I feel the wool pad reduces air flow / vapor is not as flavorful.

I'll post a pic of my cracked temperature screen later on.

Just to clarify -

- You didn't like the Evo because of having to manage class / water.
- The startup time for the Evo was annoying (isn't it identical to plenty's heat up time?)

It works best with small loads, that means 1/2/3 hours “party” sessions and getting overmedicated. All the times, in my case. It also means pretty high electricity bills. Being CIVILIZED comes with a price.

I thought the Evo was like the bong of vapes. I didn't know it could do 1/2/3 hours party sessions. What exactly is causing your high electricity bills?

I'm all for collecting, I'm just trying to understand why the Evo is as expensive as it is. It doesn't do anything particularly special to justify the price IMO. I don't understand the Evo hype I guess.

You can't even put the Evo upside down for longer than 2m without doing damage to the electrical components. The plenty has this problem too. I'm looking for something more idiot proof in my case.

I'm going to try and run my DBV through some glass and see how it tastes. I love DBV but the flavor can be vastly improved, if my ice bong improves the flavor then I'd rather not mess with VXH.

Plus I'd probably opt for a Vrod Flower Pot, since it's more versatile and idiot proof.

That new G43 over at vapelife looks interesting too.

High bills come from keeping the Evo on multiple hours a day. Same thing with Volcano. That’s why I love auto shut off time of the digit. I didn’t like the Evo as much as the Plenty because of glass/water, because it’s not a bedside vape as much as the Plenty. During the day I use a Volcano. During the night if I wake up or need a session before sleeping I have a Plenty. The heat up time on my 2018 Plenty is just above 4 minutes. Evo heat up time is even less iirc, but the thing works best after it stays on longer than that. Evo is exactly a vapor bong but the load has to be small, or else you’ll vape it partially. Small hits leads to many hits. Many hits means 1/2/3 hours sessions because the flavor is really good and the whitewalling effect is visually very rewarding.

That makes a lot of sense

So 1 plenty bowl = several EVO bowls to reach the same high?

I want everything the plenty has but in less tokes.

Feels like it takes me an hour just to kill a decent sized bowl.

Guess I need something with a comparable chamber size to the plenty to do vapor bong hits with.

I just had session with da PLENTY and da usage is less than the EVO!
EVO not bad really!

The FLAVOR is different however I like the EVO as well.

STONED with the PLENTY through water path FC 188 I think sometimes!

@LesPlenty influenced me?
@Vitolo made it possible!

I got myself a Tera from Boundless, it is quite similar in taste and effect to my Plenty but only takes seconds not minutes to heat up and I can kill a bowl in 5 minutes if I try hard but usually grind the abv in the Teras bowl with my Plenty brush after the first 6 minute session and then get another 5 minutes, the first bong hit after the grind is huge and flavorsome as well, no popcorn here.

@SonSzu I normally use the small chamber. Depending on the quality of the material I do not always fill it to the top and add a reversed capsule cap to keep everything in place.
I finish the chamber in 2-3 heat cycles generally with the original plenty. I vary draw speed. (Edit: I often begin drawing before the temperature is reached, because there are all those flavours.) Very good weed may take a little longer. Regrinding helps.
I would have to measure, but I think the heat up takes longer, than finishing the chamber.

Compared to smoking, it is maybe a little slower than smoking the same amount in a joint.

I think you would profit by trying to keep the weed in place.
