Homemade cream from CBD isolate??

I have some CBD pain cream that is wonderful, 1200 mg in a creamy, slightly cinnamony 2 oz jar. It's awesome for pain and skin issues etc
Another brand is 1200 mg in an orange scented balm style.

Is there a high quality cream or balm where one can merely heat slightly (to an exact temp in a sous vide setup) and stir in CBD isolate? Recipe/technique??

The pain cream, for example, retails for $160 so a homemade version would be something like $30 for the CBD isolate (1200 mg) and the cost of the cream.

Thanks for any suggestions/tips.

I'm not "keen" on buying all the separate ingredients/ making my own cream from scratch, if there's a good cream(s) out there where you can just add isolate and get a really good CBD cream that is eazy-peazy to make.

I do not really know what isolate is. But if it is the 99.x% pure CBD powder then i would just sprinkle it in a fat based cream while stirring let sit until the CBD dissolved (long time), mix well again to make sure you do not get hot spots or worse cold spots with cream with no CBD.
Lots of creams do not like heating. Try and heat the one you want to use beforehand to the desired temp.

With sticky material I would try a cream recipe from the net and just add the CBD to the fat part of the cream beforehand with heating if necessary to dissolve. Lots of the recipes work with fat and beeswax that you have to heat anyway.

Then it might be that in your bought creams they use special formulations of CBD (water-soluble or so ) or added ingredients that help the uptake of CBD and work better than your own.

I have found recipes that are for magnisum lotion which I also use for pain, restless leg, insomnia-been considering adapting one and adding CBD also for my partner-The recipe I used was a DIY stir in the mag water/flake into a premade cream- re cool- sounds very adaptable to stirring in CBD isolate flake? I could hunt for that recipe if it sounds up your ally.

I tried with just stirring the fine powder in a cream. It seemed to work. But I cannot detect if the CBD was active. I have tried 10%CBD in MCT oil and it didn't seem to help either. Maybe my condition doesn't react to CBD or i could not tolerate the cream or the MCT oil. I have yet to find any cream that really helps CBD or other.

If you can reduce flakes to a fine powder it would help dissolving.

My isolate is very fine powder. I was hoping to find a great "base" cream, one citrusy and one with cinnamon, and be able to just stir in the goodies-----maybe heat ever so slightly to help it mix??

That's basically the method described for the mag lotion recipe I mentioned above.

*I made mag oil first from the mag flake, then blended that into my lotion- I *think* that the same method should work for CBD flake, or powder.

After reading the magnesium lotion instruction, I understand you are trying to add to an existing lotion.

The goodies we want out of the plant are fat soluble. But to get those goodies into the fat, we need heat and time.

So take your 1gram isolate and combine it with a tablespoon or two of coconut oil and heat it gently for an hour. This will be a very concentrated oil. Then mix the warm oil into the coconut oil based lotion you want to use.

Once you have melted the isolate you can add coconut oil to approximately the ratio of CBD to cream you desire. Then add in 6 grams of beeswax per ounce of oil.

If you want to add directly to an existing cream I have added tincture to Voltaren in a shot glass and then used that for pain cream.

Good thread. Something I've been wondering about too. I don't know about cbd "flakes" lol never heard of that.
I wonder if terpenes added to the cbd would help a salve out at all.

Thats exactly what I would try. I cannot advise you on a base cream as we have different products over here.
For my trial I had a non scented base cream you can buy at the Pharmacy. It is intended for manufacturing creams.
But I think any cream works. I just took this as I had it at home.

Try with a little cream how much heat it can take without losing the emulsion state.

Edit: About the terpenes @Diggy Smalls. It depends on the terpenes. Some have even good effects on their own (without Cannabinoids)
